OSA sent a guy to my house yesterday disguised as a "location scout", who happened to come to my house 15 minutes after I got back from spreading apr 12 flyers around (and after a guy tried to follow me home). Now I carry a camera around wherever I go.
I am not making a positive or negative statement when I say this, but it seems that we use a lot of the same tactics they use, in terms of righting down license plate numbers and stuff.

When someone is stalking you, you are within your rights to take down plate numbers. You are NOT allowed to take down plate numbers in order to BEGIN the stalking.
Well, a lot of the goodness/badness of surveillance is in what you do with it. When the PIs take our info, it's so they can hassle us, make up charges against us, try and get us to stop protesting however they can. When we turn around and take their info, it's to protect ourselves and our right to protest. What critics and Anons do is not illegal, and it's for good purposes.
I think there is a big difference between writing down the license plate of someone following you, and hiring private investigators to follow people around. Scientology uses this as an intimidation tactic.
