I wonder if Eyedea read this somewhere, or if he personally knew this little girl or knew of her, like was she from his hometown? or did he read this somewhere? get it off of the news? cause it seems like he knew her life a too well. I don't know. What do you think?
@BrunetteBabe1005 I think a likely possibility is maybe this song is a created work of fiction thats supposed to be similar to some real life stories, Like he heard a news story and wondered what happened, it gave him inspiration so he wrote a song about it.
@BrunetteBabe1005 I think about it being about him, like he was a prodigy, people called him a genius, played music to escape, couldn't make anything but sad songs (to an extent, by the throat i feel could be seen that way), "behind every brilliant mind there lies a monster", Her/Eyedea's bottled messages were his songs, 2002 maybe his meaningful songs never 'floated' or people didn't see his sorrow in them, but, you know, thats, just like, my opinion, man
@LegendarySpartan117 That was very insightful. I think your right, you seem to really know alot about Eyedea, and I admire that. It's cool to see dedicated fans like you still trying to keep his music, and memory alive. Like I said how the way you analyzed the song, seems like you hit the nail right on the head. Thanks.
The world isnt fair...and this song is just 1 example out of millions. Knowing this is happening to sombody right now is disturbing. i wish i could help them.
@metalcabana hahaha, seriously, ive been looking everywhere. I love the lyrics and the song, but love this instrumental as well and would like to have both.
I've hated, despised rap until some of my friends introduced me to eyedea, slug, atmosphere and those guys, opened me up to this own little small pocket of underground rap that I actually could tolerate, now I'm starting to like it, how down to earth it is, first time I've ever actually paid attention to lyrics and how mainstream bullshit rap gives this stuff a bad name. Sorry if you like that kind of stuff (wiz, lil wayne, 50 cent) but, what I'm getting at...
@xXxDANMANxXx most people refer to it as "indie rap." just to try and get this music out of the same category as the mainstream drug dealin bitch slappin rap. check out sage francis, brother ali, eligh, and adeem if you already haven't
wow this song is pure poetry, the way eyedea tells a story in his songs is amazing, this song is crazy emotional, i hope that he gets the recognition he deserves as one of the best artists within the genre as he rightfully should, RIP Michael Larsen there arent enough words to describe your genius
i've attempted suicide twice in my life, first was after i walked out on my first girlfriend in high school cuz i couldn't take the stress. her story was pretty much the same one in this song, and after i left, she got pregnant, commited suicide. second time was after the first time i heard this song. now eyedea is gone. there won't be a third. rip eyedea
@70877 nobody listens to the words anymore thats why I bet you those 3 ppl would take it back if they heard the lyrics and actually listened to the story

@seriousbusiness47 seriously? eyedea is one of the best mc out there and you have the nerve to talk about his music, his way of art....fucked up....( Rip, a great lyricist)
@seriousbusiness47 show some respect, this inspirational philosophical artist dies oct 17th of this year. if you dont like his music dont listen to it, you dont have to disrespect his art.

This song is beautiful. Got the chills when I first heard this song back in the day. 8 years later still get the chills every time, and even more now since I heard the sad news. I'm so sad he had to leave early. RIP.
People fail to realize how COMPLETE of a musician Eyedea was...He didn't just write this song and narrate it wonderfully, he also did the beat if I'm not mistaken, as well as all the others on the Oliver Hart album...This album was the soundtrack to my high school years and Im glad I got to tell him that in person. RIP to one of the greatest...
@deepaksambhara It should also be pointed out that he would have been around 20 years old when he did all of this...I dont know what everybody else did when they were 20....but if I could come close to doing anything as ambitious and well-executed as The Many Faces of Oliver Hart, or any sort of non-musical equivalent, I would have a lot less regrets.....We're all better people for having heard the music and seen the battles
Ohh god I can't believe he died so young... such a great and influental rapper, always tried new things and styles, hence why his latest album was so different...
Rest in peace to Eyedea, its a shame i never heard about him until his passing. This is a deep song, he sent a deep message that many people can relate to. Im trying to listen to more of his songs, any recommendations?
Eyedea was a very important part of the late 90s/early 2000s new school era. He was able to combine philosophical introspection and thought provoking concepts with ill rhyme schemes and a dope cadence. He could also freestyle better than most.........'First Born' and 'Oliver Hart' were classics, thanks for writing them Mike.

eyedea has more brain, meaningand heart then ne million doller rapper..he should be rich..use ur brain..fuck fame..90 perccent of theworld is dumb unforunatly
Love this song but I feel the website you got the lyrics from made two mistakes. I think "Strange vibrations" is actually "String vibrations" since she's talking through the violin so to speak. Also "rolly tongue" I think is "her only tongue." I could be wrong though. Anyway, great post.
wow like first time i flipped to this song and i saw it was about a ten year old girl i just went on to the next song but now that i actually got into eyedea & realized how deep his shit is i came back to get the complete meaning and this shit is deep...my favorite thing about mcs, rappers, hip-hop artists like this is how they can tell a story and flow the whole thing lmao
I feel like the beat has a feeling of being underwater, to me it kindof has that bubble underwater sound. Seeing as how she drowns herself, i thought it made sense, but thats the beauty of music. You never know. Amazing song though. Much love.

Much love.

its not a happy beat maybe it was designed to seem as a symbol of hope for the little girl
this is one of my favorite songs

The beat is almost too happy for the lyrics. Not a complaint, just an observation.
