And then some mental institution escapee with an explosives fetish who happens to disagree with blogger lady comes across her name and matches it to the stalker's database of names to addresses...
I think the reason the blogger sued wasnt because her identity is now PUBLIC. because news headlines are saying ________ blogger aka ______________. and she is now predator to online stalkers and psychopaths who find victims over the internet that one just one very important thing about her. her name. I dont think this is about the woman being told, i think this is about the WORLD being told that she got pissed about. But maybe im wrong. and if im wrong. blogger chick. grow balls.
She wouldn't sue if she wasn't sued. The reason she is suing google is because she got sued since her identity was released. I would sue in the same situation if I got sued too. I need to find a way to make that back.
Wow. This shit is weak. What a weak show. People should be able to do what they like on the internet. If someone wants to keep their identity a secrect, it should be their right.
They missing the point, she trusted their privacy policy each they violated court order or not therefore you have to pay up. Because they could just say "we don't have privacy rights' and MAYBE she would't have call her that.
Notice the women that asked google to reveal the identity of the blogger is Jewish (Cohen, one of the most Jewish last names on earth) and the owners of Google are Zionist Jewish supremacists. It wouldn't surprise me if Google did cooperate with the government in revealing he identity, in fact I believe it. Why else would the woman feel she has the grounds to sue Google?
@kamat7235 What punishment? I have already made my name clear regarding being the victim of a pedophile ring to the appropriate authorities. I find it very unlikely that Google will be held accountable for obeying the order of a warrant.
@bloomingdedalus Fine. But your situation has nothing to do with this case. Opposite extremes. You obviously want someone to blame, someone punished. How is that Google's fault? Are they somehow colluding w/ the perpetrators? If not, what's your beef with Google?
@kamat7235 Nothing - I just don't think people should really be able to sue other people for anonymous insults on the internet. That's very petty. It's not really Google's fault. Like I said, I sincerely doubt their going to hold Google accountable for following a court order. Google runs everything. I'm not to keen on them helping China censor the internet - but whatever.
If google buckled under the law sue of some model then you know they are just plan eager to help the CIA, NSA or any other agency with real power. My real concern is how much information farming does google do?
Maybe that blogger who wrote mindless crap on the blogger about the supermodel would want to think twice before posting any more garbage about her. How would HE feel if someone one else were to blog to everybody else unflattering comments on the internet about him?
Anyone who sues for millions of dollars over something petty should be put to death. The lawyers who try to leach some of those million should be subject to 50 years of the Chinese water drop. Is losing your privacy through a court order really more valuable to this country than most doctors and engineers? Cause that's essentially what these schmucks are saying by suing for 18 million.
the whole thing is crap, I love how this coward blogger is complaining about her "rights" despite all the defamatory insults she flings at the model. In my opinion nobody on the internet should be anonymous. If you don't have the balls to say something in anyone's face or not show your face, you don't have the right to say it. The model should grow up and take insults but that blogger is in the wrong, not just her but all the gutless shitbags who hide behind their computers with fake courage.
Shut Up! You guys wish you could get the 18million. POINT PERIOD BLANK, information should be protected. I am sure she got the figures from her lawyer. DUH! The model shouldn't have sued in the first place, if she can sue over something so medocre, so can the blogger.
yes she does and shes fucking ugly stupid skank whore bitch she failed at a career she never had nor was meant for so shes angry now, what a stupid bitch.. figures.. americans.. im american too, i know first hand.
first off google had to follow the request for legal purposes, google was told to provide the info by a written request from there lawyers, so they did it legally
The legal burden of proof falls on the plaintiff. Any $ award would be based on a genuine loss or a malicious tort. I really fail to see a successful suit for either party. This seems to be two angry women at odds. If the suit isn't thrown out, a $1.00award might result, with only lawyers reaping any sizeable benefit.
No, the lady is not a 'skank!' And Google's hand was forced by a court order. So, just apologize to each other, keep your $, and move on with your lives.
How scuzzi of the blogger to write this about the model. Did she even know her? Now she needs to prove her remarks or PAY UP! Maybe that will make other people think twice about what they write. I am sorry that Google got dragged into this but that's the way it goes.
Wow....I just finished watching this. The two "anchors" are rather unprofessional. First of all, they didn't think through their critique.. WHY would you need "balls" to want them to know your name.(Cause you can google names :/)

