“The song ‘Naked Burn’ off of Leviathan isn’t about Moby Dick; it’s about Catholic priests raping boys in the ass. It has to be talked about in some fashion because it’s so fucked up, but people aren’t really going to get that notion right off the bat. You have to read between the lines.” - Brent Hinds

Maybe the album cover has a lot to do with it, but most of this album really reminds me of a ship out at sea, and the parts that are heavy on acoustic guitar & ride cymbal remind me of crashing waves.
@SchizophobicBand No you fucking retard, Its about the story of Mody dick, you ignorant bastard. "Whale metal" my ass, fuckface. the whole album is about the themes and emotions conveyed in that story.
Killer song. Fits the Moby Dick story well but also has two pretty cool side themes within that can take you on a trip.. This is a rare song including religion by Mastodon.
Brann's drumming just reiterates why the feelings of a struggle is so deep, and complex for other people, and not for the person who understands it (Like Ahab)
This song's lyrics, confuses the hell out of me, but they are exuberant songwriters.
The bass of the album to me represents the low haunting, silent but crushing sounds of being underwater. The guitars paint a picture of emotion, a story in life.
The vocals are the best part.
And thanks, dude I really live for music, check out my page.
It sounds like an awesome cover for the toy story song. "straaaaaaaaange things are happenin to me." long live the beast

Mostly every song has to do with parts in the story about Moby Dick. This is towards the end of the story.

I cannot believe that this is about child molestation

True. I watched some interviews were they said they consider the vocals a fifth instrument, rather than just singing

Definetely my favourite song on the album, even beter then the iconic "blood and thunder".

That dazzling, and convenient intro hooked me into this song immediately.
This is the only song where they sing, really well on the album, but the rest of the song, vocal-wise is really epic, and very dark.
All the riffs, especially the dark breakdown after the chorus, feels like I'm sinking to the bottom ocean floor of no return.
