I loved this performance, but the bit that made it amazing for me was the look on lees face when he sings 'not much to ask for'. That man is amazing in both singing and acting, and I really really want to see him live!
Both of them are good enough to have lasting careers but this song and video show why Lee had the edge. His masculinity is so fierce. His voice has a deeper, darker edge and stronger support -- he can hold a note longer and with more intensity. His eyes are like lasers -- he's thinking as well as singing. And when he stalks the stage, there's a sense that he knows what he's physically capable of, on the street and in the bedroom. That's what made it impossible to take your eyes off him.
Lee won the whole thing with this number. Lee tried to engage Lewis throughout, Lewis was good but he never connected with Lee, despite Lee's efforts. That is where the experience really showed. Lee was willing to share some spotlight. Lewis, beautiful as he is, came across selfish, the one thing you can never be on a stage..

I'm lucky as my mum got me the tickets as an 18th birthday present, as the shows a week after my birthday will be, although she also teases me about being 'obsessed' on a regular basis. But hey, he is just such a great performer, and so lovely with it :D. I keep watching his performances over and over again, especially this one. I hope you have more luck in finding a way to see the show!
Oh and Lee is much much better here! This was the first time I saw Lewis as being able to have a possible future in musical theatre- however Lee is a far better actor, his voice is 10 times as better and Lewis always seems to have these OTT gestures where he lifts up his arms in a strange way... he'll improve with age and time he just needs more experience
Agree with skelton321- Lee was the only 1 that could have been Joseph- So what if he was a pro ... Lewis was too young, inexperienced, acted way 2 OTT and had very little stage presence IMO. He will get better but atm he couldn't have handled 8 shows a week! Lee had been an understudy 4 ages and wasn't being recognised by producers like BK- this competition was just as good 4 him than any of the others because it has kickstarted his career- he is now a leading man not an understudy!

I know a few Lewis fans and they have all said since that Lee was the right man and that lewis would have cracked with the presuure of 8 shows in the west end each week. That's not fair! It's only mt opinion! I THINK that Lee had an unfair advantage, but let me stress that THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION! How do you know Lewis would have cracked under the pressure? I'm sorry but Lewis was such a charming sweet guy and he is always so nice and friendly to people, he has such a lovely personality. In this performance he really shone, so much that in teh comments afterwards, Andrew Lloyd Webber was a bit lost for words! I will always defend Lewis - because he rocks!
ok fair enough if thats your opinion but Lee didnt have an unfair advantage because there were no rules saying that professionals couldnt join. Also as Lee and the judges said many times, he just happened to be the only professional that made it to the last 12, there were plenty of professionals in previous rounds!!
Alright, calm down! What about Daniel? He was a proffesional as well, Lee wasn't the only one! After seeing and hearing them perform live in front of me, I'll say that they were all extremely good (well, all except for maybe Rob and Seamus?!) Ok, let me just start by saying that I live in the US and didn't follow this series at all.
The fact that he is "always so nice and friendly to people" and that he has a lovely personality make him a good person and perhaps easy to work with, but that doesn't mean that he should win a performance competition. I understand the sentiment, but what it comes down to is who can deliver the goods onstage. (Which, judging by this video, I'd have to go with Lee.)
without so many hand expressions Lewis could have made this a perfect duet and he sings webber very clear. i really like the "she had a style" and when Lee sings "the smoke from the funeral clears" there's a great intensity between them. then again without lee to play against lewis would be nothing! LEE ROCKS and deserved his standing ovations but lewis should have come 2nd (keith was 2 arrogant!)
I always found Lewis very girly so wasn't at all surprised at reports he was seen at the GAY club once he hit 18 - feel sorry for all the little girls that were into him big time tho.I remember my Mum when she found out about Rock Hudson poor thing!!
If i remember correctly i had lots of pre-teens hassling me re Daniel being gay and one in particular who was aggressive in the extreme towards Lee (those my top 2 incidentally)and this remark shut her up instantly cos Lewis was 'it' as far as she was concerned!!I have no probs with gay folk at all some of my friends are.Did you see anything of Daniel?His version of Close Every Door stunning.

Personally, I think that this was the best performance that Lewis put in and definately my fave of the many "group" numbers. They were both fantastic. I was sorry that Lewis went out in third place, he is a talented young guy. Keiths voice grates on me, but the best man definately won!

I love this so much, in my opinion Lewis was brilliant in this, and in my opinion, better than Lee. Lee's great, but Lewis has a far better ability to work with an audience and really act a song when he has his heart in it. I just don't think puts his 'heart' across in his performances nearly as well as Lewis. I love him so much, I have no doubt that he will get into theatre and become a famous star too.
This is fab! Lewis shocked me in this performance by being really good and actually acting it but Lee (as always) was better because he is so good at acting and performing! xx
Yes this was the first time I saw Lewis fit for the theatre. I really enjoyed this duet and I hope Lee and Lewis will do another duet sometime in future. In the end though Lee was definetely the right choice. He is a true musical star.

