I think what he was trying to show was that in the first, Mariah's whistle was removed.....I always thought the hit the same note, but when I heard the high quality, it was evident that the whistle was removed in editing....I think they should have left it.....I loved it. It wasn't a comparison!

Patti was using her natural chest voice while Mariah used her whistle register. They blended so nicely. But technically, Patti's natural chest voice was more noticeable. Check out the HQ version. You'll hear Mariah's whistle register.

Mariah's whistle was weak on this occassion or you wouldn't have to listen closely for it. Her whistle register was very clear in her duet with Whitney Houston but you can barely hear it in her Patti duet.

I kinda ask myself: do people love or like these singers for all the "screaming" they do ... or do they really have any musical care to appreciate people's talent? According to the inumerus videos on you tube comparing notes between divas and singers seriously? 5 year old kids have much more fun living life in a more naive way ... this is for me the most missrespectful way to actually state one is a fan or loves music. @Fabian81 well, it's up to the individual's musical knowledge. haters or people with no musical knowledge will tell MC as screeching, her voice being all over the place, and she's only good at whistling. but people who do have 'it' can appreciate the nuances and vagueness of her complex vocal styling, her musicianship and her impeccable vocal control. A typical Pinoy would like regine velasquez' misplaced B5 and think it's enough to top over other divas

The frequency of the whistle register is very high.

Well of course you wouldn't be able to hear Mariah's whistle. A belted note is of course louder than a whistle note so it's not surprising. If it was anyone other than Patti however it might have been different. Patti is freaking powerful! XD I love them both! <3
