I know what he means, but the gi joe dubbing thing was never a big craze, it was seen as a cheap imitation of fandubs only applied to other shows such as mid 80s american cartoons. It was a knock off of the anime fandubbing thing and was reconized as such, thus, those in the know more or less shook their heads. Further, the GI JOE fandubs never earned a significant following to be called a craze. CB was a craze, Pagers were a craze, psk31 is a craze, this was a novelty which died after a week.
