  • k grande es este video...no hay palabras...

  • That was awesome. I just saw James and Kevin in a movie where they were both gay and they hooked up. It's cool to see them like this.

  • he's amazing!!

  • excellent. the song even made it more dramatic. well done :))

  • Amazing video I watch it over and over again and it hits me just like the first time every time, thank you!!

  • @muttieb You're welcome and thank you so much. I so appreciate the kind words and I'm happy you like it as much as I do.

  • I cried so much that I could die from dehydration... James,I love you :)

  • Your videos on James Purefoy, are simply wonderful, thanks for sharing it. That a pity that in Italy there is little and nothing about this amazing actor.

  • this is a great video with an excellent soundtrack to go with. I loved the Rome series and this was one of my favorite parts of the series because of the respect i have for Mark Antony

  • Roman historians say that Nero did not have the courage to commit suicide, so he had one of his servants do it for him. The political games the Romans played often necessitated suicide, but for a Roman the suicide was only honarable if it was done by ones own hand. Yes, Antony did die like a Roman. Say what you will about him, but he was no coward.

  • He was a great man, though flawed like all of us, he died like a Roman.

  • My Comment to Debra: If you can't spell the guy's name right: "Antony", not "Anthony", you have no right to dis him! The man had his flaws - his "disease", according to Varenus - but "All of nature can stand up and say, 'here was a man'" (quoting Antony in Shakespeare commenting on Brutus).

  • mark anthony was a bastard who earned his end!

  • Can't you spell his name right?

  • screw you!!

  • THANKS for posting! I cried watching this scene, but this makes it so much more...dramatic

  • BRILLIANT

  • That was a great video. Awesome, amazing, well done.

  • Thanks so much. Wanted to really showcase James' amazing emotion here and used the song he said in an article he listened to while filming. :)

  • Thanks, but you may have wanted to read the video description before leaving that comment. Here it is "Mark Antony's Death from Rome starring James Purefoy set to Hurt by Trent Reznor, performed by Johnny Cash. Dedicated to James for his mind-blowing performance! " Glad you liked the video. K

  • Villian maybe... but a True Roman he also was. In the tv series they didnt show it but, when the war broke out 2/3 of the senate supported Antony. In the show it showed all of the senate supporting Octavian.

  • switchlock25:

Villains and Heroes, you think people are like that? I bet your boss is a Villain... and your daddy is a Hero. I love the way, you focus only on single aspects of the soul. It is charmingly naive.

  • Truly lame. When Antony raped a girl along the roadside in season 1 epsiode 2 or 3 thats when I thought him to be a villiam. even other characters in the show didn't do that. Somythinking is not black and white just scumbag from decent

  • I agree with switchlock25! fair enough the man may be no worse than others in the series (though debateble!), but he deserves no hero worship!

  • He was a man - and what is more, a true Roman.

  • @Humbug26

He was a Man, and what's more, a Roman!

  • Well done for video and song.

  • I love the show, and I love Mark Antony. Even though I know he was going to die, I couldn't stop crying during this scene !

  • I love that line "anything to get rid of this hangover " ;-)

  • Nine Inch Nails did the original but I like Johnnys rendition better. HURT--it's about doing heroin

  • Johnny Cash - Hurt

  • who sing in this song??pls tell me....:) bye is my favorit songs

  • Jonny Cash

  • "you are someone else,i am still right here" its just so touching and fits to rome.I think he was a great human being.

  • pretty awsome, love the show and the character. kinda sad ending for him.

  • I'm the only one who thinks James Purefoy looks a bit like Marlon Brando?

  • I agree! he does look like him in this show.

  • Johnny Cash Rules ^.^ Nice vid

  • Im a boy teen, and never wore make up... but after seeing him play mark antony, im soo gonna go to egypt and have a specialtist do ancient egyptian make up to me for a one time only lmao.

