Teamster rally in Memphis for organizing FED-EX mechanics. Part 1

I have 2 brothers that work for a company that is (should say was) represented by the Teamsters. They are out looking for Jobs now. The last time they went on strike - at the Union Reps direction - they were paid $25.00 a week for Groceries till that ran out and were told that there was no more money. WHat happened to all the union dues that they paid. Where was the Union when they were loosing their house? Oh - they were on a golfcourse in Floridia.

If you watch Hoffa you can see how interested he is in what the FedEx mechanics are saying. Yeah it looks like he wakes up everyonce in a while and claps or hoots. But he is just there becuase this is his business, making money off of people who are either lazy or disgruntled. I bet if you ask most hard working people they would say they dont want a union. I work hard and love this company. The teamsters can go ruin some other company. Go FedEx!!

You obviously don't enjoy working here and you talking about it while working on aircraft scares the h - - - out of me and I am sure others. First of all I don't see where a nerve was struck. Secondly, I don't work for FED-EX. I am a proud Teamster for 9 years. I would like to see the workers at FED-EX have a decent living wage, not contributing more into their health coverage, and have a secure pension.

Instead of the response you gave, you should have posted the truth and said "I don't work at FED-EX. I am a proud Teamster for 9 years. I would like to see my pockets padded with the cash that the proud and hard working non-union FED-EX employees make so that I can be RICHER". Ever since ALPA joined the ranks, there has been nothing but turbulance between the FED-EX pilots and other employees so having a Teamsters union would be total devastation. Try going to Wal-Mart and leave FED-EX alone.

Moerecsec814 something is wrong with unions trust me. It causes an extremely unsafe work environment because the focus of the employee becomes "lets drain the company anyway I can." They are not focused on their job and that is when accidents happen. Better wages funny ask the union workers that are taking paycuts right now and getting laid of. The only thing the Teamsters Union wants is more members and more money! Please have enough common sense to see this!! Purple Pride all the way!!

Obviously you must have some kind of managerial position at FED-EX. Your idea is "let's get the most out of our employees for less and at the same time let's cut their health and pension benefits." Dues are only 2 1/2 times the hourly wage. If an employee makes $20 per hour, his or her monthly dues are $50. What are they currently paying for their health benefits per month? How much is being cut from their pension? There is no purple pride for these employees! Only for Fred Smith there is.

You have no idea what you are talking about! I am not a manager nor would I want to be with thankless employees like you! All you are trying to do is drain the company dry with union efforts instead of doing your job. Take yourself to another company that already has a union since you want one so bad. Better than that just go work for the union and you can negotiate until you heart is content. I am a 30 year employee and appreciate my job!

It is none of your business what my job title is at fedex, however I can tell you that I am not a manager or supervisor and 3 of my immediate family members work here and are grateful for what we have! We are not trying to drain a company that feeds us to bring an outside source to the company! Do you watch the news and see the bailouts and problems unions cause! The car companies would be in better shape if it was not for the union What can the union do now NOTHING! They drained GM for sure

Right on cruise. I would say the majority of FedEx workers laugh at unions trying to get in here. The teamsters have tried and failed for years. I expect this to continue. We know we already have it good.

I totally agree with you jtp212. The only purpose of the Teamsters Union is to gain more membership for more money in their pockets and if you don't belong they will flatten your tires and threaten your family. I have witnessed this with friends of mine. I dealt with them for years in as an HR director. They make deals to get rid of the employees that need to be fired by ugly backdoor tactics. The only thing a Union does it protect the bad employee! So get away from my company Teamsters.

The purpose for the Teamsters is to assure every worker they represent have a voice behind them in their work place. If you dont have a union in your workplace, you dont have guaranteed wages, health benefits or a secure pension. By forming a union with your co-workers, together you will have the strength to negotiate a legally binding contract with your employer that includes better wages, affordable health care, a secure retirement and a safer workplace.

I work at FedEx and I hope this company never gets a union. All you want to do is get some of the hard earned pay I have worked for. Unions had their purpose but that was back in the 18 and early 1900's. This is 2009 there is nothing the teamsters can do for the workers at FedEx.