1. The blogger has the right to say what she wants, but should be able to accept responsibility.
2. This model seriously needs to get over herself. So someone called you a skank, so what? Get over it and get on with your life, you don't need to make a huge deal out of it, who do you think you are?
3. The court didn't need to force google to reveal the identity of the person.
4.$18m is ridiculous for invasion of privacy, and suing the wrong party at that. This whole case is filled with Idiots
she wrote it in an anonymous case. dunno if you know this, but anonymous means people dont get to know who you are. second, she shouldnt have to pay someone because they didnt like what she wrote. i dont respect either, but i have to stand for individual rights.
It actually might make sense for the model to pursue the anonymous blogger. If you're trying to get jobs and the internet has you made out to be the next Lindsay/Brittney/Paris/Kate Moss then you might have a real problem. This demands that your potential employer is smart enough to google you but dumb enough to believe "anonymous" internet sources.
Exactly!! That is what separates America from the rest of the world: you are (supposedly) safe, in America, from unjust harm by arbitrary jerks such as Rosemary Port. Sadly, too many Americans do not understand the damage that libel and slander can do. Libel is no different from robbery and mugging, yet these idiots presume they are protected by "free speech". If they are fully correct, then & only then, is their speech fair. However, if they lie & harm someone, then they're criminals.
You're right the blogger should have the guts to be known. But the court should not have taken the case seriously enough to have forced Google to reveal the identity. The model should get over herself, BUT and this is a BIG BUT, I am only slightly exaggerating when I say that probably 90% of the idiots that view those blogs/vlogs CAN NOT tell the difference between a legit blogger/vlogger and a douche bag with the limited ability to use the internet.
I would have to agree with the last part, where she shouldn't sue google but the court instead. I mean, just because we think she's a wuss because she wanted to remain anonymous, doesn't mean we have the right to violate her rights to be anonymous. That's like saying if you were talking to someone behind their backs, and they told the person what you said, then you would be really pissed at that person for revealing your name.
it means its easy to talk shit when people don't know who you are. think of it, someone in an invisible house (meaning they are invisible too) can throw stones at people outside when they cant see them. its a metaphor...come on.
basically the house is invisible and ur throwing stones at people from inside the house (through a window or whatever) and nobody knows where they are coming from, but then it becomes visible and everyone knows where its coming from.. just thought i'd explain that :P
First of all Google could stall such a suit forever if they chose to. Money buys your justice or did you just land here? The rules of the internet are made as we go. The idea of anonymity is expected because of the number of people using it. When you are anonomous you do not have to worry about being PC. If someone is stalking or threatening to harm you, well that is totally different. The terms and conditions/privacy policy is so convoluted and incomprehensibe no one could understand it.
ANONOMOUS BLOG.... Another name for people who are pussies and afraid of confrontation or to be called on their bullshit so they are ANONOMOUS.... I Love it that this lady has to FACE REALITY...
I support the concept of privacy but I actually have no respect for News supplied by an "Anonymous News Sources" either. There are some cases yes, but in most cases No.
I found this story very funny. What if she mis-typed skunk, rather than skink, or skank. I like skinks, skunks, and apparently I do not know enough skanks.
Free speech allows one to say whatever they like, provided it does no material harm to others. It then becomes defamation (libel, slander etc)
A model seeking contracts requiring a wholesome image IS affected by unjustified UNwholesome assertions. Imagine owning a childrens camp, only to learn someone is widely insisting you are a pedophile. When parents take their kids away, the 'crank blogger' notion takes on a whole new meaning.
I wonder if The Young Turks will get sued for showing her picture since we didn't know who she was until now (and still don't know, who is she anyway?) like we are gonna see her on the street. People will always find a way to make themselves seem important and milk you for money. It's ridiculous.
I was referring to the model, not the blogger. Remember, the model sued the blogger. Who cares about the lawsuit the blogger has with Goggle, it won't stick. My point is that the model thinks she's so important that she could justify suing someone because her ego was bruised. Honey, I think I was misunderstood.
Ok, U.S. litigation craziness aside, if you're publishing something as non-fiction, you'd better make sure you cover your butt, legally speaking. With a valid court subpoena for the real name of the blogger, Google has no choice and Ms. Port doesn't have a case. In a fair world, Rosemary should be billed all the court costs for bringing the suit.
yeah, i agree. all 3 parties suck. besides, what do u expect when u post something on the internet. u want the world to see it but u want to control when? c'mon
guess what! you write it and put it on the interenet--it isn't a silent comment anymore. It is everywhere, forever for everyone to see. You can't take it back. Lesson: don't write anything you are afraid may get back to you. because it will !!