  • I never knew this actor before. But he gave real meaning to this tragic historical genius. Most other actors are so commercial and pitiful. But Ceasar's actor and many others in this series also played great. The real history of Rome is one of the key elements to understand what is going on in our present civilization. There will be and end to it as well, then a different rebirth, who knows how.

  • Thanks for your lovely comment! I couldn't agree more. :)

  • Awesome video clip! Antony had his failings, but what a human response to actions he cared not for!

  • Ah...! I got that. I appreciate and thank you for posting this clip, Khamarupa. Have a good mother day.

  • Is Jonhny Cash singing this song?(that he wrote)...Great! That touchs my heart. Thanks

  • Hi, the song was written by Trent Reznor of NIN, but sung here by Johnny Cash. Such a haunting performance! I LOVE it! Nada :)

  • When I saw this scene the first time on the series I cried like a baby, he was an amazing Mark Anthony.

  • :( so sad, my bf hurt me b/c of his parents, and now both of us no longer see other... why parents are so skeptical....

  • I know excatly what u mean... same happened to me :( "tears"

  • i watched this on dvd again and i cried again! fuck! this is pretty moving

  • oh god totally moving

  • I love this man, love the series, love the music, love everything... it's awsome

  • what a fucking legend!

  • i just cant get enough of James Purefoy...i LOVE him...

great video...it makes me wanna cry..

  • Amazing. Antony is amazing.

  • He lived everyday like it was last. No regrets

  • He`s the best actor, I love James Purefoy and this is an unforgettable scene."Rome" was the best serie I saw. And Johnny Cash give us more emotion too.

  • Dang, will you do the same for me? !D

  • He died for one woman... Wow... what's life worth without love? His empire of dirt... a man who surrrenders everything, even his own life for one woman... how tragic but very beautiful in its meaning.

  • I'm not ashamed to admit I cried uncontrollably when Vorenus cleaned him up and put him back in his uniform. It was just tragic, he was the only one that remembered his greatness and stayed loyal. James Purefoy really humanised Antony, showed both his virtues and his flaws. Antony was a hero of Rome brought down by his own passion. A real tragic hero.

  • I have to admit, I had tears rolling when Mark Antony died, don't know why, he was out of control, but I just had empathy for him that it all ran away from him, great acting and from all the cast obviously.

  • me too

  • Great song,great clip.

  • mentira este es jonhy cash no marck anthony

  • none of that for me. pure cicero!

  • awesome

  • I love Marc Antony, one of the best roman figures of all time. The series "Rome" introduced me, and i will now start to read more about him, starting with "Augustus" by Anthony Beevor and then going on to Plutarch's own works of him.

  • Beevor book is good. Enjoy it.

  • Yes, i assume that too.

Even though it's not a very scholarly book, one would have to start from somewhere. Thx.

  • I am glad you are getting in Antony. One of history's tragic characters. He had the world at his feet but love did him in in the end.

  • I sobbed like a baby the first time I saw this Rome show. It was GREAT. I went to Rome and saw where Julius Caesar was cremated but I saw nothing about Mark Anthony. Romans: get with it. He was a flawed Hero.

  • I've got to admit that even though I don't often cry at stuff, Anthony's death in Rome and the bit where Vorenus puts him in his uniform made me sob uncontrollably lol

  • "What have I became?" sounds like Antony asking Verinus (Spelling?) about what he has turned into, and then kills himself finding out cleopatra's dead

  • why is he crying?

  • You might want to watch the show, or read up on Antony and Cleopatra. :)

  • I know a lot about ANtony and Cleopatra....i never watched the show...is he mourning her death?

  • Yes, this is the big climactic scene of learning of her suicide and then killing himself. :)

  • dude, marcus antonius is hooot

  • Fabulously well done, great choice of music.

  • great video, James plays Marc Antony great, and Marc Antony was one of the most badass Roman figures ever, especially after this show.

