surely two brakes would be more practical on this kind of terrain, and would give you the option of riding on the brake hoods even on technical sections.
@TheDevilkillah Yea, GoPro is really good when there's at least somewhat good light. In bad light and night (even with good bike lights) it sucks imho.
So, I've been debating whether or not to get a fixed gear cyclocross bike for winter riding. If you can do that in the woods I should have no problem in the city. I'm sold.
Looked really fast, I get scared even riding on a little bit of ice on the road :) I suppose you get used to in in Finland. Was your front wheel skidding around?
@GofCis This very bike is also the one for my daily commuting. The region here is quite flat, so one really doesn't need additional gears here. I do have geared mountain bikes though. And it's also the simplicity - if that's a word :D No extra parts that would break. Also, when temperature goes below zero, (well here even below -30°C), cables, gears and freehubs can freeze. Fixed gear - no problem :)
@arisaast Nope, but it wouldn't be that hard to make a map of the ride, still got it saved in my head. Although, currently there are hundreds of kilometers of awesome winter bike trails around Oulu in addition to these on the video, for we haven't got almost any extra snow recently. Did 7½ hours today and wouldn't have wanted to stop ;)
@goncack Thank you! It's getting even more beautiful now that springtime is getting closer - we have at least double the amount of snow and much much more sun too :)
thanks for doing this great video! looks like a lot of fun to ride in the snow of this beautiful landscape =) great bike too and a lot of respect to the rider ;)
@tumbeloX What do you actually mean? This particular ride was about an hour and some 20km long, the amount of daylight restricting shooting the video (Gopro is really bad in darker conditions). Usually my winter rides are from two to eight hours, depending on how much time I've got in my hands.
@pexi2 this "about an hour" was exactly what I meant. I was thinking according to amount of day light that it would have been longer, but this Gopro fact explains...
You ride like I do on my conversion fixed gear.

nice video :3 I love the feeling when riding on snow where you have to just let the bike do its thing and wriggle around in every direction.

how is the grip? I never get the chance to ride my mountainbike in the snow...
slomo8888 6 months ago
@slomo8888 It's good. Hardpacked snow (not too much, it would become ice) provides quite good grip once you get used to it :)

You should sell bikes. I'm sold (too). As I don't live in Finland I need to buy my bike at a local store. Sorry for that ;).
Truly epic.
