What great talent! ... Please also visit my channel and watch LAWRENCE GRAY singing "Thank you for Loving Me". Lawrence is a still undiscovered artist with a really amazing voice and talent... Watch him. You won't be disappointed!!
Two years later, I'd still pay for an HD version. However, I seem to remember reading that an HD version would be impossible because the original resolution isn't that high? I could be making up that memory. Anyway, hope you're still creating.
@photolitherland yeap, have to agree as I come back every few months to watch it. I always wonder if the moonlit tree at the end is on Arthur's seat as I run there every week, and in the winter when its very dark, that's what it looks like because of the flood lights at Meadowbank illuminating that side of the hill. As for the tenements....Bruntsfield?
Came back to this video again recently; still very powerful. I've been learning more about film myself in my studies, of course, and I'm a tad gutted you don't have a slightly better resolution for this at moments! Especially the closing moments would look wonderful in 720p or higher.
But it's still beautiful after all this time! Though my only question is, what do the 33 twats who dislike this have against it exactly?
I've lived in Edinburgh for 28 years and with a lot of the people growing an ugly nature within, you've given me a gift to see our city like we never get to see it. Beautiful.
Thank you for making my morning, again. I've watched and listened to this countless times. Never tiring.
Thanks for that. Glad you enjoy it. Well the only reason I dont have HD version is the whole film was shot in 640 360 so would make little difference. We will be posting more new stuff soon, how soon is any ones guess.
The best thing i've seen on youtube ... what an effort ! About 3 minutes on I was starting to think, this might soon become a bit too long, but i kept watching as the shots managed to become more and more amazing. Also, it's great how some of the most beautiful stuff is free, just look up and frame the sky ...I would love to know a bit about technique (lenses used, panning during timelapse) if that's not proprietary ... either way, hat's off, superbly brilliant film!
Hello there, I just want to say i think this video is fantastic and I love how you manipulated the location to get that material. I have a question concerning the Violin Concerto. I myself am about to film a surrealist film in Edinburgh, and I was going to use this as a soundtrack to a part of it. Now, for this recording, did you get copyright permission? And If you did, what did you have to do for that? Thanks a lot.
im sorry but this is pretty boring. mockmoon's ones are better, he's actually gone to capture nature.. all you've done is filmed some clouds :P good job though
I love the compsition of this peice - has to be oneof the best of all time! Have this on my favorites so this isn't the first time ive watched it but it never fails to move me.
Spectacular shots of a spectacular and beautiful city (where I lived for 2 years) set to stunningly beautiful music. All in all, one of my favourite videos on YouTube. Well done.
Quite incredible! Thank you. I found this completely by chance today (often the case on youtube) and it really is a work of art. I love the clouds and the moon sequence. Infact I love all of it!
Bravo! Outstanding! Been a weather geek all my life. Excellent work on the cumulus formation and rain shafts and the camera pans- but the stars thru the trees; superb!
completely beautiful work! great to see a qatsi/glass homage as well. I'm only just beginning to experiment with this medium. very inspiring. what are your methods/tools used for panning and tracking?
Mate, awesome video. I'm a lifelong fan of Philip Glass.
I'm currently contemplating a short film in which I want a portion of time-lapsed filming of a person in a room (to indicate the passage of time) - could you perhaps elucidate to me how you went about doing some of this stuff? The less technical the better!
Consider it as friendly tips from one Scotsman to another!
No doubt your work can absolutely be compared with the mastery of Ron Fricke - bravo! I particularely enjoyed the amazing moon shots as well as your new ideas like the floating boats and the rainbow. The music synchronization was also very well thought out. Thanks for sharing!
That's pretty hot stuff - and i totally love the Philip Glass score it's similar to his work on Mishima (or have I just said something stupid there?).
My hat is off to you sir! Nice to see that patience truly is a virtue. Very impressed with your shots over einburgh, you got great height and spectacular cloud movement. Did you use lighting for the trees and stars footage?
This is magnificent. I was born and raised in Edinburgh and the clouds were always there. I never believed they could be so beautiful. Some of these frames would make amazing still photographs. Thank you for sharing such vision.
I really need to learn more about these panning time lapse shots...they are so intriguing. any resources you could recommend? I bet you just loved the Planet Earth series...greatest show ever...don't you wish you could just borrow their cameras for a while?
The ones with the rain clouds really did it for me. Looks amazing from this perspective - like some giant is watering the towns. Same goes for the sunlight peeping through the clouds - someone shining a torch down upon the towns.
I absolutely love videos like this. Very awe-inspiring. I hope we can see more videos of this caliber. If anyone else is into these things (and I know you are) get "Planet Earth" on DVD. Brilliant
I started making single frame animations on my 8mm film camera in the early 1960s... It would take an entire day to capture a very short scene, doing the single clicks frame by frame by hand. I'm excited that computers and great software allow for people like you to make wonderful and insiring videos like this.
I was in Edinburgh last month... wish I would have brought my camcorder now.
