a kitchen in a command unit?? I think that there are more important things that a FD should put in a command unit. Here in Germany most normal command units (here called ELW1) are on a van (like Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or VW T5), For bigger emergencies there are ELW2 and ELW3 units: The command units are built on small trucks to big buses; but a warm room and sth. to eat would be done by EMS
@EnjoyFirefighting Lethbridge is a dual service (Fire and EMS). I think a kitchen makes a lot of sense, have you every been on scene for 24 hours? It's nice to have something like that so the guys can rest up. This thing is decked out with everything you would need for a Command Post.
@99MCougar at the point being on scene for a long time the disaster control management would support the FD with a kitchen vehicle (for example to make some warm soup), or the FD gets some food from the station with a van. But in a command unit....
@EnjoyFirefighting I see your point, but at the same time the population of Lethbridge could fit in a soccer stadium so it doesn't need something like a bus or semi truck for disaster control. The kitchen is just a microwave and sink as well.. nothing huge. There is no kitchen vehicle around here so they had to adapt one vehicle to be able to do many things.
