ALLTEL SUCKS NOW! I use to have Alltel for about 4 years, had great reception indoors and was my primary phone. Until Verizon merged with them, now I have BAD reception indoors, and my phone drop my calls 2 minutes into the call. I got rid of Alltel or Verizon or whatever they're called now about a few months ago and went to TracFone. TracFone's phone reception indoors is MUCH better than that Alltel phone. MERGERS SUCK!

why did my hometown get rid of the old alltel store, build a verizon store, and then build a new alltel store across the street??? its retarded!

Because FCC regulations required a divestiture of some Alltel assets. Therefore, I have a feeling that little Alltel store across the street is going to be calling themselves something else pretty soon.

@razrv3lc Verizon bought all of alltel and sold parts of alltel that they had (coverage thats doubled up) to att or someone. But whomever bought it wanted that same location area, but when verizon had it, they changed all stores

yea actually im in an area where verizon isnt taking over its just tht alltel is going to be gone but there most likely will be another company tht moves in to take the place of alltel, question when the whole merger deal is complete will verizon take any of the alltel phones into their line up? because my contract with alltel is up in december and im switching to verizon but i really wanted the lg tritan? please answer back?

im in a place where verizon isnt taking over, but we got a letter in the mail that said AT&T would get us. Where do they even come into all of this? I hate AT&T. There isn't any service for it here. I WANT VERIZON AND THEIR PHONES.

Call them up. Or go to their website. See if they cover your area... if they do, and your out of contract, jump ship. You don't have to stay w the new buyers (ATT or whatever) unless your in your contract still.

Well i live in a certain part of minnesota where alltel and verizon are the only two cell phone companies that offer service up here so when verizon bought out alltel they couldnt up here because they wouldve formed a monopoly so alltel is still alive up here, the only difference is that verizon customers can call alltel for free which isnt a bad thing

Actually, in about a month (or more) Alltel won't be alive anymore, anywhere. Alltel is going to be replaced by Verizon everywhere that Alltel is. Sorry! All that will happen is that you'll just start getting a bill from Verizon, not Alltel.

They did buy alltel stores there, it's called a divested market. It means they can't change the branding b/c it would be a monopoly
