Magnetic gears+super conductor axles+super cooled gear box= Most expensive/efficient reduction gear system imaginable! (pole slippage warning/timing gears not allowed)
How much load could applied to that particular gear system before the magnetic fields are forced through one another? Good idea by the way, aside from benefits of less friction the gears would also eliminate alot of the noise that geared machines produce.
How much load could applied to that particular gear system before the magnetic fields are forced through one another? Good idea by the way, aside from benefits of less friction the gears would also eliminate alot of the noise that geared machines produce.
If you can find a way to seal off each of the columns, so that the magnets would still have their gear-functionality without falling off at high speeds, you could make some serious money patenting this. Imagine being able to transfer force with less loss due to friction in any mechanical industry.
well the magnetic force between each coloumn is completly independent from the one being turned manually so theoretically you can build a massive contraption like this and it would work.
I believe you can create an electric generator using those 2 magnets, with the help of WIND or FLOWING WATER.
If you place a + magnet at position 1, a - magnet at position 0, a + magnet at position -1 and a - magnet at position -2, you can initate a infinite loop that creates energy, the loop has to be initiated by a natural power source.
Risks: magnets can acquire enough energy to break apart(needs speed limiter).
now if you could have both magnetic cylinders floating you may have created a frictionless gear drive, making almost limitless rpms, maybe? idk im just a stoner
good concepts there. possible engineering apps could be used, have to boost magnetic poles with electro magnets. could make transmisions, engines, maybe even generators.
I was thinking if you scaled it up a bit, and used neo's, you might be able to make a cvt gearbox for a car that had no touching parts, and didn't wear out. But hey, your the dudes with all the magnets. So maybe you should do that before someone else does.
@polarchuck999 Just the fact of no friction to transmit the power from one axis to the other is amazing. Put these on bikes and you get a no maintenance transmission, also dirt-proof.
@sebhag99 actually dj tiesto is the original creator of the pirates of the carribean song! the song you heard on the background is the first song, right before pirates of the carribean 1, its an old but nice song
Magic. But not like a 5 year old birthday party magician magic, more like a dark, midieval sorceror kind of magic, complete with broths and wands and toadstools and shit.

Haha, while I'm rambling and ripped off my ass, a fun little thing to do with them is roll them at eachother with about 1-2 degrees off the normal. If you do it right, most of that linear velocity gets transfered to rotational and it will spin in place for quite some time. Often lifting itself such that one ball is touching the surface at all times. I should get some video recordings of it. I need better lenses. :( I should steal some from work....
Okay, okay. I have to admit. That is a fucking CLEVER use of these things. I didn't realize it before, but now that I do think about it the magnetic fields do create a sort of gear-tooth effect because of all the nodes. It's really weird when you quantize magnets on a macroscopic level.
My guess for the 2 hands on the sphere is too much friction to transfer the forces, right? Would make a very effective system for energy transfer with a limit. Or a vibrational motor. Love the application. ;)
was playing with hexagons with center balls a while back and lined them up in a row to see how much influence the field would do but they would always eventually get attracted to each other ... stationary spaced rotating axis is brilliant! Great job! ... Man ... how many sets of magnets do you own? ... looks like a epic number. I don't see why people don't just use these instead of gears because there would be no friction between them so it would be really efficient.
