  • Are these long boom camera mounts easy to get hold of; along with neodymium magnets and are they expensive?, cannot believe how stable the are!.

  • @gliderman4rjp I designed and built the magnetic boom. It's extremely light weight but stiff because i also reinforced it w/ external Spectra bracing. Many pilot have copied my basic design using the materials they have available to each of them. Have you seen my video that shows the boom?

  • I have watched this and others a few times now, "they r great!" well done, keeo them coming. what camera type were you using? and was it conected to your leading edge cross tube secction?.

  • @gliderman4rjp Thanks. The camera was mounted on a long boom that was attached to the lower surface by a series of neodymium magnets.

  • beautiful!!! and... great idea with the neodymmagnets;) cheers, Leander

  • @leandermodersohn Thanks Leander!

  • Loved the video. that looks like a cool place to fly. I think I need to fly there when I come over one.

    lisa

  • @Buddha2707 Thanks Lisa. I need to get back to Torrey myself.

  • what I love about Hang gliding, its peaceful, its quiet, its birdlike.

What I don't like is that you are stuck going around in circles unless you catch a thermal, You can't fly cross country at low altitudes.

  • @kokalti Then it's more like dancing than sailing. It's all good.

  • 0:36 OMG who lives in this mansion!!!?

  • @cbrstunter24 Dude! That's our mansion. Did I forget to give you your copy of the key? My bad! :-D

  • Nice video! I like the landing exactly over the star. It shows your perfect control over the wing. Is it possible to dive up to the sand and than come back?

  • I thoroughly enjoyed this. Almost feels like I'm there. Maybe this coming season. :)

Peter Murphy - good choice for mood music.

  • @jtsquid Thanks Peter. Torrey can be a lot of fun and makes a nice break from all mountain thermal flying. I hope I get a couple of good days there this year myself.

  • @NMERider Haha! I'm ACP JT. ... Peter Murphy was the founder of Bauhaus. Good choice for mood music. :)

  • @jtsquid LOLOL - I'm half brain dead. ;-) I saw Bauhaus live at a small club in Chicago a long, long time ago. I got to watch the whole show about 5 feet from the band. The lead singer's facial expressions during Bella Lugosi's Dead were great. I didn't understand the blowtorch burn on his chest however. That looked like some serious self-inflicted pain. :-O

  • Inspirational, sensational! I loved the bird formation at 11:38 ...

  • @pdutube Thanks! Glad you also enjoyed those gorgeous ravens. I wish I could have zoomed in w/ the camera.

  • @miraclepieco LOLOL!

  • @NMERider this is a great video. are you a hang glider pilot? I want to become one.

  • Unreal!!! Thanks for putting this one up (\0

  • @my2cents0 My pleasure!

  • Hey, nice video Jonathan! I really enjoyed that light at sundown!

But are there thermals too or is it just soaring?

Have you ever thought of mounting your cam to your helmet? I think that would be produce great videos too!

  • @83Bach Thanks! There are thermals and at one point I joined a flock of gulls out over the ocean in a column. I have a bunch of videos w/ camera mounted on chin guard. "69 Miles of Hang Gliding Exhilaration".

  • @NMERider Oh sorry! I hadn´t seen these videos yet. But "69 Miles of Hang Gliding Exhilaration" is really great, i love it!

  • @83Bach The chin mounted camera works pretty good doesn't it?

  • @NMERider It really does!

  • nice loops ! were you going for full loops or wing overs? You are ripping it up as always & soooo fun to watch !

    thanks Buddy !

  • @flytocloudbase Hi Seth - Glad you enoyed the ride. I was only doing 90-130 degree wangs. More than enough fun for me.

  • Oh yeah! Now I'm ready for some airtime. I like how the tight turns seemed to pivot on a point on the beach.

  • @altairtime I hope you get sum!

  • A great video.

    What camera are you using?

How do you have it mounted in that position?

What is the music - very cool music that suits the video very well?

    Well Done

    Ed

  • @Edflyspy Thank you. I use a GoPro HD that's attached to the top of a long and lightweight boom. The boom is attached to the sail using an array of 3/4" x 1/8" neodymium magnet discs. I will eventually publish a video showing how this simple system works and is attached. The first and last songs are by Robert Fripp, from: Kan-Non Power. The middle song is The Dog's A Vapour by Bauhaus.

  • @NMERider Another brilliant video Jonathan, I've just upgraded to a Panasonic SD600 1080p camera and really curious about your set up, I'm trying to do something similar, so will watch this space.

    Music is great too.

    Thanks, Andy

  • @scottglider Thanks! Nice camera, Could use a wide angle adapter. See my magnetic camera boom video for details on my setup. Cheerio - Jonathan

  • Nice flight Jonathan, fantastic video, healthy envy !!

  • Excellent video!

  • @flyhghgy Thanks. Share it w/ your friends. I did a shorter and faster edit w/ a higher energy soundtrack that is uploading right now. Stay tuned!

  • @flyhghgy Thanks!
