So if sound is one of your main purposes don't get this one...i got rid of this camcorder a long time ago and went with the Kodak Zi8 and its much better video and audio wise and has the option to connect an external mic.
Very nice video! I have this unit along with the NS-DV1080p, and although I prefer the 1080p, this is still a VERY nice camcorder. Especially for the price.
@ttwins961 Please read the comments below...If you are receiving black screen when u play it back on the Computer, but you get SOUND..you have to download avi. codec...just search under google..and you should download..restart your computer..and should work

IT does have image Stabilization but only on SD mode. I couldnt tell you if its better..all i can say that the image color is more accurate..but thats all i know of.

I never had an audio problem..i have heard of Video problem, in where the theres Audio but no Video but thats only because they never downloaded the avi. codec for Windows Media Player in order for it to work properly.
I just use windows movie maker...again you must download the avi. codec in order for it to ork...mine works flawlessly. There are some very good video editing software but will cost $50 or more. Again for basic editing use Windows Movie Maker.
thanks. also do you know anything about the insignia NS-DCC5HB09 camera because that one looks newer but from what i saw it didnt look like the quality was as good on it compared to the ns dv720p camera. so if you know anything about both devices plz let me know.
The Insignia ND-DV720P replaces the Insignia NS-DCC5HB09 (Discontinued Model). The older one you are refering to has a different lense compared to the new one, hence the colors arent as good as the new one.

yea the one i used in my video is the latest one, and def. better than the old one. ONly thing that i didnt like is that in HD mode its only 30fps meaning that when recording fast moving objects when you play back on computer your going to see some lag in it. But this isnt a problem in SD mode.
In SD mode its is..but in HD mode its ok...like if something is moving at over 30mph then you get a lag in video...theres a video on utube...so u can see it.....as long as u dont open it ucan return it for full refund...if u open it theres a 15% restocking fee.
are you sure this camera isnt better than the ns dcc5hb09 because im starting to have second thaughts about it. also does this camera have image stabilization?

Two of our videos were also filmed using this camcorder; NS-DV720P
I had to reduce the clips filmed to 480p for editing purposes.
