Good video and nice first aid kit! Just to let you and your viewers know, in my area of Texas, Walmart has started carrying a lot of medical supplies for 88 cents each!!! Everything from cold medicines to joint wraps and pain medicines. They are a great deal for anyone needing to get more items in their firstaid kit. I stocked up on them! Have a good one!! :)
FUBAR-- A must have book is "Where There is no Doctor" and "Where There is no Dentist"
Look at getting some Asherman chest seals or similar brancd and know how to use them. They are for sucking chest wounds/gunshot wounds to the chest. Quik clot is not to be used on the torso just the limbs.
Get some tourniqets and know how to use them.
Take a 1st responder and EMT-Basic course at your local college. They are both only one semester each and will give you great insight.
Great idea on the antibiotics. How long will you keep them past their expiration dates? 5 years? 10 years? Longer? It's a pretty substantial investment to keep "refreshing" every few years.
just a heads up guys if you do have a medical bag like this never mark it with a red cross that means kill me first in that type of situation people will take it first
Great video. I have very similar supplies myself. I can really recommend the book "Ditch Medicine" by Hugh L Coffee. It covers suturing, airways, IV lines, chest decompressions, pain relief. Buy the book or go to Scribd.com. Tramadol is easy to get pain killer.

You have some good stuff here. I'll put up a video of mine in the next few weeks. However, I really commend you on the antibiotics. That is probably going to save your or someone you knows life when the SHTF. With Antibiotics, I'll give advice to make sure you replace them ON THE DATE. Do not keep them past expiration. I didn't think about vet antibiotics, but I'm glad you brought that idea up! Everything here is USEFUL! No waste at all! Awesome bag!
Good vid. I bought the exact same antibiotics last year. I was in pre-pharmacy and worked as a pharmacy tech for a while when I was younger. Just fyi...We would put the expiration on the bottles of antibiotics for 6-12 months out. The large bottle we dispensed out of usually had the expiration over 5 years into the future. Those antibiotics will probably be good for a long time past 2012.
Love your video. With the medicine it looks like there is a self life. What do you do once they get to the end of their expiration date? How do you dispose of them and when do you just re-buy them?I just don't know much about medicine and their expiration dates.
I love your videos. As an EMT with 10 years of street time I noticed a few things you're missing. You need a B.V.M. (bag valve mask) and some oral airways. And some way of suctioning the airway. Also some bulky trama dressings. Those things have many diffrent uses. Also a roll of duct tape in your kit wouldn't hurt either. Keep up the great work.
That SSD cream works AMAZINGLY, I burnt the tops of my hands and my left foot in a grease fire and had to use it for a couple months and man does it feel good applying that to your burns, but you have to wash it off and change it every 24 hours or else it starts to harden up and turn silver. Also I wouldn't be talking about illegal lidocaine on any public forum.
You are quite welcome. I started today working on my first Youtube video. Upon review it stunk real bad, so I trashed it and am going to try again tomorrow. Any pointers? It's on a bushcraft knife.
@edgybob1 I am no expert on making videos by any means. I pretty much stumble through mine. lol! I think I am a little camera shy even if I am not in the frame. I try to give as much imformation on what I am doing the video on and the picture quality means alot. It surprises me that people even watch mine sometimes.
Tea tree oil, found in most drugstores, is excellent for burns. It takes the pain away in just a few minutes and doesn't leave a scar in most instances. There are other uses, but this one is the one I most personally familiar with. Great stuff and not very expensive.
I had heard of using fish antibiotics for SHTF, but I didn't realize they came in doses that were usually prescribed to humans. Definitely going to pick some up.
I wrote to PatriotNurse here on YT. She said that those vet antibiotics were good but, yeah - do your own research, as some animal grade products are not safe.
The active components in human and veterinary drugs are identical, save that they are usually made in seperate batches. (Both are held to VERY high standards) High end human drugs may have additional components to make them easier to swallow (film coating) or prevent throat damage or stomach aces.
It's probably best not to swallow vet pills whole, but crush them up in a mortar and pestle (screwdriver and shot glass) and flush 'em down with a glass of water.
In an absolute emergency and only for a surface burn, you can use toothpaste on it. It will stop the burning. I just did my video on my first aid supplies today. Where did you get the scapulae?
The discovery channel had a show on called "Out of the Wild" where one guy had to leave the show because of hemroids brought on by all the walking, stress and change of diet. He later needed surgery. I have not done it yet but I WILL be adding some to both of my cars bug out bags.
@MrB0TT What I meant to say is I will be adding Preperation H to by bags. Man, it's so embarrassing I must have had a mental block to even type it. lol
Very nice. I am constantly updating and changing a little shtf backpack for my vehicle. It's no where near what you have but I just try to keep enough to keep me alive and protected for a week if need be. You are very smart for doing this, you may never use any of it...but that's a good thing!
Something to think about is worms. When I was overseas with several different companies, no matter how hard I tried, I ended up with Giardi. required massive dose of antibiotic to kill. I did notice that your vet supply had several types of probiotic to help the stomach create bacteria. the chlorine in the USA water supply, kills our natural bacteria. having this on hand would help in case of SHTF. Also yogurt is great to help build up as well.
Good video. Get trained and certified in basic first aid and CPR, then practice that skill like you would any skill (target practice, canning, dried food storage, etc), on a regular basis.
