There is some truth in that. Catholic people were in the past often forced by the church to get children in order to win new people for the church. Or course, not in this scale I think, though Monty Python has a point with this song.

Yeah, my grandparents suffered from that. My granddad had to kick the priest out of his home so hard that he print of his foot was still in his ass. Plus history books back that up. Not that there were any "penalties" for not having children, but just a priest visiting you to have strong words was proper motivation in those days. And miscarriage was no excuse (as my grandma experienced as she had two in a row). My claim is not outrageous. Your denial of it rather is...
