I swear they were nervous during this show because they played every just like the album version and didn't mess around with them like they normally do during their live shows.
@slannmage I'm sorry. Did you see Matt Bellamy swing his guitar around by the strap and it flying metres into the air and he just left it? If that's not messing around, I don't know what is
@slannmage not for the 2nd half with the greatest hits (sweet child of mine during hysteria...?). Maybe most of the oos half of the show was true to the sound on the album because most of those songs havent been played in years. It's not like they play those songs at every show anymore so they arent comfortable changing it up as much. They still kicked ass harder than any other band who played at the festival
I'm a massive Muse fan but their performance left me a little bit disappointed at Reading, it just didn't have the charisma that I usually see from them.
I've never listened to or seen The Streets before but they blew me away and were my fave band at Reading.
@slannmage okay fair enough. They aren't as young as they used to be for sure. But the scale of their shows is like nothing I've ever seen and the quality of their playing is still superb.
hope this show will be releashed someday in dvd or something... if you pay attention near the drums (and in other places of the stage) there are those 360 cameras that they also used in wembley!!
@xjimdim Hell yeah!!! I'm still waiting for HAARP and Seaside Rendezvous to be released on dvd!! The songs are the same but the staging changes everything!!
I want to hear songs like Microcuts, Dark Shines, etc! There are only songs which band played ever gig, but why? I dont hear anything about new DVD. So, give us rare Muse songs on YouTube! Sorry for my English, I'm from Ukraine)
@Kihlberg90 I know what you mean! When i was there, i first they hoped they might open with it, then do origin but i was wrong. but when thet did this in the middle of the set made me hope that they might do this as the heave second to last song :/ wrong again :'( i live in hope that it will get another play...
this was one of the most AMAZING performances since the begining of time! ive liked favorite and posted on fb but i still dont believe ive given it the recognition it deserves
At Leeds festival, they had 15 flamethrowers. At Reading, they used 10 and they were of a shorter length, as the ones in Leeds melted the front and top of the stage. I was at the barrier in Reading and they were fucking hot. I must imagine the people on the barrier at Leeds would of melted.
Thank god he's not using the glitterati for this one. I always thought it sucked the sharpness out of the riff. Delorean replica ftw. You can actually hear the guitar growl again. Savage.
Guitar smashing has become part Bellamy's onstage persona. Personally, I wish he would smash them more often like the Showbiz and Hullabaloo days, although the windmill throw was pretty impressive.
Guitar smashing has become part Bellamy's onstage persona. Personally, I wish he would smash them more often like the Showbiz and Hullabaloo days, although the windmill throw was pretty impressive.
I LOVE the fact Matt played a bit of the opening riff from a Deftones song, 'My Own Summer' after Dom asked the crowd how they liked the Deftones playing! How awesome! I love them both!! And a fitting song for a summer festival!
Wow. This is the heavy raw Muse we used to get back in the Showbiz days, when they just didn't give a fuck and went mental. This was the best I've seen Muse in a while, and that bass/drum jam at the end... fuck that was amazing.
@LewiSaunders Yeah man i know, was so amazing. Oh and if you didn't know that jam at the end is known as the "Helsinki Jam" they've been playing it on their recent tour.
Chris' backing vocals in this are amazing. There needs to be a song in the next album where he sings the main vocals... give Matt some time to play like, piano and guitar at the same time.
Best Stockholm Syndrome in a long time, possibly the greatest. And why does it have to be the Delorean which gets killed? Why??? I could have had that guitar! D:
@museobsessed17 matt doesnt use the delorean anymore(unfortulately ) it's "retired" the guitar he using is the ali top which looks the same but it doesnt have the fuzz factory built in like the delorean and doesnt have the two knobs at the end...anyway if it was the delorean matt would never kill it. its his signature guitar
@mcrochev94 Was about to say just that, MAtt said that if he could keep just one, the DeLorean would be it. It was the first custom guitar he had built. That wasn't the DeLorean he smashed.
@mcrochev94 Actually that doesn't quite look like the Ali Top...the pickups on this guitar is different and the Ali Top has a tremolo bar. It's actually a lot closer to the DeLorean i.e. the black p90 pickups, the more rusted, industrial look. I think Matt's using the DL-1 guitar line.
This rivals SS at glastonbury and pinkpop 2004 and I never thought I would say that in a million years. And Helsinki Jam with a giant hole through the bass drum...classy ;)
@BeautifulTragedyx21 this is magic! but t in the park 2004 takes a bit of beating was there blew me away shivers and all that. check it out worth a look. stockholm syndrome and plug in baby amazing! WATCH IT!
@bobek3x No. This is a top grade performance of this song, and I say this as someone who watches/listens to live shows from the Absolution era all the time.
@rocket83cs Yeah, but are the emotions? Where is the rawness? It maybe performed much more professionally but that's it. You know, it's not all about perfection. In my opinion, the shows form 2004 were much more sincere, pure and awesome. But think whatever you like :)
They seemed very nervous during Reading and not allowing their older songs being shown on TV proved this as they care about the quality of their music. So i really doubt the love for what they do has gone or they wouldn't have cared. I just think the sound has gotten so much better as they become better musicians and that is what you're confusing as being cold. Plus don't forget they are in their 30s and don't have as much energy as their mid 20s.
