  • Bringin back great memories from the 80s. LONG LIVE THE 80S!!!

  • Saw Gary Myrick to a two set free show at Knotts Berry Farm.

    Great show, lousy venue.

  • I saw GM in 83 . Stevie Ray Vaughan opened

  • One of my favs of GM & figs, awesome song..!!!! Luv it!

  • This was on the Vally Girl soundtrack

  • @jamiecapecod : I thought it was "She Talks in Stereo" that was on Valley Girl...

  • I can still see a girl named Dorie dancing like a fiend to this one! That girl could MOVE!!!

  • Gary Myrick & The Figures are reuniting to play The Roxy in LA, CA on June 22nd, 2010. Original members Gary Myrick, David Dennard and Jack White will appear along with new keyboard player Gina Myrick. They will perform songs from the first three CBS/Epic Records releases.

  • Isn't this a remix of a old song "Guitar Talk" by the Aquarians ? I couldn't find the song for like, 25 years. the original had echo and siren like effects on the guitar. The song came out in the early 1970's NOT the 1980's. Where can i get a copy of the original?

  • I heard a song way back in the early 70's called Guitar Talk by Aquarians in South Calif and for the last 3 years i couldn't find it on the internet and thought the song was not available. Could this be the song i haven't heard for the last 25 years? How could this song came out in the 1980's? I heard it back in the EARLY 1970's and the guitar riffs were different. The guitarists used echo and made a siren effect. Gary is doing a re-mix. Where can i get the original recording from 1970's??

  • Man, this was SUCH a good song, and frankly if not for fate, Gary would have taken a much bigger position in the pantheon of 80's artists than he did. This video premiered exactly 1 week before another video that simply stole all the video and radio play it should have gotten. The other song was simply every place at once, it played on MTV almost around the clock, you couldn't turn to a non-pop station and not hear it. The song? Thriller by MJ. Ah, fate, you are a cruel mistress.

  • One of the great, forgotten tunes from MTV's early days

  • Great song from the early 80s. In response to a few comments below about when MTV launched, MTV launched in 1981. Also, Kathy Valentine of the Go-Go's covered this song on her solo album a few years ago.

  • LOL firehehe... Long live MV3

Where I saw all the good music before

MTV went "T00PID" and stopped showing

    "MUSIC" on "TELEVISION" via "VIDEO"

    *shrugs* go figure....

  • Hey I used to watch MV3 when I was a kid back in '83!!!! We didn't even have "cable" in my home so MV3 was a "poor man's" MTV!!! Lol!!! This song right here "rocked my world" and it got played often on MV3... Yep! sometimes fucking You Tube delivers the "goods"... sometimes...

  • @petermurphreak I was an MV3 watcher, too!

  • Thanks so much for sharing this-been looking for it for years...LOVE this man!

  • Good luck finding this one Rapid.I looked around forever until I finally lucked out and found a 12" DJ single on E-bay.That as a real find as it not only has this version but also a 9 minute extended version which really grinds and kicks azz.

  • Someone tell me where I can d/l this tune please! I've been looking for it for years, any help would be appreciated...

  • You can buy them directly from Gary Myrick, just do a search.

  • Saw him open for Rory Gallagher at the Strardust Ballroom on Hollywood Blvd. Long ass time ago. He was new-wave, got booed off the stage, not because he was bad, but because they came to see Rory (rip)

  • Saw Gary at the Bijou in Dallas in 1979. Remember it ti this day. Incredible.

  • Saw Gary at Knott's Berry Farm of all places doing a two set show in front of bunch of screaming girls. It must have been like what the Beatles had gone through because you could hardly hear the band over the shouts.

  • Great song! His last big hit to my memory. I like the song because it's tough and direct but that third verse is wicked cool. He always knew how to add in an ingenious little flair to his songs.

  • was this guy's biggest fan - still love all of his stuff and listen to it regularly. saw him in the mid 90's in San Francisco and he was brilliant but looked strung out.

  • Sat down with him at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach California and remember our conversation to this day - he was telling me about this crazy TV station in New York that was launching all music videos - MTV must have been in 1984

  • MTV I believe aired in 82

  • Hmm... MTV launched in 1979 or 80 as I recall, so it must have been earlier. By 84, MTV was already huge.

And the Golden Bear... heh. I remember when they tore it down and left a pile of bricks in its place. PCH looks very different today from when I was a kid.

  • Saw Gary and his boys at least a dozen times - he was a guitar slinging genius that was an og Fender I believe a 59

  • back in the 80's this guy kicked ass

  • took the cleveland to LA many times just to see the figures @ the whiskey.

  • Texas guitar slinger! He kicked ass live!!!

  • Originally from Dallas, no?

  • We grew up on Myrick, every weekend a different club, man ,he had to be seen live to be truly appreciated as a guitar player, the most creative H-Wood had to offer, he shoulda been a contender. Myrick will always be in my top 5, all-time, yes, all-time!

  • For those of you West Coast New Wavers, this should be a serious MV3 moment for you. For those of you New Wavers from the East Coast . . . can't help ya.

  • ROFL...I remember MV3
