  • block dont work with small mma gloves or in a street fight with no gloves

  • Great teaching method.

  • Very interesting.

  • so solid

  • In MT when you block do you make your hand hard? so he wont bent ur elbow n so it wont hit ur face right.

  • great vid, i always find that when i parry a punch i end up panicing and just putting up both my forearms to block.. any tips as to how i can avoid this and actually get use to catching and parrying punches? thanks

  • for the people who thinks that duke roufus doesn't know what he's talking about is fucking retarded this guy is a fucking muay thia champion in several organizations and is one of the best muay thia teachers outside of thialand

  • can someone help me i want to start taking a form of martial arts but im not sure witch one but what i really want to learn is how to hit harder and take hits anyone have any recomendations for me

  • @mcdrummonkey i would go with muay thia because the kicks are more powerful than any other style of kicking because they kick with the shin not the foot like karate. and also muay thia is one of the most effective combative sports because this style can be used in K1 or mma, most of the top strikers in the world other than boxers use muay thia,

  • @Doughty1988 that all sounds great and i really appriceate your reccomendation but is muay thia also good for self defence

  • it's a good tutorial. Stance is key always....

  • bunch of rubbish...............

  • @yokakeshinowakane

It doesn't whether he lost he match with ....

You need to learn how to respect. You are no better than little child.

  • so as how changpuek defeated him with low kicks.......... check out the other videos in youtube.........

  • Make ur own combinations (y)

  • clowns, your "block" sux, and that fake cross...

  • Bow to your sensei! BOW TO YOUR SENSEI!!!

  • tyson is shite at defending low kicks, thats why he bites ears

  • ok. they need new muay thai shorts, they look like giant diapers on them. losers.

  • block! - cross! - body! - uppercut! - FALCON PUNCHAAAAAAAaHHHHHHH sDSFKJLDHLKHJFHDSJDSHHHHHHHHHHBH!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dipshits he didn't mean the lowkick part he meant the block and counter punches

  • Didnt know Tyson was a muay thai fighter :D God did that make me lol

  • what if the opponent throws a flurry instead of one single cross?

  • why is duke yelling at us?

  • @savagenoble7 THE BLOCK IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

  • @savagenoble7 OMG HE WONT STOP YELLING AT ME ='(

  • Im excited to try this when I go sparring tomorrow

  • Do you guys (talking smack) know who Duke Roufus is bro????

  • i like people speaking bad about him!!!do u have any idea who is DUKE ROUFUS???

  • he's very bad tecknic

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty sure Holyfield beat tyson by headbutting him on the inside and beating him to the punch. Then headbutting him until he goes insane and bites you.

  • Duke Roufus, I wish most of these watered down kb/muay thai schools in the US would absorb half of your knowledge base. You are the stand up man in 50 statesm thank you.......................oh ya, Pat Berry still kicks ass too!

  • at least this guy has brains AND brawns

  • I hit that combo a lot. I bet I could knock you out jayjaden

  • @Hill258 moron, exclude the low kick.

  • jason looks just fuckin mean

    crazy ass white people!

  • duke roufus, or ruke doufus? :D

  • Duke roufus you dum fuk.. you show this combo as if the opponent is paralyzed from the ground up after he throws the first shot.. im pretty sure he wouldnt allow you to take that many shots.. i know i wouldnt

  • @jadenjaden - he is demonstrating a combination, not actually sparring it out. Or are you saying that combination striking doesnt work in fights?

  • your not totally open - as it is very hard to punch the guy when your the one getting hit all the time.

  • Comment removed

  • ok now look....pause at 0:24 and see the black t-shirt guy...he is totally open...a left direct from the red guy and he is down....

  • hahahahahaha!!! I love the face from the guy in the red shirt....its like.."I can totally take him now"

  • This guy is an awsome Teacher , does anyone know any others ?

  • taht dude on hte red trunks is a beast damn! those are the fighters im talking about!

  • That kid in the red looks like he wants camera man

  • this guy is good!

  • Yeah, I'm sure you know more about technique than a world famous trainer who has trained some top level mma fighters and muay thai fighters...*eye roll*

  • lol well said..

  • Stop yelling at me!

  • Dude is talking extremely loud. But, he knows what he's talkin bout so I can bear it.

  • ducking and dipping low like in western boxing you're going to eat a knee or kick to the head, as far as slipping away from punches, shoulder rolling and whatnot they teach some of that too but u have to keep in mind of the back elbow or leaving you legs open for a kick

unless you're Saenchai sor Kingstar -- then u just outclass your opponent while insulting his skill

  • you are supposed to duck and weave dumb ass. stop trying to pretend to know what you are doing and go back to the UFC game

  • hawaiinicco1800 - you dont DUCK so much in Muay Thai really, but weaving is semi common a little, but more swaying. Only North Americans really try to do this, because of the boxing baxground. It can be done, but its more risk then payout.

