Trust me, I've seen all 117 episodes to date and read all 269 manga chapters since the beginning. I've seen and read most of those before watching all 36 episodes released for this dub so far. And I'm actually starting to like this more. I was just as genuinely entertained by the first half of this season dubbed than the whole first season in Japanese alone.

@mwehhhhhhh I don't think they'll regret it, although as you said, it really is a matter of personal opinion. :) I watch the sub and the dub, and while I do think the Japanese version is better, I find the dub just as enjoyable (if not a little more so because I actually comprehend the language being spoken :x).

As of now, 36 have been dubbed in English by Funimation, with 12 waiting for release, making for a total of 48 (the whole first season). Based on the success of the DVDs, more episodes may be dubbed. In fact, they may be dubbing season 2 right now. However, we won't hear anything until after the 4th DVD volume is released next month (it was pushed back from this month).

For you see, Laura Bailey doesn't do much dub work for Funimation anymore, and neither do Vic Mignogna, Travis Willingham, Kyle Hebert, and Troy Baker; they've all moved to do dubs for companies like Bang Zoom and Viz Media (the latter of which dubs Bleach and Naruto). However, there are still occasions when they do return to voice for Funi, so as I said, it's still a possibility.

@inmunita It is not Roar of the Fire Dragon, it is Karyuu no Houkou. "Karyuu" means "Fire Dragon," and "Houkou" means "Roar." I'd say the translation is fairly spot on.

Besides, what about when Natsu and Gajeel unleash their roar attacks at the same time. Would you prefer them to say at the same time: "Fire Dragon" and "Iron Dragon," which would clash with each other, or "Roar," which would not?

Just because you think something sounds cool, that doesn't make it the best choice.

No offense to the dubbers, but just watch the sub, first of all funimation did 5 episodes in dub, and there are 115 episodes, second jellal sounds soooooo much hotter, or and gray :)

Second, just because we watch the dubs, that doesn't mean we don't watch the subs. In fact, I've just seen the latest episode with Gray fighting Ultear, and it was awesome.

Third, after listening to more of Jellal's English voice than you, I can tell you that his English voice is MORE than worthy. He sounds very hot and very evil.

I think the voices fit pretty well. Sure, I know all too well that we're supposed to hate dubs and anyone who doesn't is conciderad a retard... But after having watched Fairy Tail with subs to the end and also having read through the manga, I enjoy these dubs quite alot. It's hard to live up to the core material (just watch some of the worse dubs and you'll get that) but these guys pull it of pretty well imo. It's enjoyable :)

The anime is 116 episodes in and, in comparison to the manga, is only 28 chapters away from reaching the manga's current 269-chapter mark. There's been confirmed to be filler to widen the gap, though, and filler in Fairy Tail is actually pretty decent.

But if you like this dub (as I and a number of certain other people do), then you'd do well to continue supporting Funimation's release.
