The shop with better items is in the southwest part of Toad Town, just past the Tunnels.
You can manufacture awesome healing items by having Tayce T cook stuff. You can put any Syrup + any Mushroom together to get both effects in one item. Also, Cake Mix goes with a lot of stuff (coughLifeShroomcough) and it's easy to farm from the Toy Box.
and Outpost pipes, since its so easy to go from one to another, the Koot favours actually gives you a fair amount of star pieces, and you REALLY want to go for the hidden panels, you'll probably get something like 40+ star pieces, I hope I didn't bore you by telling you all this though >.<
The items that I personally think are worth getting are the Repel Gel, which makes you transparent as it says(you can attack, but they can't attack you. Stone Cap is kinda useful like that, you can make it so you don't take damage, while your party member attacks), the Ultra Shroom and Jammin' Jellys are good choices as well, though I think the Shroom is rarer. You can get star pieces from chuck quizmo by going from going from place to place, I find it easy to use the Goomba/Koopa Village...

Since you are looking for items that will be helpful, you can use the cake mixes for making more of the cake that Tayce T. made for you, which restores 15 FP. The Lil' Oinks actually give some good shit, you pay 10 coins to make an egg for a Lil' Oink, once an 11th Oink is in the pen, one will leave and leave behind an item depending on what type of Oink left. If you enter the Lil' Oinks pen, all of them will hightail it leaving you to grab the item...
You can get another Jammin' Jelly by hitting the tree in the same screen as Lily. Instead of going down the stairs to talk to her, just stay on the path with the Flowers to reach the tree. Now as for tips, items such as Stop Watch, Sleepy Sheep, Dizzy Dial, etc. aren't as useless as you make them out to me. Some enemies are just suceptible(not sure if I spelled that right) to certain ailments. The Anti-Guy was weak to paralysis and Kent C. Koopa was actually weak to being put to sleep...

Some things that are very note-worthy in this chapter is that you can throw a Blue Berry down the well in the screen right of Petunia(by going East in case you forgot), Plus for the three trees to the screen left of her, hit them in the following order: middle, right, left(I believe).
That is all I remember for that chapter, But in the Forever Forest, there is a badge that you can get by entering the path thats on the direct opposite of the path with the mass of glowing mushrooms(the noticable difference path), I believe its 2 left, or 2 right of that. Another badge in the forest is that at the very end, in the area with the sign that tells you basically Boo's Manision is "this way", you will find a rock that when you examine it, it laughs at you, you'll find another badge...
a rock in the middle, jump while on top of it to get the item, you can get the Attack FX C badge if you like at the farthest bottom part of the desert by doing the same with a rock in the middle. There is also another badge you can get by finding a screen in the desert with blue cactuses and a tornado, let the tornado carry you and it'll take you to an otherwise unreachable badge that is great for going through places you've already been to get stuff, or for grinding for coins there...
okay now that I am caught up, I can finally help you with stuff you've missed :DDD you're on your own for the little tidbits like hidden panels, I'll try to help with letter locations that I remember, such as that there is one in the tree in the Dry Dry Desert where Kolarado's tent previously was, you couldn't hit the tree because it was in the way. Hey, here's a hint - D-Down Pound isn't worth it. It's better to have Power Smash. There's no enemy in the game that has more then 3 DEF, and it even costs less! Plus, when go up against the non-armored foes, it gives you access to extra damage too! Muhahaha!
Also... why aren't you using Happy Heart?! You got 2 of 'em, use one! Healing 1 HP per turn can be really helpful, ya know! And perhaps a Happy Flower while you are at it.