Everyone check out this lady who posted a comment on the youtube 'Jeff Fisher addresses the World part one" I think this lady would love Mr. Fisher to be talking about Food and lovemaking in poetry also.
I enjoyed however his story about Pat Tillman
I enjoy sports and my wife makes love to me during timeouts on Sunday during football season.
marriage is great and thank God for Saturday and Sunday for football.
All of you need to leave people alone & get a life.. k. If you were celebs, everyone would be up your ass with a microscope & you would'nt love it either. Go read a book or something. Peace & love. Cross.
People talk trash about models and the elite all the time. The model needs to get the fuck over it and get used to it. The blogger thinks you're a slut. So what? It's called an opinion. It's not a fact. Both of them are money hungry idiots.
First off, it's called "freedom of speech" she is entitled to her opinion especially since she's just an ordinary person NOT a member of the media. Secondly, because of that- that woman shouldn't have been able to sue for defamation of character. So thirdly the courts shouldn't have even have humored that model into making her think she actually had a case by ordering Google to do it. So in conclusion, Google isn't to blame.
right, your substantial bullying butt is covered as long as you state "in MY opinion". The influx of bullying coincides with the surge of blogging and youtard videos. Bullies get an endorphin rush from their one handed underhanded sock account BS. they are pathetic.
So long as you are not stating opinions as facts, I think you should be able to blog about anything or anybody you want, anonymously or not. How on earth can you sue someone for doing something that they were court ordered to do?
sorry, but the law degree hanging on my wall begs to differ with you...you should seriously read up on libel laws, slander, and defamation of character statutes. also, it wouldn't kill you to gain an understanding of court ordered subpoenas.
This is just fucking stupid. It is NOT Google's job to fight her court battles for her! That's her job! Yes, the woman who brought the initial suit was a bitch (and a skank!), but it wasn't Google's job to spend lots of money protecting her privacy, especially after a court order demanding that they reveal her info. What a fucking bitch.
what are you talking about? this suit has no merit. google is under no obligation to protect the privacy of a blogger. this bitch is getting the humiliation she deserves for being a cyber bully. you don't get to sue a service provider because you're too stupid to comprehend that freedom of speech doesn't apply to content. maybe learn something about slander and libel laws before you post nasty shit about a rival. better yet, grow the fuck up and stop acting like a high school mean girl.
Well, if that's the case their privacy policy is paper thin so is their stance of abiding by it. It could be a spurned ex lover or ex who is drudging up mud on her soon to be husband she suspects has a certain blog. I mean if google moved around their policy for this, who won't they do so for???
Well the thing is that newspapers will run this story, other blogs, it's been on television and look you're covering it. It is defamation of character in the long view, definitely. Who knows how this woman's life possibilities will be affected based on her name being plastered everywhere. I think her suit has merit and I would have too. It's tough situation but Google did not stand by their privacy policy. It sort of sets a rule that if they get any court order they will reveal your identity.
Google had a fucking court order to reveal her info. It is NOT their job to defy that order or spend tons of cash fighting it. Their privacy policy states that they won't hand your info over to just anyone, but they were required BY LAW to do so. Tough fucking luck.
You can smell the stench of Google's "Ooohh the judge made me do it" disingenuousness a mile into the wind. Had this involved any of their own proprietary info they'd tie this up in courts till kingdom come or it was no longer proprietary -whichever comes last.
"Whatever you ask for in court, only plan on getting 1 to 10% for a judgement."
To get $180,000 to $1.8m, you need to ask for $18m. Mostly, it looks like she's saying (the blogger), that Google should have fought more with the courts over the privacy rights issue. So, to drive the point home, you hit them in the pocketbook to make them think twice next time this happens (and it will). BTW, i just would have hired the mob to hit her for calling me a skank.
Is this what Americans have become? I'm almost ashamed to call myself one.
TheYoungTurks???
18Million Dollars?!?! Blogging?
Defamation? This is all stupid and ridiculous.
We have way too much time on our hands. No wonder why our economy is messed up. No wonder why man hasn't stepped on Mars. People sitting around collecting millions every year for doing absolutely nothing productive to our society.
Oh, by the way, I also agree that this skank does have a nice rack. Oops, did I say skank? Sorry, she's not a skank, not with those tits, and with that grandma dress.
TYT? The Young Turks? WTF? Who are these people who think they speak for the American youth? TURKS? Sounds like they don't want to be identified with the American youth...and their language is not professional, it's more street talk. What idiots!
How the F*CK can you have your identity revealed in a modern court of law over something that petty? That violates pretty much half of the bill of rights.

