It is a dense foam insulation used in construction. I buy it at a building supply store. It comes in a large sheet in various thickness. (Extruded polystyrene)
There is some how to articles on Game-Terrain (info instead of com)
Yes and no. The foams do have a grain to them. For lines going one direction this might work, for lines going across the grain not so well.
I have seen tools for pressing brick shapes into foam made from a 'scaled' brick size piece of metal. They sharpened the edges to nice crisp 90degree edges. When pressed into the foam the edges would cut the foam a bit.
Exacto knife and a pencil is easier for most hobbiers to do.
so what kind of styrafoam is that and if it isnt styrafoam can u tell me what it is , im trying to figure out how to build a city, dont make fun of me im a noob at this stuff, ty
We're all noobs, dude. On my youtube channel I have a link to a HowTo site I am making up (it is gameterrain then a dot like this . then info not com) easier to go to my channel.
In my playlists there, there is a series of vids where I tell most things you need to know too.
But basically it is an 'extruded high-density styrofoam insulation' used in the building trade. The two types most common are DOW (blue) and OwenCorning (pink) Try a good sized building supply store. Phone around.
Awesome buildings! Not only do you provide great tips and 'how-to's,' you also provide inspiration that helps me get past some of my own difficulties in both my hobby projects and life itself. Thank you so much!!

couldn't you just make the lines by pressing in the ruler in stead of using an exacto knife?

Usually I cut those bits out. Amazing how many videos I have to trash where I say part of something, then stare into space for 3 friggin' minutes.
Everyone looks herbal around 2:00. Coffee break, ...it should still be "nap time".

Windy and generally not too nice, suppose to get better though.
If I can keep this inside space I'll build a permanent table to play on.
