These games don't have a formal command console, and even if they did its difficult to reprogram a button with so many functions, especially on this console. Interestinglly enough however me and my friend modified a copy of Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) with a special command tool, which actually improved the controls, some of the glitches, and load times. However it required a special emulator to play, and isnt duplicatable.
part of the issue(re:bad controls) is that cd-i was not made for experienced gamers it was aimed at middle aged people as a user friendly multi-tasker that offers as much for children as it does for adults,the fact that it failed at both was not part in the phillips marketing plan

I can think of one modern game that deserves a Golden Raspberry award for worst game. The Nightmare of Druaga: Fushigino Dungeon. The game plays out pretty decently as an old-fashioned dungeon crawler, but it's horrible because it penalizes you so heavily for messing up. Like if you die, you lose every item you worked so hard to get in all of the previous dungeons.
Some of the character designs make your allies like like evil creeps. On a side note are you still doing this or have you taken a break due to the horribleness of this thing.

Nintendo feared that if these two companies left on there own could take over the market with all the money, technology, and innovation they had behind them. It failed for Philips, but as the market in the late 90's showed it worked for Sony. Nintendo made Sony mad for backing out contracts and they made their own system that was a dominate power for two systems.
BTW that controller is not the standard controller that came with the system. Most came with the 2 button contollers that looked like the NES controllers. That 3rd button does nothing because it isnt the controller most people had. I would know i had and loved this system as a kid!
About Wand of Gamelon, it's basically the exact same damn game as Faces of Evil gameplay-wise, though you play as Zelda (obviously) as Link gets captured instead... and that's about it.

I saw a Let's Play of it (without showing the purchase of 99 of every item and the battle to collect rubies to get them), and it was obvious that the controls were worthless, with seemingly simple jumps being problematic.

Holy shit dude. This was a great review of an atrocious game. I can't thank you enough for putting up with that poor excuse for controls to get a video of it made. I was always curious about this game and just never made the effort to attain it and play it. I can't wait for the next 4 parts.
I can only give credit to the CD-i Zelda trilogy for doing one thing right: Identifying the real protagonist of the franchise. The games should've been called "Legend of Link" from the start, but they instead titled the games after Zelda, who is a rarely seen NPC for the entire franchise. Finally, we have a title that's honest!

Ive played faces of evil, is was quite easy, and it had very nice graphics for its day, gameplay was moderate when you got used to it.

wow Link is a pyshic! He did know Zelda was kidnapped somehow even before it happened. I knew these games were notoriously bad, but you really broke it down to its core. Great in depth review!

most bosses die in 1 hit meaning that they are weaker than regular enemies or other bosses that die in more than 1 or 2 hits, meaning that Ganon is WEAKER than a regular enemie.

Holy shit dude. This was a great review of an atrocious game. I can't thank you enough for putting up with that poor excuse for controls to get a video of it made. I was always curious about this game and just never made the effort to attain it and play it. I can't wait for the next 4 parts.

I can only give credit to the CD-i Zelda trilogy for doing one thing right: Identifying the real protagonist of the franchise. The games should've been called "Legend of Link" from the start, but they instead titled the games after Zelda, who is a rarely seen NPC for the entire franchise. Finally, we have a title that's honest!