  • Dittos! Antony has always been fascinating to me, but after James' performance he has a very special place in my heart. I'd SO love to be able to go back in time and experience the real man! Wow, that would be so amazing! :D

  • this scene is so velvet goldmine... makeup, drugs, and heartache

  • Ah yes... Velvet Goldmine, now that was a wild film. Loved Curt! HAWT! ;)

  • This makes me so emotional, what anactor!Rome was the best thing on tv for years.

    great choice of music.

james is great in everything.......i saw him first!

  • haha! Glad you liked it. James is da bomb! I soooo miss Rome and the beyond wonderful Mark Antony. :D

  • Another fantastic job, Nada! - indeed the sexiest badass ever !

  • Don't I know it! That man's got it all in check! ;)

  • look he played the character well but i said he was a pussy because he didnt accept the duel with mark antony even though mark antony was like drugged up and out of practice. im just making this comment from watching rome im commenting on the series not what he was actually like in history because to tell the truth idk what he was like. but in rome he was a pussy, a clever pussy. there we go done.

  • Ah, I see. No prob. Not trying to diss your opinion at all, honestly. It's hard sometimes to get the gist of short comments here. :) And yes, the show was at times WAY off history anyway, so I hear ya!

  • urm tripsy i said the ceasar guy was a pussy the second ceasar guy....

  • Ohhh, the "caesar guy" well I have to disagree, but I was referring to Mark myself - since he is the subject of this vid. The second "caesar guy" was brilliant! Simon Woods played Augustus Caesar with an ice cold, ruthless, intelligence and devious cunning... Just like the real historical figure. ~Nada

  • What a brilliant vid... perfect with the music...

  • Ive never had so much empanthy for a merciless bastard. the fact that James Purefoy is a human oil painting probably assisted there...

  • HAHA!! No doubt! I have to agree with you. James' Mark is my favorite merciless bastard ever! LOL! ~Nada

  • well in my eyes from watching rome he looks like a pussy we are all entitled to our opinion.

  • God, that man was beyond SEXY!!! So yeah, we are all entitiled to our opinioins. ~Nada

  • most not have been watching rome then because mark antony was one of the most badass people in it he was no pussy and to think so is just idiotic

  • Well done!!!!Well done!!!!thanks

  • what about voldemort?

    he dies you know

  • Mark Antony kicks ass he the only character in any program or film ive really hated to see die. and that octavian guys a pussy would accept a fair man on man fight even when Mark was high on opium. or whatever he was on lol.

  • no one, no one ever has the right to call gaius octavian a pussy, in the movie and especially in real life.

  • Everything about this is perfect. The part where you put in James' cries gives me goosebumps. Even though i love NIN i like this version of the song by Cash best. Anthony and Cash=RIP

  • Wow, thanks so much! When James mentioned in an interview that he listened to this version of Hurt while filming those scenes, we just knew we had to do a video of it. I love both versions of the song, but there's something particularly haunting about Cash's version that completely fits Mark Antony's demise, especially with James' deeply emotional and gut-wrenching emotions. Thanks again for your very kind comments. ~Nada

  • This was unreal...

  • james was amazing in this role, and with the eye liner in the end, mmmmmmmm.very nice.

i wish anthony won instead of that git octavian.

  • I wish Antony defeated the bastard caesar

  • This is so sad. James was so perfect in this role. I really wish Antony didn't have to die, damn you history. And I still prefer the NIN version of this song, for the record. :)

  • Sweet God, James was so incredible in that role. That little touch in the death scene, where Marc cradles the back of Lucius's head, as if he were comforting him, *sobs*

    Awesome video!

  • Thanks so much. James and the music really make it great! I am so disappointed he didn't get an Emmy nod for his performance, but that seems to be the way of things here in the states. Hopefully he'll get a nod from the UK award shows. ~Nada

  • I was so pissed off when the Emmy noms came out and no one from ROME had gotten one. James & Polly in particular deserved noms.

