I find it can be difficult to learn Japanese through music due to how much phonetic structure is altered to match the song flow. Certainly it can be useful for entertainment value though.
but i can't freaking stop myself from trying to convert my friends into liking this one band i love.. it doesn't work one bit, but i keep trying... i guess i'll stop.
This is *exactly* the point! well, during my studies learning japanese I have learned so many kanjis I absolutely did not expected to, just simply "working" on the lyrics of the songs I like. A good dictionary, some free time, and translating a song becomes a fun exercise which really helps you in learning a language. Good point!
Ooo... been years since I sat down with a dictionary. Big nostalgia. I do miss it.
You're in Italy? I do believe detroit7 have been there at least once. Kokeshi Doll is also good for kanji-heavy lyrics. Invisibleman's Deathbed were the masters, though they've been broken up a few years now.
Yep, I'm Italian. I'm studying Japanese by myself since 5 months (my English is also self-taught, that's why it's so bad :D) . In December I'm going to take the JLPT 4, just to put my self into the test and see the results. I think I will pass it easily, I've studied so hard [plus I have a copy of the past 5years tests and I passed them so damned easily O_O] . Well, you're in Japan, that's amazing! I envy you so much :D Anyway, thanks for the tips :-)
Had to Google for that one... Not my cup of tea, sorry. With this channel I'm trying to talk more about about the music I like. There's loads of music out there that's not as well known that I happen to like a whole lot more. Shonen Knife, Missile Girl Scoot, Bean Bag, Barnabys, Bleach, Majo, Oh My God You've Gone, Ampcharwar, Detroit7, Electric Eel Shock, Tsushimamire, just to name a few. All louder, more raw than most of what you see on TV.
i love all kinds of music, eng, spanish, indian japanese and some korean... but for japanese... i love me some ENKA!... ill probably be one of the youngest persons at an enka concert when i get to go LOL!

Interesting... Get the man some Jero!
Depending on the concert you might not be the oldest fan there.
Some live house bands include an enka vibe as well. Invisibleman's Deathbed's current reincarnation, a band named "Here", is a good example.
Korean... all I know of is Gumx, Shorty Cat, and Vassline. Punk, punk, metal. I guess I'm a bit biased. :)

Interesting point. I need to do more Japanese language material. Lots of English vlog material out there. Not nearly enough Japanese.

true, i learned most of my english vocabulary by listening to music and/or reading the lyrics.
