  • Karblonche! heartbreaking to watch though...

  • I'd guess at about a $4-$6,000 landing. But the money is probably not as much a loss to him as all the months and months of labor constructing/weathering/detailing. My stomach lurched when it hit. Try taking a pile of balsa sticks and plywood and scratch-build it to look just like a WWII bird. It's a hobby of passion. Research. Craftsmanship.

  • DF A <<< that's the "Belle" :). Ground effect is a crazy thing.

  • Tragic! That is a beautiful plane.

  • You mean to tell me I sat here for a whole year?

  • When the silver one landed I saw the wreckage of the green one in the backround

  • that sucks. what a letdown. that plane has to be expensive as hell.

  • Nicely Done!

  • Ahh redemption!

  • ROFL. judging by the takeoff's i wondered which one would crash xD It looks like he crashed it on purpose hahahaha

  • The virginity is strong in this one.

  • RIP the 10 midget crew members

  • It cost about the price of a good used car.

  • ouchhhhhh,, what happened there??? CFIT,, controled flight into terrian

  • how much was it to fix the one that crashed

  • WoW! Toobad :-/

  • WOW just WOW i couldnt tell the difference, was he trying to land or kamakazie the floor?

  • Didn't have enough power on landing and the decent incline was too great, solution, pull up a bit and increase power a smidgen

  • POR FAVOR ...!! LOS QUE JUEGAN CON LOS R:C: DEBERIAN TENER UNA PÁGINA APARTE..!! O BIEN PONER BIEN CLARO EN EL VIDEO .. "RC" PARA NO PRDER TIEMPO VIENDO,,,, JUGUETES..!

  • Flaps?

  • Looks like he was on a chem. spray mission along with the other stuff up there!

  • Looks to me like the plane stalled.

  • Came in a little too hot. DAMN!

  • What are you doing!? SAVE THE AIRCREW QUICKLY!!

  • 2.58 is the moment he needs a pillow

  • Comment removed

  • Good job !!

  • the crash was a fail the wing blew off and stuff like that and one year later it was fine i find that funny they must have been pretty good at building models

  • 2:58 why waste time

  • Crash is at 2:58.....Wow. That crash hurt me....

  • pilot error

  • @Kpilot786457 Ya think XD.

  • What ever happened to scale speed?

  • The ADF B-17 pilot has more money than skills.

  • why always the big ones crash more than the small ones?

  • @resurrectd : Because their pilots have more money than skills.

  • @2Phast4Rocket Indeed

  • und that is why i dont fly rc planes or helicopters,. cause ive destroyed so many. so i stick to the rocks or the water

  • dam wind

  • considering i watched this video the left wing flexed a lil bit looks like there was wind pushing it down as well wing has a weared factor to any plane any size and it looks like when he was landing he last to much speed and yea crashed

  • Aww man, you can tell they are about to stall when their wings start rocking like that, just needed a little bit more gas and ya would have been fine.

  • anybody got ductape

  • PWND PWND PWND

  • @DiamondPilotDan you don't think he knows that? thats where this guy used to be in the r/c world.what you're talking about gets old after a while and the people who can will take it to the next step.you sound like an idiot.oh well...everyone makes mistakes...

  • @TheAnacondom everyone makes mistakes like your parents did.. lol. sorry. you insulted me so i had to insult you once. :P and calling me an idiot..another mistake. why, Cuz I despise RC planes worth over $1000? and why stoop to calling me an idiot?? you don't even know me... jerk

  • So, was that mechanical error or what? Was it coming in too steep, and had an elevator pushrod break? Or was it just in too much of a dive, too fast?

  • at least there was no one on the plane! and no one was killed!! pmsl! bad luck

  • Well, there's $12,000 down the drain!

  • Nice landing (jk)

  • Idoiot u don't go head down u land with back wheels

  • That had to be a poorly timed mechanical failure right? It just nosed over last minute

  • 2:57 that lannding approch was way too steep to make an effective landing.

  • it gives a real plane sound

    nice

  • I was sorry to see the B-17 get damaged. I would say he was a bit too steep in his final to touch down. I fly a lot of muti engine airplanes and have many in my fleet (B-17, B-25, P-38, C-47, PBY, A-10, F-14, and a SU27). I've managed to crash a few along my learning curve. Muti engine/motor planes carry a lot of extra weight. Wing loading is probably about 30% higher than single engine planes. Except for my C-47 and PBY the rest of my planes tend to fly like bricks and mistakes are common.

  • I knew the green one would crash

  • when i'll have more time and skills i would really like to put my hands on one of these

  • Two scary approaches only difference is the plane was in 1 piece after the second one. Is he a crap pilot or is the plane a lot heavier and balanced differently to the silver one??

  • 2:57 is when it hits the wallet.

  • When I take a look at that crash I would say that the second plane wasn't repaired after that, but just replaced with a complete new plane...

