  • Hi Coach. I'm 42, but still play 2-3 times weekly with guys 1/2 my age and many of them are just out of college or HS and have played competitive. I can tell you that my shooting has NEVER been more consistent. I hit 27 threes in a row a few weeks ago between games and regularly shoot 65-70% from outside over the course of series of full speed pick up games. I want to go after the record for most college threes in under one minute. Any advice? What exercises do you suggest for shooters?

  • hey coach, i just purchased one of youre dvds. cant wait. quick question, my son is 10. at what age should i start correcting his shooting form? what should i be looking for right now in his shot? thanks coach.

  • @teevizzle Be positive. Make it fun without pressure. Keep instruction brief He may lose interest if your coaching is too long or detailed. He will not be progressing while you are talking. Get him shooting. Be careful not to over coach. Strive to keep your son’s confidence level high. Catch him doing it right. Start close to the basket with strong and weak hand lead-up drills. Use the down and up action of legs for rhythm and follow-through for confidence. View other drills on my websites.

  • ermm coach in the follow through which fingers do i roll?

  • @PiratesOnTheJetPlane Release the ball off the pads of your index finger for backspin. • hey. uh coach. i don't play very often coz i'm not really in a team and education is very time consuming in singapore so i don't have much time. well. i guess i can shoot alright. just that the problem is i'm 160cm and usually i play with people taller than me. and we usually use half the court. so sometimes when i'm about to shoot they're right in front of me and i can't shoot cause they'll hit it away =\ so i'll have to pass. any tips on this?

  • I need to see you shoot before I can help you. I recommend that you purchase my DVD Basketball Shooting: Make Your Shot Automatic which demonstrates 15 shooting errors and correctionsand lead-up drills You can become a FREE member or INSIDER of my CoachWissel website which features basketball instructional video clips including shooting. • @nszucs1 you lucky dog, you got a response from a legend...

  • Uh-Uh

    Bless

  • this is giving me so much confident knowing that the basket could hold 3 basketballs.

    thanks!

  • same where but my is unorthodox so sometimes its really on or really off, trying to fix it...

  • im one of the best shooters on my team but somethimes my shots are way off..... what happen??

  • @kingkevinkiwi Well i think its because maybe you dont keep your arm up AS you shoot i used to have a Huge problem with that

  • @kingkevinkiwi there's no way for anyone to tell you what you're doing wrong without seeing what you do. I suggest get in the gym and really pay attention to your body when you practice shooting. When you start to get hot and everything's falling in, what does it feel like? When you can't buy one what does that feel like? (Balance? Hands? Release? Rhythm?) Replicate what you do when you're making shots and build muscle memory in that. Then you'll know when you're there and when you're not.