  • After watchin the 9th ep last night it was great, haha at cleopatra shooting that guy with the arrow lol, loved the one last night cant wait for number 10, but at the same stage i dont want it to end :'(

  • The history in show leaves a little to be desired,Brutus and Cassius did not die in battle like in the show they commited suicide a la Anthony.

  • What a program, i love this, i love mark antony, hes a legend, James plays him real well, thanks for posting this

  • Thanks so much. so glad you like it. And yes, James does such an amazing job as Mark. He BECOMES Mark! ~Nada

  • ever since i saw the first one of rome on tv, i loved it, im going to buy the box set when it comes out, im doing a history corse, and i wish to travell to rome and study this. I love the roman times so much, ceasar, antony. This Video makes me cry lol, its the 9th out of 10 ep tonight, so i will enjoy :)

  • You are not alone in the tears department. Everyone seems to cry with this video. I also love Roman history and I sure wish the show could have been on for several more seasons. James was signed on for 5 seasons originally. Darn it... I feel cheated! You will enjoy the last 2 eps, though it's so sad to see it end.

  • that was so sad. im still figuring out which "mark antony" i fell in love with when i was about 12, and James Purefoy might be the one. Could you tell me when was this filme shown? ~ thanks

  • This is from the HBO series Rome last season. It was aired this year. :) He is wonderful, isn't he? Just the most perfect casting for Mark. He will always be the only Mark Antony to me. I'm glad you like the video. :) ~Nada

  • goodness yeah i just realised that this is from HBO. Pardon my 'outdatedness' for im an asian IN asia ^^ and w/o cable tv, so leh :P this is certainly not him as im now 23 w/c means the mark antony i was looking for was from a movie 10+(philippine free tv is so outdated, like me) years ago, but james purefoy is very good in delivering his role and quite good-looking as well.

oh love love when will i find you? maybe it's marlon brando im looking for?

  • I completely understand. I think it might be Brando you saw. :) And, well, James plays Mark so classically, and yet with a kind of modern power that didn't seem to exist back in the day, at least not in the same way. Though Brando rocked in that role, I am WAYYY partial to James portrayal. I think Brando would have been extremely impressed with James' version, too. Bet he would have LOVED it! ;) ~Nada

  • i didnt know he died because cleopatra sent him a letter. but is really interesting know their history

  • take his own life just because she said so? this is stupid

  • Well my dear, it is history and there is much more to it than that. It's interesting to read about their history and all that led up to the tragedy between them. ~Nada

  • uau, they are really stupid

  • Sorry, I have no idea what your reply means.

  • what was written on this letter? i didnt see this episode

  • The letter is from Cleopatra, telling Mark she had killed herself and asking him to come quickly to her by taking his own life. Mark's reaction, played so brilliantly by James, is just soul-wrenching!! Especially with Johnny Cash's haunting performance to back it up. ~Nada

  • This truly is a wonderful piece of work. Well done.

  • Oh thank you. It's James and Johnny that make it so wonderful! That song is absolutely perfect for Mark's highly emotional end. James mentioned it in an interview and he was right on the money! :)

  • so sad!I love that song and Mark Anthony.

  • Love it, thanks for loading it - even though Im not a Johnny Cash fan! :O)

  • Love it thanks for putting this up.

  • =( *sniff Sniff* i miss him why'd rome have to end.... WHY? by the way i love your site, khamarupa...

  • Thanks so much!! Isn't James just marvelous! Rips our hearts right out every time. :)

  • As usual, FANTASTIC work. I tear up every time I watch this vid. You guys rock.

  • Oh God, I teared up. Wonderful work. *sniffs*

  • Thanks so much! And honestly it was rather hard to create this - watching those clips again and again. SIGH! He really does tear at your heartstrings BAD!

  • you guys did him JUSTICE!! oh man brought tears to my eyes!!
