  • lol notice how they didn't win..........#fail

  • This is my favorite event in track, im a feshman in high school and my best time is a 15.04 sec. Im the best freshman hurdler in the state of Ohio right now. All you have to do is practice, good form, and dedication.

  • @bponcsak5 you have the reason, you have to practice practice and practice

  • im a freshman in high school and i just started hurdling this season and so far my best time is a low 19... can anyone help me out with improving my time? i four step and wear sprinting spikes. help please.

  • im in middle school and im trying to use a 4 step is that a good idea or not. My freind is using three steps. Should I just stick to 5, because there's no way im getting three.

  • @thejebsernater

most kids at my age are doing 5 some even 6 or seven(i no its bad)

  • @thejebsernater I started off 5 stepping, then got to 4 after I learned to hurdle with both lead legs, and then I made my way to 3 stepping. It's good to be able to do 4 steps in case you ever falter in the 3 steps and need to use a different leg.

  • @thejebsernater you want to use the lowest amount of steps possible so i would use four you will get to three eventually

  • The man on the left has much better form, he keeps his head up and snaps his lead leg down quick. But the guy on the right is just faster in between the hurdles, thats just natural speed i guess cuase his form is way worse.

  • Pump your arms harder, drive your knees harder. It's a matter of speed between the hurdles (and maintaining that speed with good hurdle tecquineique) if you don't have the range and speed of movement, it ain't gonna happen until you improve it with sprint training, drills & explosive work.

  • i cant 3 step, i think the hurdles are too far away, is there a quick and easy way to do it?

  • if you can't three step then you won't be competitive at all. My old problem was not getting my trail leg out far enough. Try improving that, and see if it is easier to reach each hurdle.

  • @princesscj7 if you cant 3step your stuck with 5step or if you want to go faster try 4 but you have to alternate legs

  • @princesscj7 If u keep practice it, u will be able to do it. You gotta push uself

  • @princesscj7

    Try taking longer strides.

I have the same trouble sometimes.

  • from your sn i will assume that you are a girl. I run college now and I have met many girls who can compete at very high levels using a 5 step. My coach thinks that some girls are no capable of 3 stepping, but I think that its all mental. Fact is there is never a quick and easy way when it comes to track, if u want it bad enough hard training and dedication to the sport will get you were you want. Good luck with the spring season

  • Is there a height like, limit to be a hurdler? I'm gonna be going to college soon and I'm nervous about going up to 42" considering I'm only 6ft tall. Help?

  • Allen Johnson, one of the best hurdlers ever is only 5'10'' I believe. Look it up!

  • @goodfellasollie true that! Allen Johnson's daughter ran for the track team at my school and even though she was on the girls team and I was on the guys team she kinda coached me. And with her coaching and sum hard work I ran a 40.99 in the 300m hurdles and 16.2 in the 110m(it's only my 2nd yr doing this so my times arent all tht great)

  • Really the difference from 39 to 42 hurdles is mostly a mental thing. They look a hell of a lot higher, but the adrenaline from racing will compensate for the 3 inch difference. Most people have a hard time making the transition, I know it took me a while.

  • I am only in high school track [and I am a girl] so this is probably different, but there is this girl on our team that constantly wins 400 hurdles and she is only like 4'11 i think.

  • @electriCITYxlove I'm only 4' 11", and my coach says I'm good. I think you'd be great :D

  • @electriCITYxlove height isn't a factor. if you have form you'll be good.

  • That has got to hurt the balls.

  • people that cant do 3 step are normally slower but it's normal that you will do 4 step if your to slow if you still try to do 3 step the 3 step will turn in a 3 jump and that very slow so first get faster en more explosif between the hurdles then your 3 step will geet better and better

  • those who are discussing stepping, the answer is... 3 stepping is the fastest. no matter what. If you can do it, just keep practicing. Your time WILL be faster than if you 4 step, especially since your going off your better lead leg, instead of alternating. Im a 9th grader and i do 110m hurdles with a 16.5sec. Not bad, but my senior friend does 14.7. im second best only because im the only other person who 3 steps. If you can three step, then do it.

  • very true. first time i went through a full flight 3-stepping my time went down by over 2 seconds

  • yeah i did 4 step and i was like a milli second from my schools record but 3 stepping is better as long as you can do it good

  • 4-5 stepping is ok.

I did 3 stepping all last year and it didnt help my time so I went back to 4-5 stepping which helped me get my school's record :)

It doesn't matter what step you use as long as your comfertable.

And alternating legs comes natural to some people like me, it all depends on what you want to run.

  • Your 3 step was probaly very slow and you were probaly straining for the 3 step as well

  • aren't you supposed to three step hurdles? It looked like these guys were 4 stepping and aren't you supposed to alternate your lead leg? And does any one have any tips on how to reduce your time over the hurdle...Im in 8th grade and the hurdles are really low so its hard for me not to end up sorta hopping. Any tips would be great.

  • lol I'm in your same but.But all I can tell you the best way to reduce your time is your form basically and your amount of speed over the hurdles.

  • haha i don't know who told you that, but don't listen to them.

    1. yes 4 steps between the hurdles if you count your landing. its over, land 1, 2, 3, over, land, etc.

    2. no you're never supposed to alternate, always go over with your best leg(or whatever leg you feel comfortable with)

  • well at his level he can alternate

but its good for to get ina habit to not

and if u have long legs those hurdles should just be ur leg goin immediately up then down

right when ur foot is passed the hurdle start going down

  • The stepping is ok! Trust me.

  • well it dosent matter how you step as long as your comfertable but to reduce hange time over the hurdles i would say lean forword and concentrate on bringing your lead leg down and remmember to follow through with your trail leg in the end it comes down to purfict form, oh and hey dont sweat the short hurdles in highschool they set them up pretty high so yeah you dont have to much more of this

  • wheres that

  • my high school we have a olympic hurdler as a coach

  • wat school

  • lower merion

  • kobe bryant lower merion

  • yea

    hahahahahahhaha

  • charlotteoswald u dont know what ur talken about u dont pace ur self in a 110 hurdle retard and ur supposed to barely tap the hurdle with ur ass only a little thow

  • guy on the left has nice form

  • they should slow down and pace themselves and then they would never make the hurdles fall. pftt pretty obvious :P

  • it doesnt matter if u knock it over

  • the black guy hits his nuts off of 2nd third fourth and sixth hurdle

  • hahahahahaa

  • @frasier900 he's white by the way

  • Iv raced that chris baillie guy a few times back in the day. looks like hes doing well for himself

  • The Scottish Hurdler There Chris Baillie Has the same coach i do and his dad helps too.

  • Robby!!!

  • Neil! I couldnt resist :P

  • they should be fully extending there lead arm, i dont think its supposed to be bent

  • Actually for your information, that is an old habit used before, if you fully extend the lead arm it takes that split second for it to get back into place, into the running position (arms are bent), but if you bend the arm but still "launch" it out there, it has the same effect but you can get the arm back into the running position faster and therefore you save so much more time.

  • beat me in hurdles !!!...i jst fly over 10 hurdles in one go !!!

  • this is a great video 4 me 2 watch so i can work on my form and see how the pros do it. u rock, goodfellasollie!!

  • the technique is pretty good but the guy on the right should be going a few inches above the hurdle not beloe

  • hahaha.... man it would hurt ya nut sack if you were a boy ahahahahaa

  • ooomg their sooo close together!

  • wow, is this at the olympic level? or college?

  • its commonwealth.

  • niice..let us know about the animated hurdles vid when its done.

  • I'm animating someone running hurdles, and this really helped a lot. Thanks
