this series of videos is really insulting to those that have spent time training and learning the sport. The "expert" here needs to learn how to hold the french grip weapon, with the pommel against the wrist and it looks like she is pronating when she extends, rather then being in suppination.
can't you see she's speaking!?!?! How do you expect she could do that wearing a mask? Besides, all the moves are made in super slow motion, I don't see the need of wearing a mask. Stop posting these stupid comments, instead, or turn your brain on before you conceited know-it-all guys post any.
I really appreciate these great videos showing these basics of fencing.
A great sport, would love to get myself and kids invloved. I look at this sport and the fact fencing dates back millenium. Is there a sport that has a longer history, if there is I do not what it is. Problem there is not fencing in our town. Is it difficult to get a few kids and adult started.
First, congratulations on the initiative to post videos about fencing. Nevertheless, I kindly suggest you to review how to use a French handle (tube handle) or take an anatomic one. this is not about taking it from forward or from the end, but the position the handle has to take from the tips of your fingers till you wrist-forearm. It's to say, you shouldn't hold it like a hammer. I hope no to be misunderstood with this comment. I admire your determination to make these videos.
If, in theory all attacks end in a lunge or a fleche(or i suppose a flunge in sabre) does it make it an automatic remise if the front foot lands before the blade hits?
The remise is a continuation of the attack after it has been parried. So you lunge and the opponent steps back then redouble in to the chest.
Ok, if a reprise is the continuation of an attack after returning to engarde, why didn't you go back to engarde? You just dropped the arm
With respect to the word "jab". Definatly a big no-no in epee. Movement should be fluid not jabby. "Stroke, don't poke" You loose point control this way
you are fantastic. i hope you get to coach fencing for years at your university

She should wear a mask when facing her student at least.
Remise is attacking again on the same line. IE, the opponnent doesnt parry immediately.
Reprise depending on chich school of though you use is lunging and lunging again.
Nice to see some fencing videos up!

Mask should be on all time.

shes teaching without really fencing. Showing the moves. Hard to focus on a teacher with the fencing mask on.

Bit misleading as there is no right of way in Epee fencing (unlike foil and sabre)

once again, terms need work.
