@Vargas934 Hello there, I'm Keith McLean from Univers Music and John uses a Guild/DeArmond with a Gibson Humberking front pickup and a De Armond Pick-up.
how the heck does he get that bass sound with no detuning or even amplification and just by using his thumb?? Sounds almost like an upright bass to me
John Phil Wayne here is unplugged, so no amplifier and the sound is just being taken from the camera with a mic (which you can see on top right of the screen). The sound comes exclusively from his Guild/De-Armond guitar.
acoustics sounds are being picked up, but im pretty sure it sounds like a amp is also hooked up, especially cause the sound of the bass and reverb....
In 2005 John Phil Wayne himself commented on this video at the BBC TV and said that the mic was the only device though there was a jack connected to the guitar without amp. Sorry mate but the info comes from the master himself.
I work for JP Wayne and he lives in London. However he was in your country in July performing two Jazz Festivals: Sanary & Montauroux. Did you know that? Ok I'll let him have your message. Please write to me and leave an email address in your personal YouTube mailbox.
HI, my name´s John, I own a M75t by Dearmond.I think they are great and beautiful guitars. Im trying to meet people who also own DeArmond guitars, so that I have created a group in FACEBOOK called: DEARMOND GUITAR (owners and fans)...The idea is that you join it and post photos, videos or comments about your guitar....
And you know what Guys??? I have yesterday night seen John Phil Wayne Live as the main top Artist of a Jazz Festival in France where he is now on Tour with British Drummer Adrian White (former Art Farmer, John Mclaughlin). Well that was absolutely unbelievable. The Best thing I've ever seen in my life. This was filmed and I will try to get a copy for you on Youtube.
I just watched all this guys videos. Wow! He's inspiring me to try to learn to play like that. Amazing technique he has. I like that he looks like he's having a blast too, guitar playing is supposed to be fun. A lot of guitar players look like they're in agony :-) this guy is having fun. Great stuff!
Hi, I am Keith McLean (guitarkeith) and I wish to thank everybody who appreciates this great jazz Guitar player who is John Phil Wayne. You'll soon in December find his old and new albums on Amazon and Itunes.
it's interesting to watch-not sure whether i really like it myself-it seems very tricksy to me-but i think the way he was playing chords and bass slowly together was great-really letting the chords sustain
This is the most original thing i have seen in ages!.Not only was doing bass, lead and rhythm at one time BUT he still holds his pick in his pinky!.I have played for 16yrs and i am not easily impressed but this is brilliant!.Great stuff!
First, Hello from France.
I wanted to know about the guitar: is it a Guild or a De Armond?
Thanks for your answer.