@TheaterODaRediculous you can't really do that because there is an inn in the next area that gives mushrooms the first time you stay at it after reaching another area first, either the dungeon or the other town, not the town you get to with the pipe that leads to the chapter but the next town, so if you have any items best to use them in the boss battle coming up so that you can get the mushrooms. Although you have to stay at an inn to heal star power.
@TheaterODaRediculous i was about to say the same thing, if you have any items best to use them in the huff n puff battle because of the inn, if you stay at the inn in this coming chapter you get a lot of mushrooms. I guess it is because of the difficulty of the boss plus a lot of other battles is why they drop the mushrooms in the inn. I played it through a few times and the battles can be brutal if you don't have the items.
I don't believe there is a correct pronunciation for Lakitu. I always said it La (sounding like apple) Ki (kill) Tu (too), with the accent on the "La". LAKITU!!! Yes, I know, I'm terrible at explaining things.
nder toadtown they have a warp to lavalava island with some good recovery items, the post office should have letters for just about everyone, and after this chapter go to the bleu house nexzt to the item shop in toad town and keep talking to the "master" there, with healing items and stops at a toad house.

As far as items go, you should really consider going to the Boo's Shop. They have very useful items you could stock up on before you fight Bowser. (: <3
I hope you all realize that most of the recipes requiring Jammin' Jelly and/or Ultra Shroom are OP and not necessary at this point in the game. Let's try not to post tips/advice that aren't yet relevant... Items that recover a moderate amount of HP/FP are fine for now. It's best to save the really good stuff for the end.
For the upcoming boss battle, I suggest equipping the Hammer Throw Badge and have Ultra-Rank Bombette as your party member. Be sure to bring lots of FP-recovery items!~ I suggest bringing at least 3 Cakes. :3
Lucahjin D:! Get the Speedy Spin Badge! You go so much faster XD! You might want to put that badge that protects against first strikes back on too lol
i don't think i should be telling you this now but next chapter, there is an inn in the next town and if you stay at the inn you get a boatload of mushrooms, the problem is you have to get through a few bosses first, so if you don't have too many items going into chapter 7 don't worry about buying any.
I tried jammin jelly.. It tasted like jelly that's jam and when you but the ultra mushroom with jelly you will get ultra jelly then I tasted it and I died

Not sure if i mentioned this, but if you take an Ultra Shroom and a Jammin Jelly to the cooking lady, you will be So Happy with the results. little hint, it heals more than whacka's bump.

whew. sorry i feel like a jerk getting worked up about how you're playing. But at least you're doing better in flower fields than when I first played it. It took me a while to realize to feed the blue flower a blue berry. He said he hated blue things so I assumed he didn't like blue balls.
i know a way to get to the maximum level, fight that golden flower enemy by spining into him well wearing a badge that will make enemys dizzy when you spine into them, use hammer and lady bow's ultra fan to kill it do this til you reatch level 27 thats the max lv in this game, it will give you 40 star points til you reatch lv27, but you have to go off screen or 2 to make it appear over n' over again.

If you cook something with cake mix and then bring it to the yellow yoshi on yoshi's island, you get a cool rare item that gives a decent amount of HP.

i don't think i should be telling you this now but next chapter, there is an inn in the next town and if you stay at the inn you get a boatload of mushrooms, the problem is you have to get through a few bosses first, so if you don't have too many items going into chapter 7 don't worry about buying any.

whew. sorry i feel like a jerk getting worked up about how you're playing. But at least you're doing better in flower fields than when I first played it. It took me a while to realize to feed the blue flower a blue berry. He said he hated blue things so I assumed he didn't like blue balls.

i know a way to get to the maximum level, fight that golden flower enemy by spining into him well wearing a badge that will make enemys dizzy when you spine into them, use hammer and lady bow's ultra fan to kill it do this til you reatch level 27 thats the max lv in this game, it will give you 40 star points til you reatch lv27, but you have to go off screen or 2 to make it appear over n' over again.

1. Use the "Dizzy attack" badge, and spin into the shiny flowers. It stuns them for one turn so you can kill them before they run.

Lucah, take all those Volt Shrooms to the cooking lady in Toad Town. By cooking just the Volt Shroom, you get a decent healing item that also restores some FP.