  • that dont look like 12 feet. side.or long

  • sounded like the still had the throttle down when he crashed and he just nose dived which is strange. Also at the start i thought i was the silver one that crashed because it sounded like the engines were failing, i was wrong gladly cos i think the silver one was beautiful

  • Barring some sort of failure why the hell didn't he go around? It was obvious he was not just carrying too much speed but his nose was pointed down too. Then he nearly does it again with the same landing style. The guy needs a buddy box.

  • they don't look very scale when they take off.

  • @drod103164 That's because they were taking off from grass. The real planes required a paved surface.

  • @TheHylander1314 i was talking about their climb out after take off. they climb like a fighter.

  • Why did I know it was gonna be the green one?

  • I noticed the 1 year later flight he flew on a day with MUCH less wind. The first part the wind was quite strong and very risky with a plane like that.

  • Why is there so much hate in the comments every time some one crash a large Rc plane. When i crashed my DC3 on maiden i was crushed but i learned from my misstakes. Im not rich but i use every spare penny for this hobby. Sad to see this crash with such beautiful planes. But the only thing to do is to start over again. Thanks for sharing.

  • money isnt a problem

  • Wow, they look so realistic! If you blew it up to scale, I would think I was watching some old World War II video. Especially with some flack for that crash :)

  • id laugh to death if he crashed it 2 years in a row

  • 2:53 your doing it wrong..

  • where is the tail wheel???

  • The crash is at 2:50.

  • Wow...a little steep on that approach. Sucks it tore it up so bad.

  • erm Im not sure a plane should look like that after landing.LOL!

  • LOL that was really steep of an angle for landing.

  • 2:57 to c it crash

  • That was a very realistic and heroic crash.Beautifully made planes.

  • Oh i'll be all popular and in with the youtube crowd and say.....31 dislikes by the german fighters! Oh am i popular now can i live my life to the full and have a cheeky smile thinkin i wrote this comment...i'm just waiting for the thumbs up if you blah blah comments now. Thank and goodnight!

  • Did you see that ME 109 pass by at the end just before the crash? THAT was impressive!

  • dont make a job of it

  • u should probably put one of those new go pro cams in the pilot seat in stead of those fake pilots

  • hey instead of the fake pilots in the cab u should put one of those go pro cams in there

  • welp....$300 down the drain?

  • @callerofmusic I think more then $300 mate :O

  • Anyone else think 'oh, no, not again' at 4'46?!

  • 2:57 for the ones who just want to see the damn carnage XD

  • that whole flight was a disaster waiting to happen with that guy at the controls

  • pause at 2:46 and you can see the wreckage of Memphis Belle

  • wow looked like he powered it to the ground.

  • almost looked like a purpose crash or lack of hours

  • that enginesong<3

  • flight of the phoenix

  • Probably german flak...

  • @Majkyboy95 LOL!

  • @Majkyboy95 loool

  • Looks great ! Excellent !!

Wing loading and the approach speed looks just right for this plane.

The only problem is the absence of flaps, which are essential for this kind of & scale of planes.

  • he cant land scale

  • I see so many videos that show the RC pilot coming in WAY too fast for landing. Line up for approach a long way out, kill your speed and glide in. No need to power the thing all the way to the landing strip.

  • My favorite plain

  • @gennythesmarty

Never thought of that. I'll mention it to him next time I see him.

  • @railnwings lol

  • @railnwings lol people are so stupid

  • @gennythesmarty gee being a smart ass makes you look stupid the landing gear was down he just came in to steep.

  • @gennythesmarty in the footage you can clearly see that he had landing gear DOWN. as for the "pull up", it is not that simple. if a big plane does not have enough airspeed, it WILL NOT pull up. also, it seems from the video that unless he was a complete twit (which is unlikely considering he built that beauty) he would know how to land. this was caused by incorrectly programmed transmitter, not stupidity. you don't seem to know anything abour rc, so go sniff a squirrel.

  • @RCllamadude True....although it did look like he had enough airspeed.

  • @RCllamadude Go sniff a squirrel? I need to write that one down....

  • @MrJp990 NO! no stealing my epic tourettes fueled phrases! jk, feel free to use it.

  • @RCllamadude Lol... I have just never heard that one before XD

  • @gennythesmarty Its not as easy as a real plane or bomber...

  • @gennythesmarty Because you know so much more about how to fly than the pilots who fly these things all the time, right? He obviously had some sort of failure, or he wouldn't have crashed like that. Think before you speak, idiot.

  • Great to see and hear! Thanks for posting.

  • This is a FANTASTIC video!! I've never seen anything like it. The views of the B-17's in air could pass for the real thing. It is quite a thrill. The detail on these crafts is AWESOME. Congrats to the pilot who came back a year later. IT'S A REAL INSPIRATION THAT YOU CAN WIN DESPITE ADVERSITY! Way to Go!

  • WHy do rc shows seem to happen on the windiest days lol

  • @railnwings awesome crash

  • 2:50 Landing, landing landing, OH SHIT!

