  • I did not need to drill out the rivet. You just need to remove the actuator from the clip inside the door. It is very easy. :)

  • the pice i need to check is the one that is begind the key cilinder,, is like a magnet that sends a signal to the actuator if you turn once it open the passanger door and if you turn it twice it lock off all the doors,, any ideas were to find a replacement or try to fix it

  • @MacDrunk If it's part of the key cylinder, you would more than likely need to replace it.

  • Does the actuator make a ratcheting noise when you try to unlock the door? The drivers side sometimes will lock/unlock the door, but at other times it won't do anything. If you pull up on the lock, it can take some effort to get it to unlock but not lock. Not sure if it's the actuator or the Latch. Great video by the way.

  • @cotaman7 Yes it'll make a noise. If the actuator looks like it's trying to pop the locks open but doesn't, then you may need a new door lock actuator. We carry them for most vehicles on our website 1aauto.com.

  • I am replacing a worn Door Latch Assembly... so I will need to remove the actuator, too, as shown in the video?

  • @RonBronson Yes you would. That actuator has a pretty big hook that hooks to the latch. As the video shows you need to move it around quite a bit in order to unhook it from the latch.

  • thank you

  • can you do a video on how to open the door on the explorer when the door is shut and wont open when you try to manually unlock the door? i have an explorer and i cant get the door open if my life depended on it so please this will help soo much

  • how do u know when u need to replace it?

my toyota camry 2002 makes a werid noise when i l lock it

  • @strickmans Usually they will just stop popping up when you try to unlock the door. Typically when they go bad you can hear them trying to pop up, but nothing happens.

  • @bgwillz668 Like this video...Fix Door Locks Chevy GMC Truck Silverado Sierra Yukon Tahoe Suburban

  • Great demo!! I do have one question.. The rivet you replaced with the screw and bolt. Did that come with the new accuator or was supplied by yourself? If so.. should I just find a screw and bolt combo that will work. Do you know the size?

  • @ToddB987 Supplied it myself. You need something 1.5 or 2 cm long M6 thread with 10mm bolt and nut head size.

  • @ToddB987 I bought the actuator from 1A Auto and it came with the bolt you need, that replaces the rivet.

  • very helpful, thank yuou. what was the size and lenght of the bolt you used instead of the rivett?

I wouldn't do it without gloves though, I always get cut!

    Thank you.

  • @0scarsky I believ it was Metric M6 1.5 or 2 cm long with a 10mm head and nut.