Dictionary says Skank = –verb (used without object)
Slang. to dance rhythmically in a loose-limbed manner.
If the model has ever done that, which I'm sure she has then the blogger is in the right. I'm glad the blogger informed us about the skank...

If you're trying to get jobs and the internet has you made out to be the next Lindsay/Brittney/Paris/Kate Moss then you might have a real problem. This demands that your potential employer is smart enough to google you but dumb enough to believe "anonymous" internet sources.
albygonzo 2 years ago

The model should get over herself, BUT and this is a BIG BUT, I am only slightly exaggerating when I say that probably 90% of the idiots that view those blogs/vlogs CAN NOT tell the difference between a legit blogger/vlogger and a douche bag with the limited ability to use the internet.
daskitso 2 years ago
I would have to agree with the last part, where she shouldn't sue google but the court instead. I mean, just because we think she's a wuss because she wanted to remain anonymous, doesn't mean we have the right to violate her rights to be anonymous. That's like saying if you were talking to someone behind their backs, and they told the person what you said, then you would be really pissed at that person for revealing your name.

"its easy to lob stones in an invisible house" wtf??
kILLuMBuS 2 years ago
it means its easy to talk shit when people don't know who you are. think of it, someone in an invisible house (meaning they are invisible too) can throw stones at people outside when they cant see them. its a metaphor...come on.
XHesterXPrynnX 2 years ago
basically the house is invisible and ur throwing stones at people from inside the house (through a window or whatever) and nobody knows where they are coming from, but then it becomes visible and everyone knows where its coming from.. just thought i'd explain that :P

If anon bloggers concept is lame then the same would logically apply to anon news sources too - right?
just because you may "value" one more than the other doesn't negate privacy concerns.

I support the concept of privacy but I actually have no respect for News supplied by an "Anonymous News Sources" either. There are some cases yes, but in most cases No.

What if Google displays newspaper clippings about your family without your permission?
What if these newspaper clippings greatly effect your life and are readily available to the world by just typing your name into the search box?
Does anyone have good answers?

