  • I love her so much. I sing this aria but I can't find the sheet music for this version anywhere! I want to sing it too!!

  • Just Beautiful!!!!

  • What a lovely singer!

  • there must be other singers who have attempted this aria and done it well... the original version that is

  • There is the complete CD recording of the 1912 version of Ariadne with the wonderful Sumi Jo and I believe there is a pirate recording of the incredible Beverly Hoch singing this version in concert.

  • SHE IS GREAT IN EVERYTHING SHE DOES

  • I raise my glass to the most stupendously captivating, flawless Zerbinetta to ever have sung the role (and in BOTH 1912 and 1916 versions, no less)!!! Simply unequalled.

  • edita gruberova- the best zerbinetta ever! for me the best operasinger - ever!

  • YES! I DO AGREE WITH YOU

  • From what I have read very few even attempt the original version of this aria. Strauss wrote an easier version of the aria later, which is the version we mostly hear today. Beverly Sills and Edita Gruberova are part of a small group of coloratura sopranos to sing the earlier version. Brava Edita!

  • Edita ist quiet well. You should hear Elena Mosuc - the true Zerbinetta!

  • Them is fightin' words! No, I do enjoy Elena very much too but I think Karl Böhm said it best when he heard Edita sing Zerbinetta, "This is the voice Strauss had in mind when writing Zerbinetta."

  • @operadude32 Yes, Karl Böhm said it very well.

Edita has the same qualities as had Frieda Hempel, for whom Strauss wrote this first version of Zerbinetta...

  • Edita is the best Zerbinetta ever, her voice has that enourmous brightness in this aria, brava

  • This aria was composed for her voice. She is truly a superb coloratura. Brava!

  • Beverly who? Yes, THIS is how it goes.

  • I just listened to the Sills version and sat thinking, "I THOUGHT I liked this aria..." Now THIS is how it goes!

  • Edita singing Zerbinetta! and in the original version of the aria!! Thanks for sharing this video. It is great to have a glance of the definitive Zerbinetta. Viva la Gruberova