Its easier to slip punches IMO.

If you duck and weave like boxers d, you'll be in the clinch, and knocked out form a knee/elbow combo pretty fast. Boxers tend to place weaight over the centerline while D&W, this is a No-No in MT.

    my 2 cents

  • D&W, to the outside of the safe side is no easy way of getting clinched. it is not wise to do it consistently, but a good D&W every now and again can save you some hurt. normal reaction to a D&W is to try to punch them. I have yet to see someone get kneed in the face while doing it. and elbow? An elbow is for when you are tight inside in very close range like when you get out of the clinch. not when someone is D&W. UFC is not shy of it. Good example, Rampage Jackson D&W with Chuck Liddell. KO

  • ummm you mean mma not ufc just saying mma is the sport and ufc is the company that sings mma fighters. ;) nd ducking is a bad idea from personal experience I got a round house right to da nose from ducking lol... and a punch hurts less den kicks or knees I personaly prefer weaving not ducking...

  • Uhm? I never said anything about UFC until i mentioned the video game. Nice try tough, and a round house kick? To the nose? Hmmm... I don't see why your face would be unguarded enough, and looking to the outside to get nailed by a shin (considering you are inside ducking and weaving, there would be no need for it outside) in the nose? Hmmm. And weaving is involved with ducking dumb ass. Duck and Weave, you cant just move left to right. If a hook comes in and you are just weaving;

  • you are going to take that hook to your newly broken jaw.

  • haha dam hard too understand all I know is you called me dumbass uncalled for. "And you said UFC is not shy of it". and elbows aren't always close range like when anderson back elbow KO'd some other guy. And your right bout da D&W. But kickboxing and muy thay normally teach you to block punches with your hands besides when you spar or are in a fight you don't remember none of this rules and shit you react and instinct is what makes great fighters not technique alone and you gotta keep in mind

  • that if you D&W your oponent will probably know this and take advantage the chance he gets.

  • No he's right, if you duck and weave against a Kicker then you will most likely eat a kick or a knee to the face, however, using maneuvers such as "sliding" in and out of punches and have good head movement will work, for more of what I'm talking about, watch BJ Penn, he does it all the time

  • @salvationwar Exactly. 100% correct.

  • Why is it that Muay Thai guys don't seem to practice slipping punches? I was always taught through Western Boxing that evading an attack is the first choice. After all, blocks don't always work. I saw a fight once where a guy tried to block a roundhouse kick and the kick just plowed through anyway. You're relying on your bones to take the full impact. What if the guy is much bigger? If you avoid the attack, you throw your opponent off balance setting him up for your attack. Makes sense to me.

  • they do teach you that in mma. "the biggest defense is space"

  • i think my stance is ok, i think the best thing i got form this video is fight back thanks mate

  • I'd rather slip that first punch, if they are a good puncher or kicker even if you block they will wear you down.

  • "SPEED CREATIVE" THAT S THE WORD

  • hehe good video. your name is funny :D roufus

  • hello! 5 stars---veijo--finland

  • ONG BAK MAN

  • tyson bit holyfields ear dumbass

  • lol

  • people have two names?..oh really, tell that to the people that have three names...dumbfuck.

  • I have 3 names you dumb fucking retard,

  • they fought twice

  • im a relative newbie to Muay Thai; is the leg kick which duke is throwing also known as a 45 degree leg kick? Thanks

  • no a 45degree kick is to the floating ribs

  • terminology can be school specific though.

  • y is he shouting!!! AHHHHHHHHHH

  • thanx great vid:)

  • Evander beat Tyson with a lowkick?

    Ok, good to know

  • He ment the fist combo smart ass

  • @Hill258 you were being sarcastic, I hope?

  • @Hill258 hahahahaha

  • @Hill258 LOL

  • @Hill258 haahahahaahahhahaha

  • @Hill258 idiot, he was implying the cross shield and returning the cross, not the low kick

  • @Hill258 u know what he meant... douche.

  • @Hill258 LOL

  • @Hill258 He didn't mean the low kick haha

  • @Hill258 yeah he did you didnt know? lol

  • sorry but you dropped your left guard wile throwing a hook, never drop your guard, you should be teaching that

  • Excellent point !

  • YUP

  • i'm good at hitting after i get hit but my opponent usually does the same. Thats why my smoker fights always turn into a sloppy brawl, i don't know what it is

  • cool honesty. maybie get into stance and block quicker after you hit? i dunno

  • I trained in Krav for a very long time before I began Muay Thai, and I've found that the "bursting" principle of attacking and defending simultaneously is very effective against someone as fast or faster than you are.

  • WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY????

  • roufus got his ass kicked in Muay Thai, that is why he went to kick boxing

  • Very nice combos. Duke Roufus, his videos are always very informative.

  • Thats the best way to throw a hook imo

  • dont even worry bout his hoooks

  • I like this guy. Too bad his brother is such an asshole.

  • his hooks are wierd i never seen some one throw a hook that way

  • whats wrong with his hooks, there's about 10 different ways to throw the hook, and he's not gonna use proper technique in a demonstration,or he's gonna hurt his partner,he's gotta modify the hook so he con just tap his partner, any way why u talking about the hook, when he's trying to explain somthing totally different!

  • He's not saying to triple one side and counter the same every time he throws the cross... doing it every once in a while is a good idea cause most people don't expect that and when they do you change it. Like he said, be creative and you just have to look for your opening.

  • sorry to tell you this but, i was trained from FairTex and your last combo you did was kinda of incorrect...the more you attack its gonna leave your face and body open...when im in that seniror i mostly kick or come to the clinch..but those are some usefull tips to beginners

  • "big deal...go out with a baseball bat and you can skip this video" lol this is such a typical statement from a Douche-WWE fan or w/e u lazy fruits watch.

  • He is obviously ignorant to the fact that this is for a sport not self defense(even though it can be used it that situation.)

  • Fuckoff

  • Yeah, I always walk around with a baseball bat in my pocket.

  • I guarantee he'd whoop ur ass, even if u had a bat. Weapons are for cowards anyway

  • Not to a Samurai!!

  • the samurai are all dead.

  • but there code isnt, dont compare to a samurai, compare to their code.

  • Bushido!

  • his baseball bat is always connected to his knee...pussy

  • "#1 thing, fight back" a very very important principal.

  • yea! dont let em get off with throwin shit at you.... throw it the f*** back!!!!

  • allot of people dont take us girl fighters seriously... untill they get a good strong cross to the chin!!!! lol ;-p

  • Since they're not taking seriously, girls can turn this to her advantage.

  • I cant believe some of you are disputing duke roufus's training instruction...this guy was in K-1 and has studied fighting for so long. This video is great...like he said be creative...thinking you have to go left right left right is ridiculous. Great vid.

  • lol "I've been training in thai boxing for 6 years" lol >< thats awesome. Tripling up on one side DOES work...Quadrupling on one side works too. If you have enough dexterity in your left you can throw a 7 punch left handed combo...and guess what it totally fucks with the person you are fighting. Speed isnt the issue its timing.. .If you are not landing it it isnt speed...its your timing...hehe...now come back and tell me how great you are...oh i cant wait

  • So Milwaukee's in Indiana right? Just kidding please don't kick my ass...

  • He did do a tripple with his left. Right on Nate! This will def. slow a fighter down if he does a combo like that.

  • Im glad someone knows what im talking about lol

  • So you're claiming that tripling up on one side never works? Have you ever seen a fight in your life? Some people believe no one should ever throw three shots on one side, and those are the people that let down their guard after the second punch, only to be hit by the third. Not that every single fight doesn't have someone tripling up on one side at one point, but watch the Buakaw vs Souwer 2006 K-1 Max fight.

  • I've been training almost everyday in Muay Thai for the last 6 years, i have some idea what im talking about.

  • thats fucking stupid tripling up on the left, would take too long, gotta remember the dude aint gonna just stand there.

  • Can you count to 2?

  • yes i can, can u count to 3?

  • Yes, but I don't need to watching this video because he doesn't triple up on the left.

  • hes triples on the right, which is even worse if u wanna hit quickly

  • no, sorry i was right the first time. he triples on his left at 1:30=D. thankyou.

  • 4, here!

  • No its not. If you know how to work it, you can slip those punches in very easily.

left Body shot, left uppercut, feint right, left hook

  • very good viedo....ty

  • Duke Roufus! my herooo! LOL

nice vid, nice teachings. I 'must' buy his series...

  • i love how its free

  • it's not kickboxing, it's muay thai/thai boxing (no consensus to differentiate the two)

  • he came to conduct a seminar at the gym i trained at... this video is one of the most impressive for kickboxing, besides bas's cassette tape series..

  • I love kickboxing, and I love Duke Roufus! Woooooo! Thanks World Martial Arts!

  • this man is the michael jordan of muay thai teaching

  • You mean the over-rated champion?

Just kidding, I have nothing against this guy. Just a simple joke from the safety of my computer desk, this guy would take my ass down.

  • good stuff

  • Nice
