  • jesus christ, good job.

  • Wow! I agree with what everyone else has already said -- awesome job.

  • excellent version! your guitar is really hot. Joe's voice comes in from nowhere... pics are the best I've ever seen about The Clash. thanks.

  • now this beat is known for by MIA paper planes

  • You did an awesome job remastering this your own guitar work. I think even the lads would be seriously impressed. I know the original is the US festival. But your guitar work makes it alot better, for us.

  • @agamemnon67 what are you talking about about? the original being from the US festival? this live versoin is on The Clash live from here to eternity

  • any way to get this + your cover on an MP3?

  • Don't push us when we're hot!

Or we'll tear down your kingdom...

The thing is, its a brilliant song,

    Great music

n a brilliant riff guitar added...

Thank You Bro, cough cough lol!

  • Go score on E street, around 2nd Avenue, down where the homeboys all wear black to fade in with the shadows. The prices are good, the quality is score, and every dollar you spend goes for bullets, automatics, bootleg sneakers, and baby formula. People are dying for your fix, be it herb or coke or smack or whatever you are strung out on. If you are lucky you'll make it home without being busted or plugged by some sap with a nine. Cough it up loud and strong. I've been there.

  • its excellent but makes me cry ..it was always played at the end of the night at Middlesbrough rock garden

  • this is the Best live version of this track

    emotionaly

  • check out the song on my page

  • OK!!!

  • @Amsterdam005ify SHUT UP SMACKHEAD!

  • great

  • Man, I wish you could post some tabs...

  • where is this version recorded from?

  • Sounds pretty close to the version on "From Here To Eternity-Live"

  • it's the left channel of the FHTE version + my guitar cover

  • oh, thanks! Well done!

  • @MrSocrates777 Seriously, you overdubbed yourself onto The Clash? It's really good, but I'd like to hear the original, too.

    Thanks for putting this up.

  • @JOVA91bg it's from 1980, in germany or the netherlands if I remember correctly. It was released on a bootleg called "the clash live from here to eternity" which also has a great version of the 'magnificent seven', among others, definitely worth checking out..

  • @JOVA91bg it's from 1980, from germany or the netherlands if i remember correctly. It was released on a bootleg called "the clash -live from here to eternity"

  • i hope hamsterhairs that you realize paper planes sampled off of this song because pop music has no voice of its own.

  • the bass in paper planes is sweet though

  • 5:51 "sing in tune, you bastards!" XD

  • LOL

  • i love this version

  • thats not what they were singing about.

  • so they were singing about non-support by the US in Europe and Asia, and increased support in the Muslim controlled lands in Africa?

  • I love Clash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent. papapapapapapapasan,take me home.

  • This version is better than the record. Not often you can say that. As a Gibson man I would like to think it is because the Jones man is playing a Les Paul on this version. Am I wrong? God bless Joe, he was the best front man ever. If you love the Clash, you will understand that we all miss him greatly. He was the best.

  • no, you're right joe always played his black telecaster and mick played his multiple les pauls.

  • @currylord this tune always seems better live....the gibson makes a difference but, i feel its just a song that comes alive when played live......long live the clash!!!!

  • @currylord did he not use a Lesy? because i know for london calling (album) he used a strat

  • It Doesn't Get much better than that really, does it?

  • the clash are great but im more a rocknroll kinda guy. acdc rule.

  • This is the version off "From Here To Eternity" minus the mastering they did on the LP release.

    Ace. :)

  • it's great man!existe algo tan bonito???

  • Fanfuckingtastic

  • That sounds absolutely fantastic mate. My favourite Clash song.

  • MrSocrates, I've never felt compelled enough to ever respond to anything on this website, but damn dude. THIS IS AWESOME! Great job man, I love it.

  • I really like this guitar overdub Mr Socrates... but I feel guilty for liking it. Feels a bit like sacrilege, you know, like doodling over someone's artwork... I don't know, perhaps I'm being too sensitive. That's a great edgy tone you have at any rate, and a good feel for the music. Are you playing a Les Paul...? cheers for posting.

  • I understand how you feel, but I'm not trying to replace clash's version or anything. The original is always there in FHTE cd. I just like to play their songs.

That day I was playing an Ibanez RG 350, my other guitar, an Epiphone Les Paul would sound too muffled. Thanks for listening

  • can you put up the tabs for this?

  • Try London's Burning homepage, they might have a tab for this song there

  • What was done to the guitar in this? It sounds so much better and like, more epic. I love it. Makes my favorite song even better.

  • this is a joke right?

anyway, as the brief info says it's a guitar overdub, wich means that I recorded my guitar over the song and mixed them together

thanks everybody for the +5000 hits

  • Is this track that you overdubbed from the From Here to Eternity Tour?

  • it's the one from the 'from here to eternity' CD

  • You guys should be less quick to judge, and put the lyrics of the two songs up against each other.

The clash song is from the perspective of a british national who is tired of immigrants comming to his nation and mucking up the place (not something joe believed, thats why its such a great song)

The MIA song is about an immigrant to england (from india even, a former british opressed state) selling drugs to get by. Its a direct response.

    Im impressed.

  • actually you have it wrong...The first verse refers to the alienation and racism suffered by immigrants despite their attempts to integrate into British society. The second verse concerns the abandonment of children in Vietnam who were fathered by American soldiers during the Vietnam War. The third verse contrasts the American Dream as seen through the eyes of an Amerasian child with a dystopian vision of American reality. The final verse considers the plight of immigrants throughout the world.

  • Certainly one way to look at it. I wouldnt say either of us are wrong. Theyre both valid interpetations imho.

  • I think it's about vietnam too

  • i think its awsome seeing other ppls interpretations of songs covers are awsome

this one is better then paper planes tho strummer is a god RIP

  • hm that sounds familar *cough paper planes cough*

  • maybe thats because they took it from the clash you faggot, this song was made in 1980s

  • i know that's what i was trying to say

  • oh my bad buddy <3

  • fuckin "hip hop" these days always gotta steal guitar riffs

    what the fuck.

  • yeah seriously..

  • they honestly do those retarts got nothing to make up so they take from the greats

  • man paper planes abused this rythm

i cant believe they changed this sad song about what making sandwatches and weed n bones x(

    fuck

    im sorry joe

    i miss you

  • Straight to hell is about a national who is fed up with immigrants and crime.

Paper planes is about an immigrant who has no choice but to sell drugs to live.

Theres even a line in the MIA song, "Already going to hell pumping that gas" thats a direct response to the clash song's demand to "go straight to hell"

"Yo chico...we got a message for yah. VAMANOS muchacho!"

  • ithats my favorite part :D

    "yo chico...."

    hahah
