It is so funny that almost every fantasy author uses words and creatures from old norse language and mythology ( Dwarves, Elves, Brisinger, Beardy axmen :) ) I am from Sweden and do study our ancestry including language and history. It is funny but i do think that, for example, greece mythology is just as nice as norse, but everyone uses norse haha!

I personally hated the book, Brisinger, mainly because of how heavily the story centered on Rowan, and his oh so dramatic battles with the Empire, man, how many chapters of drama does Rowan need? At least in Eldest, Eragon had plenty of chapters, while leaving plenty for Rowan to progress his side story.

However, once it finally got the Dwarves, and there culture, did I finally enjoy the rest of Brisinger, before that, I was struggling to finish this novel.

The books are fun to read, I personally am a fan, and it's a series that is very easily loved. It's not the best thing ever written. It's not the worst thing ever written. God, I hate this series...

The writing is awful. Full of purple prose, parades of adverbs, and horrible characterization. The plot is overly-simple, the kid's addicted to his thesaurus, and there isn't an original idea in all 1800 pages of it.

On top of that, Paolini is kind of arrogant. I mean, comparing himself to Tolkien... he's convinced himself he's the cat's pajamas, when he's really nothing more than a theif who's too conceited to recognize his own crime.

Brisingr wasn't up to my expectations at all! iw as expecting so much better. The beginning is so long and it just drags on and the ending is way to rushed for me. Most of the book was predicatable. I hope the fourth one is really good. i personally think Brisingr was worse than eragon and eldest. I like the other two so much better :[

I even got the idea from a previous book I finished from him, and though I may not publish it it was a book inspired from Chris. His writing skills amaze me, and I am so inspired by the wonderful books he's written and cannot wait to get my hands on Brisinger

Hmm......lets see. If I were to give you advice on writing a fantasy book it'd probably be this. Try to think of something that hasn't been done yet. Like um....hmm idk but when I try to think of a story, I mostly try to think of a situation that is either new or hasn't been used much. Like here's and example, say the story of like an alien invasion. In my opinion those types of story are often overused. If I had any other advice I would say use your thesaurus often. ^^
