I sang this song in advanced middle school choir last year and I really loved it. My chorus sounded terrible but I still love the song. (I blame the sounding terrible on Cilas Lee.)  I love this rendition of the song. It's the only good one I can find. But really Goodwin High Madrigals, the world isn't going to end in two seconds. You can slow it down a bit.

AGFHGH! We were going to sing this for our fall concert :( but the boys didn't know their part well enough cause they're SLACKERS. No. Not really. They were trying.. but they were more concerned with learning a different song for the concert. But this song is so beautiful! Ya'll did a wonderful job :) just a tad too fast and the middle part is pronounced "Lai le" I believe. Maybe i'm just stupid? Anyways, beautimus :]

The tempo is faster than it should be, no matter which way you spin it, and the sopranos and altos are dragging a bit. They're not pronouncing it with the gutteral noises either; the pronunciation is off. They're not opening their mouths correctly so it makes it sound like they have a serious southern drawl. They start in too fast at times. The second "Erev" that they sing is FAR too loud; it's supposed to be soft and caressing the VOWELS. Too many "shhh" sounds. Otherwise it's good.

Also, the basses need to watch how they pronounce vowels. It looks and sounds a little theatrical, and ridiculous.

i love this song. we are singing it in my freshman choir, i absolutely love it. and altos get an awesome part that is fun to sing. (you probably guessed that i am an alto, haha)

oh btw- the real translation, according to one of my friends who speaks hebrew, is "Evening of Lilies". the music's translation failed epically.

its true that lilies would've been more accurate, but i've sung this song too and every Jew i know (which is not a lot) says that this song is "Evening of Roses". i don't know (shrugs).

I like the tempo - it's closer to the tempo of the original recordings of this song :-) in the 1950s and 60s.. I think I'll use a similar tempo with my choir

One thing I noticed that was really exceptional was the pronunciation. I've seen many choirs perform songs written in a variety of languages and they seldom correctly pronounce the songs in their correct grammar and diction. We did an Italian song last year and spent most of our time getting the diction and pronunciation correct.

its a little fast. but overall, a beautiful sound. you guys sound extremely mature. but i couldn't really hear the alto line. but i loved how you shaped the verses. with the slight crescendo and everything...so amazing!!!