Free speech allows one to say whatever they like, provided it does no material harm to others. It then becomes defamation (libel, slander etc)
A model seeking contracts requiring a wholesome image IS affected by unjustified UNwholesome assertions. Imagine owning a childrens camp, only to learn someone is widely insisting you are a pedophile. When parents take their kids away, the 'crank blogger' notion takes on a whole new meaning.
RnBramwell 2 years ago
I wonder if The Young Turks will get sued for showing her picture since we didn't know who she was until now (and still don't know, who is she anyway?) like we are gonna see her on the street. People will always find a way to make themselves seem important and milk you for money. It's ridiculous.
ChristyLove2000 2 years ago 2
they showed the models pic, not the bitchy blogger lol
TyWalkerMusic 2 years ago
I was referring to the model, not the blogger. Remember, the model sued the blogger. Who cares about the lawsuit the blogger has with Goggle, it won't stick. My point is that the model thinks she's so important that she could justify suing someone because her ego was bruised. Honey, I think I was misunderstood.
ChristyLove2000 2 years ago
Ok, U.S. litigation craziness aside, if you're publishing something as non-fiction, you'd better make sure you cover your butt, legally speaking. With a valid court subpoena for the real name of the blogger, Google has no choice and Ms. Port doesn't have a case. In a fair world, Rosemary should be billed all the court costs for bringing the suit.

So long as you are not stating opinions as facts, I think you should be able to blog about anything or anybody you want, anonymously or not. How on earth can you sue someone for doing something that they were court ordered to do?
valiumsummer 2 years ago
sorry, but the law degree hanging on my wall begs to differ with you...you should seriously read up on libel laws, slander, and defamation of character statutes. also, it wouldn't kill you to gain an understanding of court ordered subpoenas.
rhenfield 2 years ago
This is just fucking stupid. It is NOT Google's job to fight her court battles for her! That's her job! Yes, the woman who brought the initial suit was a bitch (and a skank!), but it wasn't Google's job to spend lots of money protecting her privacy, especially after a court order demanding that they reveal her info. What a fucking bitch.
Anamegoesrighthere 2 years ago
what are you talking about? this suit has no merit. google is under no obligation to protect the privacy of a blogger. this bitch is getting the humiliation she deserves for being a cyber bully. you don't get to sue a service provider because you're too stupid to comprehend that freedom of speech doesn't apply to content. maybe learn something about slander and libel laws before you post nasty shit about a rival. better yet, grow the fuck up and stop acting like a high school mean girl.

Well, if that's the case their privacy policy is paper thin so is their stance of abiding by it. It could be a spurned ex lover or ex who is drudging up mud on her soon to be husband she suspects has a certain blog. I mean if google moved around their policy for this, who won't they do so for???
11nwprj 2 years ago
Well the thing is that newspapers will run this story, other blogs, it's been on television and look you're covering it. It is defamation of character in the long view, definitely. Who knows how this woman's life possibilities will be affected based on her name being plastered everywhere. I think her suit has merit and I would have too. It's tough situation but Google did not stand by their privacy policy. It sort of sets a rule that if they get any court order they will reveal your identity.
11nwprj 2 years ago
Google had a fucking court order to reveal her info. It is NOT their job to defy that order or spend tons of cash fighting it. Their privacy policy states that they won't hand your info over to just anyone, but they were required BY LAW to do so. Tough fucking luck.
Anamegoesrighthere 2 years ago
You can smell the stench of Google's "Ooohh the judge made me do it" disingenuousness a mile into the wind. Had this involved any of their own proprietary info they'd tie this up in courts till kingdom come or it was no longer proprietary -whichever comes last.

The rule of thumb that lawyers use is:
"Whatever you ask for in court, only plan on getting 1 to 10% for a judgement."
To get $180,000 to $1.8m, you need to ask for $18m. Mostly, it looks like she's saying (the blogger), that Google should have fought more with the courts over the privacy rights issue. So, to drive the point home, you hit them in the pocketbook to make them think twice next time this happens (and it will). BTW, i just would have hired the mob to hit her for calling me a skank.
