Don't really see why Mike had such a problem with the play, he was down to 14.5 BB by the looks of it, at that point, shoving with K9 is not such a bad play. Personally, I would try to work him down to 10 BB first before shoving like that though.
K9 heads-up is a favorite against a random hand... MIke is shortstacked so it's an easy all in here. Even if he knew he had QQ it would still be a 36% shot to eliminate him, and if he loses he still has the chip lead

Gus Hansen is a god awful player. Try reading someone that relies entirely on luck. People don't like Matusow because of his emotional swings. And that's a disadvantage. He DOES have emotional issues. However, having said that, he's FAR more skilled than Hansen. He's very good with odds and mathematics. And despite what someone said about being boring to play "by the book," most people DON'T use odds, and that's why they suck. They don't understand poker. It's NOT ABOUT playing by feel.
Poker has a HUGE amount of luck involved. Only certain scenarios allow skill to take a front runner to luck. And Gusses strategy for this was perfect. You HAVE to count on getting lucky at key moments in order to win tournaments. If you don't get lucky at these key points, you perish.
I think there's some propaganda out there trying to sell poker as a more skill based game then it actually is.
There is skill too it knowing what your odds are, your outs, your starting hand. But luck is a very very very big part of it. I don't understand how some people do it for a living sometimes because its so luck oriented and i've played for ten years. i've won my money, but realize one card and suck outs happen a lot.

Don't really see why Mike had such a problem with the play, he was down to 14.5 BB by the looks of it, at that point, shoving with K9 is not such a bad play. Personally, I would try to work him down to 10 BB first before shoving like that though.

K9 heads-up is a favorite against a random hand... MIke is shortstacked so it's an easy all in here. Even if he knew he had QQ it would still be a 36% shot to eliminate him, and if he loses he still has the chip lead

Gus is the man. Not only is he "The Great Dane" but he plays poker. He plays what he feels is right and not what the textbook says. I like that for a change. If every poker player would play poker after the book then everybody could win and it would be boring as hell. Just like little Mike Matusow. He has to stop winging. He is the biggest moaner. mike says that Gus is supposed to raise to 40, 60 to chop him down lol, why? so you can come over the top and make him fold. I don`t know what the stack sizes was or what the blinds where, but if mike was a shortstack. Nothing wrong with Gus shoving because its not so easy to pick AA all the time, and besides with QQ he is only a 3-1 favorite 1 out of three times Gus wins with K9 .

Gus Hansen is a god awful player. Try reading someone that relies entirely on luck. People don't like Matusow because of his emotional swings. And that's a disadvantage. He DOES have emotional issues. However, having said that, he's FAR more skilled than Hansen. He's very good with odds and mathematics. And despite what someone said about being boring to play "by the book," most people DON'T use odds, and that's why they suck. They don't understand poker. It's NOT ABOUT playing by feel.

Poker has a HUGE amount of luck involved. Only certain scenarios allow skill to take a front runner to luck. And Gusses strategy for this was perfect. You HAVE to count on getting lucky at key moments in order to win tournaments. If you don't get lucky at these key points, you perish.
I think there's some propaganda out there trying to sell poker as a more skill based game then it actually is.

There is skill too it knowing what your odds are, your outs, your starting hand. But luck is a very very very big part of it. I don't understand how some people do it for a living sometimes because its so luck oriented and i've played for ten years. i've won my money, but realize one card and suck outs happen a lot.

Yeah Im well aware of the skill aspect, I'm studying it and practicing it personally.
But ya my point is just that there is literally propaganda spread by the poker sites and organisers making it out to be more of a skill based, alot more. Then it actually is. Everyone knows you can have no experience and go deep in a major tournament and even win it, your first time playing. It's better to be lucky then skillfull in poker.

Your luck over the long run playing in ring games and mutliple tournaments will be about 50/50, just the same as everyone else. There are people who play for and win millions of dollars in the long run playing poker. Most people don't. To say that skill is overrated in poker is about as dumb as saying that skill is overrated in football.
If you've played hudreds of thousands of cash game hands and that's your opinion then 1 of 2 things is true. You are a liar, or you aren't very good.
