she gets all the notes and phrasing but lacks some of the expression and coloring that, say, Segovia had. I'm sure that, in time, she will be able to do as well as he did. Some of the coloring issues are due to the instrument ..it is very bright but lacks warmth in the bass registers. Needless to say, she is a splendid artist ...I can't wait to hear her play as the years progress as I am sure she will only continue to get better and better.

Segovia was excellent in his interpretations of Spanish music and music of the Romantic period but was awful in his Bach interpretations. This piece is a study written by Francisco Tarrega based on Bach Gigue. I hope your suggestion was to be more expressive in Tarrega's composition and not in Bach's works.

Yes, I do believe that she'll loosen up in her interpretations. Hopefully it doesn't take as long as it took John Williams who although is great is still a little stiff at times.

I agree. This is a Gropp guitar from Germany. I believe the other guitar she plays is an older Kohno. She does a great job on this one, though.

I think people just prefer various tonality, so they love certain guitars more than others. For me, Li Jie is way too good to consider such matters here. Wow!
