  • Hi Dan,

You're amazing, great blues guitar player. I think you are making things too hard for yourself with the double stops in "The Stumble". I uploaded a small instruction by Duke Robillard, it's a real eye-opener!

It's called How to play the double stops in The Stumble.flv

  • @gibson3524 I think you are right!!

  • FU@K all the people saying your babbling...Dude that was MAD PROPS to Freddie! His stuff is not the easiest to get down. Plus this isn't a professional production it's youtube and your jam room....respectifully...sheesh. I like the ad lib. • Good vid, dude. If I were you I'd disable the comments, way too many pricks and assholes on Hate Central, otherwise known as You Tube. I just started making vid's and granted the video quality is not to good, but man the assholes came out of the woodworks. Least we got the balls to put our playing out there, but I don't need crap from bored little 5'2' 105 lb, 14 year olds! Good vid, man!!

  • thanks for taking the time fellow brother of blues

  • Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the post.

  • A great idea and you have a nice sound but if I were you I'd rather demonstrate that slower with a rythm box.

  • i love you videos man, you got killer tone. most people i cant stand blabbin away, but your different. you remind me of this one guy whos really intertaining to watch.

  • Thanks dude!!

  • @skydog46 thats carcasm my friend.

  • Shut up and play the guitar. I waited for all the blabber and then he couldn't even play it without making too many mistakes.

  • I can't tell if he can play on account of all the blabber which I didn't have the patience to endure...

  • les pauls are good yea, but i dont know why, i just dont go for the classic rock looking guitars, i only been using ibanez so far, im thinking about expanding my horizons eventually

  • Dude:S talk less play more!

  • Fool, go to hairdresser

  • LOL!! You may go to the hairdresser. I go to a barber.

  • You can also check out Peter Green's more recent version (closer to the original Freddie King version) posted here on youtube. It can be seen around 2:40 on the min/sec counter.

  • Regarding the differculty with the double stops played as fills over a stop time verse, if I may offer a suggestion. Play them with just two fingers (perferably the 2nd & 3rd fingers) in a downward slide, sliding back up with the same two fingers only when neccessary. It will allow you to play this part smoother. Check out "bluesplayinhen" 's two versions of Hideaway. Even thought the part is differant it is executed in the same manner. 'Hope that helps.

  • I just found this video. Thanks for the good tips. Key of E is the home turf for so much great blues. The double stops high on the neck is some useful info. Thanks.

  • nice work, thanks

  • superb, right up my street. I think Mr.king would be very proud!

  • im just wondering what string gauge do you use?

  • By the way. At 4:30 the ba da baldadah what is that Your playing?

  • lol @ Your face while Your playing looks like a cum face, I'd have one of those too if I could handle a Guitar like that...

I think the time to get My first lesson will be soon... anywhoo great sound man from a perfect guitar!

  • sounds cool dude

    nice playing!

  • Check out my performance of "The Stumble" by Freddie King that I just uploaded yesterday.

  • I played The Stumble on the '63 SG Special

  • @wnorcott Not bad....cool tone from the SG Jr.!!!

  • this might prove to be helpful. thanks bud.

  • What exactly are you doing at 4:13, with the chord that sounds like it's alternating between a sus and a 7th or something like that. Is it alternating between the B and E, kind of like what you explain starting at 4:39? Reminds me of a cool riff that Stevie Ray Vaughan plays in the solo to "Empty Arms".

  • Also, for the stuff you explain at 4:39 and after, isn't a key part of the riff hammering on with your index finger on the first fret at the third string? Also are you trilling on the same fret at 5:25 - i.e. alternating between open string and the first fret on the fourth string? Sounds great whatever it is!

  • Just pulled out the "68" to give it a whirl Dan..thanks and great job. PS Drop by the LPF JZ again and say hello!

  • Wow, I think you just gained another subscriber. Great licks! That was excellent as hell.

    *Runs upstairs to practice guitar*

  • Need some more practice on the Freddy King chord, but your hair is perfect!

  • LOL!!

  • Hey thanks for explaining that A to E7 thing-I was that "some guy" who wanted to know just what you were doing there.

  • Show them the stumble turnaround.

  • The chords E C#7 F#7 B7 E...show the positions

  • New grovers on the Paul? Looks like it. What kind? I want to put some on my R8. Did you have to drill any new holes in the headstock?

  • They're about 4 yrs old actually. You may be thinking of my R9? No new holes, but the hole for the post had to be widened.

  • How did I miss this vid?

My favorite King to listen to! Thanks for the vid.

    Merry Christmas Dan!

  • Thanks everyone!! Merry Christmas to all!!

  • I'm gonna work on those licks, cheers! Have a great xmas!!

  • Really nice. Thanks for the great tone!