Not that I think Lee is bad or anything it's just I think that Lewis did a better performance than Lee here and he certainly didn't "reverted back to his pop ways" Lewis should have been with Lee in the final! They should have done more songs like this! Lewis really upped his game here, almost keeping up with Lee until the tempo change when he reverted back to his pop ways sadly. Lee was brilliant, check his face at 00.43!

I loved this duet. Lee and Lewis sounded so great together, a proper performance instead of trying to outdo each other the whole time - wonderful! While I do want Lee to ultimately win, I definitely think Lewis did very very well on this duet and they were both excellent.
On the other hand, Lewis is fantastic, so lively, he's a great dancer, singer, actor and has the best personality EVER; and at least he's beautiful to look at, unlike Lee! Lewis puts the best facial expression and feeling into his singing which makes me smile so...
Lee is professional and has done stuff before so they should give someone else a chance. Lee is WAY TOO cocky to play Joseph and his performances are all the SAME!! He's just annoying!
Lee has done stuff like this, but has never had a leading role like this, which he deserves. I personally hate the idea of putting untrained untalented people in leading roles through tv programmes because it completely dismisses all those people who have worked and trained for years to get the part - why do they deserve the role any less?

my eyes and ears are just drawn to Lee all the time, even in the largest groups, i love his face when he says "Not much to ask for" His broody sexy stage person is so different from the sweet shy guy that appears once the song has finished
Lewis was good in this, but Lee was by fr better at acting che. Especially at 'not much to ask for'- that was some exceptional acting from Lee. If he doesn't get Joseph he should be i Evita.
I think Lee always looks carefully at the lyrics and really understands what he's singing - hence the better acting, he can put the real meaning across. I think the way he interacted with Lewis was amazing.

I always found Lewis very girly so wasn't at all surprised at reports he was seen at the GAY club once he hit 18 - feel sorry for all the little girls that were into him big time tho.I remember my Mum when she found out about Rock Hudson poor thing!!

If i remember correctly i had lots of pre-teens hassling me re Daniel being gay and one in particular who was aggressive in the extreme towards Lee (those my top 2 incidentally)and this remark shut her up instantly cos Lewis was 'it' as far as she was concerned!!I have no probs with gay folk at all some of my friends are.Did you see anything of Daniel?His version of Close Every Door stunning.

Personally, I think that this was the best performance that Lewis put in and definately my fave of the many "group" numbers. They were both fantastic. I was sorry that Lewis went out in third place, he is a talented young guy. Keiths voice grates on me, but the best man definately won!

Lewis over-pronounces his words, and comes in late at one point, but this was his best performance. Lee was great (I love Keith)

I love this so much, in my opinion Lewis was brilliant in this, and in my opinion, better than Lee. Lee's great, but Lewis has a far better ability to work with an audience and really act a song when he has his heart in it. I just don't think puts his 'heart' across in his performances nearly as well as Lewis. I love him so much, I have no doubt that he will get into theatre and become a famous star too.

Yes this was the first time I saw Lewis fit for the theatre. I really enjoyed this duet and I hope Lee and Lewis will do another duet sometime in future. In the end though Lee was definetely the right choice. He is a true musical star.

DuckEggBlu I don't know if you actually know this song but Lewis did a better job at it then Lee did! Lee even went wrong at 02.43. Not that I think Lee is bad or anything it's just I think that Lewis did a better performance than Lee here and he certainly didn't "reverted back to his pop ways" Lewis should have been with Lee in the final! Not Lee and Keith!

They should have done more songs like this! Lewis really upped his game here, almost keeping up with Lee until the tempo change when he reverted back to his pop ways sadly. Lee was brilliant, check his face at 00.43!

I loved this duet. Lee and Lewis sounded so great together, a proper performance instead of trying to outdo each other the whole time - wonderful! While I do want Lee to ultimately win, I definitely think Lewis did very very well on this duet and they were both excellent.

Lee has done stuff like this, but has never had a leading role like this, which he deserves. I personally hate the idea of putting untrained untalented people in leading roles through tv programmes because it completely dismisses all those people who have worked and trained for years to get the part - why do they deserve the role any less?

Lewis was good in this, but Lee was by fr better at acting che. Especially at 'not much to ask for'- that was some exceptional acting from Lee. If he doesn't get Joseph he should be i Evita.

I think Lee always looks carefully at the lyrics and really understands what he's singing - hence the better acting, he can put the real meaning across. I think the way he interacted with Lewis was amazing.
