Its not Nintendo but rather the rights over the James Bond series of video games. Although Nintendo did hold the rights which then passed towards Electronic Arts and then at its current home at Activision. Nintendo is not the only one accountable for any stalls let alone the release of an XBLA port. In fact Nintendo ran in this dilemma when they wanted to release GoldenEye for Virtual Console. In short there is just too much litigation surrounding this game in order for a proper remake.

wow. listen lads. If this was all Rare where capable of for a remake I'm glad it was cancelled. The original on the n64 features more realistic character models and level of detail.
You all seem to forget all of Rare's titles since Star Fox Adventures are rubbish - including their remakes of Conker and DKR.
Rare are not the same company - the designers and programmers from the Golden n64 era are long gone. They are now filled with wannabees living on the back of old success.

@XGodOfModzX It was canceled because of Nintendo. They did not allow this title on any other platform than the Wii. Now Activision is doing a complete Goldeneye remake for Wii build from the ground up with Daniel Craig as James Bond.

It was a mutual dispute, I hear. Both parties wanted it exclusively. Nintendo and Rare own the game, so MS owning rare means the two main companies were duking it out until it was eventually canned.
The sad thing is, I think the game was completed.

@PDzero Nintendo were involved in the development of the original Goldeneye and own licensing rights to the game. It'd be a slap in the face to allow it on a competitor's console. In essence, they'd be working for Microsoft. It'd be nice if they'd agree to let it be on both XBLA and Wiiware but that'd be too much like common sense. Microsoft and Nintendo just won't agree imo.

First off, your not forced to play trash "like moveing my arms around trying trying to get a kill". No. You can sit play. You just plug in a Gamecube Controller or a Classic Controller Pro. Second, "with better graphics" Are you serious ? The graphics on this look like ASS. The AK-V7 has a terrible shine, and the bad guys still look blocky.

Its not Nintendo but rather the rights over the James Bond series of video games. Although Nintendo did hold the rights which then passed towards Electronic Arts and then at its current home at Activision. Nintendo is not the only one accountable for any stalls let alone the release of an XBLA port. In fact Nintendo ran in this dilemma when they wanted to release GoldenEye for Virtual Console. In short there is just too much litigation surrounding this game in order for a proper remake.

@JMSCrusader The Goldeneye for Wii is not the same as this one! The one in the video is an upgraded version of the N64 Goldeneye! The Goldeneye you speak of is a remake build from the ground up. It's made by the same people who made Geist for the GameCube and will be published by Activision!

Nintendo wasn't the main cause for this not coming out.
Danjaq, MGM, and Activision deserve much more of the blame, although Nintendo further complicated things when they saw the other people were not cooperating.

This would of been awesome. I'm really pissed off that it got canceled. I have never been disappointed in a game being canceled in my life until this happened. Maybe someday Goldeneye will get an XBLA release.
If you guys ever heard of the N64 Hi Res Texture Pack from the N64 Emulators, I can guarantee that if they made a Goldeneye Texture Pack, this is what it would exactly look like. At first, I thought this came from the texture pack cause everything looks sexier

This would have been awesome....I' m so thrilled that they have brought Perfect Dark to XBLA but i was personally more attached to Goldeneye (it was my favorite game as a kid) and have wanted this game to be released on next-gen more than any other.....so you can imagine how upsetting it was for me when they announced it and when it was well underway Nintendo had to be total jerks and destroy the dream! *sigh* Oh well :(

No. Nintendo wanted it on the Wii, and Microsoft wanted it on the Arcade. Nintendo couldnt get it because Microsoft owns Rare, so they needed Microsoft's permission.
Microsoft couldnt get it because Activision has the Bond license, so Microsoft would have needed their permission. Nintendo threatened to sever all ties with Activision if they allowed it to be on the Arcade.
Whoever wins, the kids lose.