  • Damn, I wanted to see it crash a second time - one year later.

  • Were these hand made, or were they bought? And how expensive are they?

  • WOW...That was expensive!

  • 2:58 we do this for the imperial air force -KAMIKAZE-

  • Extreme nose down attitude on approach. Yeah, great flying...

  • 2:50 for the crash

  • when does it crash?

  • i like how this looks so much like the rel thing if it were flying up 10 times higher

  • DUCKTAPE!

  • Imagine the feeling the pilot would've had if he had crashed it AGAIN on the same field, oh man!

  • Absolutely beautiful models!

  • Oh dude! I thought he was going to crash again at the end.

  • OMFG! is the grass ok

  • My heart sank when that amazingly beautiful historic replica shredded on the runway.

  • @AOEStrategist -- Read the description. They repaired it and it's back in the air.

  • bet the owner was pissed

  • nice scale takeoffs and flying. it's the old adage, builders can build and fliers can flier... never the two shall meet.

  • It looks like the nose gunner and navigator were killed, everybody else would have probably survived.

  • Time saver: skip to 2:55 to see the green B-17 crash.

  • that 20 mm really did sone damage huh?

  • That Suck's !! Glad to see it Fixed .

  • This incident resulted in the tiniest court-martial the Air Corps had ever seen.

  • Awsome. Where can I buy one of these?

  • SPOILER ALERT!!! Thanks intro description.. Beautiful Works of art tho!

  • nice machines. the scale speed you guys fly around a would tear a full scale apart.

  • Beautiful Aircraft!!!

  • i thought it was going to crashes again feww!!

  • I didn't saw the german fighter that brought him down 0.0

  • Very nice job, fellas!

  • It doesnt look like a incorrect trans set up to me. Looked like plan old pilot error, the plane flew just fine for several min before the bad landing. What was wrong with the trans?

  • Im glad you got it rebuilt, I felt bad for you. My little brother back in the day spent months building the old fashion ones with the stretch fabric and dope. He wouldnt fly it until I got home from Viet Nam. I was in USAF. We took it out to the old air field, he took off and it got out of range. Did a nose dive straight in. We picked up wheels 50 yards away! Poor kid. He cried so I took him to the hobby shop and used my leave buy back money and bought him another kit. Ill never forget that.

  • where is the air raid sirens

  • 1 year later.......... CRASH!!!

  • I know he must have been completely heart broken. Second attempt was a little hairy looking too but glad to see he made it in.

  • Gorgeous birds. My Dad was a Tech Sarge (crew chief) on one in the 93rd Bombardment Group. Hopeful that someday there will be an Electric ARF available. I'll be first in line to buy one.

What the Chinese EPP foam kit makers don't understand is that there were far more B-24's built than B-17's during the war.. Just that the US press corps didn't want to make the drive North from London up to Manchester.

  • The pilot crashed due to incorrect transmitter set-up. Not lack of simulator time.

  • @railnwings I thought that was suspicious, the way he smoothly flew into the ground... great landing the second time, though! Thanks for showing us that!

  • @railnwings how can a bad transmitter set-up cause you to crash, ppl always blame there tools !!

  • 2nd landing was much more gentle! If only the pilot had learned that on a simulator

  • Sound the air raid siren !!! Haha nice airplane !!!

  • 2.55

  • I loved this vid because of the ending. That was one of the loveliest B-17 models I've ever seen. It looked so real that if it weren't for the sound quality, I'd have thought it was the real thing. My heart really sunk when it crashed. Hell, even the crashed plane looked almost real. My heart really lifted when I saw that baby flying after the repairs. Totally awesome RC plane and owner! Thanks for posting this.

  • "WERE GETTIN-static-ERMAN ALTRILLERY!"

  • That was the best landing i'v ever seen! I liked the way you made it come and and down like a real plane! I have one my self, its Boeing 747 its already 2 years old a big bigger then the B 17. I have two Hornet planes and one bomber, I always forget the bomber planes name! I had a huge accident with the bomber, but I repaired it in about 5 months.

  • What beautiful models, its a shame for the crash!! Wish i had 10G for a Plane!!

  • What made it nosedive like that, windgust or a radio/servo malfunction?

  • lol, this ruined their day. 10k lost. BUT must've been cool to see it crash!

  • shoulda gone to specsavers..

  • Kind of severe glide plane on that landing eh. 0.0

  • I agree.

  • Ok I have flown rc aircraft before, but why is it every time someone takes of with a plane that is a massive scale a/c they rocket into the sky like a bat out of hell? A nice low gradient takeoff would look better for all these larger aircraft.

  • @noodl9 I agree completely. A scale take off is more pleasing to see. What I've found is the the good builders are rarely good pilots.

  • can only imagine the work and attention that goes into a plane like that. I was rooting for you on the second landing attempt!! Good job man =D

  • "its the rookies....they got the rookies"

  • B-17s are the best planes in the world EVAR

  • Good landing at 2:57
