  • Actually, I wonder a few things. 1. If he is in the US more than 30 days is the default to reinstate his citizenship? 2. If he renounced his citizenship, why does he then wonder why he is only allowed 30 days "in his own country?" (the act of renouncing should mean you don't claim it as yours any more.) and 3. While he did mention Bush, and was ostensibly renouncing the US for that, he even says "the fact is..." he is paying taxes to a nation in which he does not live. Not a dodge. Just a fact.

  • @xXxEpicFailxXx He was patsy in holy grail

  • @xXxEpicFailxXx Yeah he was the director mainly I think

  • 30 days a year? Are you kidding me!?

  • What an idealistic guy. He renounces his US citizenship as a tax dodge.

  • @greggh he didn't renounce it as a tax dodge, he clearly states that it was because of Bush and his political policies. He states the tax reasons as an aside.

  • @regco1 what video were you watching? The primary reason was that he would leave his wife without a home from US taxes when he dies.

  • @greggh How is it a dodge if he doesnt live there?

  • And you say this as you ride the words of a dead writer, completely disregarding the obvious that all things are relative. Thus you condemn one abstract idea while heralding another abstract with just as much zeal. To that, I call you a hypocrite as well.

And you are too narrow-minded to even acknowledge the good things of one's country.

You quite literally hate a form of love natural to humanity. Shame on your misanthropy, you hypocrite.

  • @tetrisclock

    Who are you talking about?

  • That ArticFan1 guy.

  • Thanks for the post!! Terry Gilliam is a GENIUS, he made BRAZIL...the best film of all time!!!!!

  • It's where your happiest being really.... it's his call, and good luck to the guy.

  • What a brilliant and talented guy, as so are the rest of the Python crew! What the World would love to see I'm sure; is not for all American's to "renounce" their country, but just to "Wake-Up!" and overthrow the Parasites who have stealthily hijacked YOUR Government and Media! Once America has taken back this control, you'll have true passionate individuals who want freedom and individuality for all instead of Psychotic Parasites controlling everyone with "FEAR!"!

  • America's loss is our gain. Any chance we could have Louis CK and Paul Thomas Anderson as well?

  • Good on him for renouncing the citizenship of that fucked-up self-loving huge dumbed-down and in front of the mirror masturbating country! Fuck the people who can't take the truth. Fucking patriots. "Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious."

  • @3vegemite Oh, yes, we all know how vastly superior your country is- whether it be Canada, Australia, wherever. Piss off, mate! No dark past in your land, no skeletons in the closet. Those who live in glass houses, etc. It gets tiresome hearing this garbage from folks like you. You might be honest with yourself, and look in the national mirror. It ain't easy, is it? From one of those "fucked up" Yanks you love to bash.

  • And I suppose you have zero patriotism for your country; do you not, sir? You are at best a hypocrite and at worst, a blathering ignoramus whose sight extends no farther than your dick which you are always ego stroking.

  • @tetrisclock Well, as Oscar Wilde used to say: "Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious". I, for myself, could not call myself a patriot. I am happy to live in the first world and a peaceful nation, and I couldn't care less about that egoistic, brain-dead kind of patriotism. So before you go out attacking people, better take get your hands of your own dick, so you might make a point writing, every once in a while.

  • At the end of the day, people have the right to choose where they wish to live. There's no need to make speculations that they've "renounced" their country of origin, that's just dumb nationalism. Besides, there are plenty of Brits, like Christopher Hitchens, who have "renounced" the UK and become American citizens.

Go and live where you are happy, that's all that matters.

  • Terry Gilliam is just great.

  • good for you man for renouncing..!!!

  • even though the government is making bad decisions i will never renounce my citizenship as an American....it's just insane.......George Washington would never do that even if was still alive today

  • Comment removed

  • George Washington renounced his citizenship by killing many Red Coats. Didn't you know that?

  • @CapHusky he didnt complain about high taxes. he didnt wanna pay taxes to usa when he lives in the uk.

  • @rich107s Gilliam was part of the most influential and creative comedy troupes in the history of civilization. Furthermore, he wrote and directed some of the most outstanding and influential films of the post modern era. Yeah, real failure. You're equating his supposed lack of intelligence with your disagreement with his political opinions. Folks like you are what's wrong with the US. You wear your patriotism on your sleeve, yet you're willing to drive your own people in poverty. Utterly sad.

  • @rich107s Everybody should be a delusional in an illusive reality like the one we are living.

  • @rich107s Did you actually listen to the interview. He said no more than what the average (intelligent) American says - that the people who run the country are crazy. He then went on to say that he'd lived in the UK for 42 years and still had to pay taxes to the USA. What was the point? He asked himself. There was none. His life was no longer in the USA. Can't say I blame him. What he did made sense. Sadly, your reaction did not.

  • @rich107s fuck you, idiot. Can't handle an intelligent person choosing to denounce the fuck up that is the US? He belongs to a superior country now. FACT. You fucking prick

  • I love this guy, politics notwithstanding... we haven't had a decent president since ????

Mick Jagger faced a similar situation, only in reverse, a few years ago. Except he could only stay 10 days in the UK without serious ramifications! Don't know if that's changed since he was knighted.

Maybe Congress could give Terry Gilliam a medal or something...
