  • when extruding or beveling, it only moves in small increments, it doesnt let me drag the polygon selected as is shown in this video. Is there a way to change this?

  • @immrsam Might have to do with your zoom factor. When I get into a situation like this, I do the extrusion by dragging the Extrude spinners rather than the selected face itself.

  • Informative and well presented.

  • Yeah!! :D Box modelling rocks!

  • Awesome tutorial, great explaining!

  • Hi, do you know if there will be a quad chamfer feature in 3ds Max 2013? The current chamfer tool causes a lot of problem when you increase the itterations and often you have to manually cut edges to make things nice, so it would be a nice little feature to have.

  • @Hazmondo Actually, I don't know, I haven't really looked into 3ds Max 2013 yet, but even if I did, that's not information I could discuss before the release of the software.

    Cheers.

  • Keeps saying error, ive watched this vid several times and never before did this error msg occur, im using 2012 student version

  • @JamatoJAMATO it's possible, the movie was recorded using 2011. What error are you getting and when are you getting it?

  • @JamatoJAMATO is YOUTUBE saying error? Or 3D Studio Max software saying error?

  • Hi, can you re-upload please it keeps saying error :(

  • @naitsabes666 Make sure you have the right 3ds Max version. You need 3ds Max 2011 or better.

  • hey cuttie teacher ;D

  • On behalf of the Redsox 2008 club, we thank you

    For these inputs

  • Wow, great teaching

  • so awesome - this movie made my day

  • How do I create an object not along the x or y axis. I'm trying to model a tire of a car with blueprints I have and using the blueprints to make the wheels and align it for the perfect size, but when I create the object, it's always along the x and y planes and I can't model very accurately.

  • @Kayehx an object is created in the construction plane of the viewport you create it in. If you create the tire using a cylinder primitive and you do so in the Top view, the tire is created lying on the ground. If you create it in the Front or Left views, it'll be standing upright. Of course, you'll need to set up your blueprint in one of those views first.

  • why does it stop halfway ?

  • @Tamlyntamlyn It's the first part in a 2-part tutorial. Make sure you watch part 2 for the rest.

  • Each additional day it passes i S2 Youtube

    thx for the vid.

  • how can I set interface/buttons size as in this movie ?

  • @kalvyy go to Customize > Customize UI & Defaults Switcher > choose the ame-light UI scheme and click on Set. You'll need to restart 3ds Max. Watch the Using the Custom UI Switcher movie in the General Playlist for more info on using this dialog.

  • when ever i use the move tool, and try to extrude by holding shift it doesn't extrude and just moves the polygon it self from the object, i don't know why its happening can anyone help?

  • This "Howto" video is very helpful. It made sense of many of the concepts I've struggled w/ in the pass 12hrs of 3DS tinkering.

  • Thanks for your time, this really helped me and is what I was looking for.

  • Very Informative for beginners

  • great vid :)
