John Phil Wayne here is unplugged, so no amplifier and the sound is just being taken from the camera with a mic (which you can see on top right of the screen). The sound comes exclusively from his Guild/De-Armond guitar.

acoustics sounds are being picked up, but im pretty sure it sounds like a amp is also hooked up, especially cause the sound of the bass and reverb....

In 2005 John Phil Wayne himself commented on this video at the BBC TV and said that the mic was the only device though there was a jack connected to the guitar without amp. Sorry mate but the info comes from the master himself.

I have yesterday night seen John Phil Wayne Live as the main top Artist of a Jazz Festival in France where he is now on Tour with British Drummer Adrian White (former Art Farmer, John Mclaughlin). Well that was absolutely unbelievable. The Best thing I've ever seen in my life. This was filmed and I will try to get a copy for you on Youtube.

I just watched all this guys videos. Wow! He's inspiring me to try to learn to play like that. Amazing technique he has.
