You're right.

Sega would later add two power-extending accessories to the Game Gear: the Battery Pack and the Power Battery. The Battery Pack allowed a couple extra AA batteries into the system. The Power Battery was a large rechargeable battery that actually attached to the back of the Game Gear, further extending the system's life away from the wall wart.

Still though, they last 5 hours, which is longer than all but two of the road trips I have ever been on in my life. And that is WITHOUT taking into account the option of bringing spare batteries.

The only way Sega ever sold their products was to bash Nintendo up. What did Nintendo do? They remained quiet concentrating on better games, and consoles in secrecy as those loud mouthed arrogant bastards of Sega prattled on... and now look where Nintendo is and well.... Sega went bankrupt years ago and Sonic works for Nintendo now!!

The Game Gear and the Lynx had terrible battery life. It's like driving a Hummer. The technology is too young for color. The Game Gear lacked third party support that Game Boy had.

Because it was huge and uncomfortable to hold, the battery life was 2 hours tops, and it hardly had any games worth playing.

Game Gear was successful, it just wasn't as successful as GameBoy, it was far better than Lynx.

Just like DS vs PSP. PSP is just not as successful as DS, but its far better than N-Gage.

If you all want to take a look at the commercial NINTENDO put out with the really cute girl in the bikni(representing the Wii) vs the chubby girl(representing the PS3) nothing has changed. Most Game Gear games are rubbish anyway, despite the color. The rings in Sonic games are static, and the bar stage in Streets of Rage 2 has only lights - no tables and chairs.

Let's compare both libraries before hastily concluding Game Gear to be better. Color is not everything, that the Game Boy is such a success even before it had color.
