  • can someone explain granitas? i dont get it....

  • Didn't I see the Helmet of Justice in Skyrim a lot lately?

  • Great to see Spoony back. The Internet wasn't as much fun or as likeable without him for some of 2011.

  • Awesome

  • This is a funny review, nice job

  • "Nine goddesses, there were in Greece - of music, art, and rhyming piece! Now, tell me quick and answer true: what name called they, this magic crew?"

Hard? Are you fucking serious? Either Noah never saw Disney's Hercules (it educates us of the Muses in the first ten seconds, and they hold a consistent role throughout the movie), or he looks a shitload older than he actually is. C'MON, Spoony! Hercules burnt that useless factoid into my fucking brain, and YOU don't remember from your teens?!

  • @RyleyAshford This show aired before Disney's Hercules.

  • @RyleyAshford Hercules came out in '97 and probably didn't come out on VHS until '98. Knightmare ran from the late 80s to the mid-90s at the very latest.

  • This show aired on ITV/STV, not BBC. It was amazingly awesome though! :)

  • 3:11 looks like kid cudi with a perm

  • I thought Smeagol was the name of a dragon or orc or something....wow.

  • OMG... Its duncan from dragon age origins.

  • oooooooooooo NASTYYY :P

  • Dear God that clip from Final Destination 2 is fucking disturbing. I mean, the guy got crushed into pieces by a window panel!!

  • @UltimateAnimeGamer that was pretty funny

  • A bit of trivia for everyone. The Dungeon Master was played by Hugo Myatt and he also voice acted the role of The Guild Master in the original PC/Xbox fantasy-rpg game Fable.

  • Aha more childhood memories, the advert for Bruces price is right XD

    7:52

  • Oh god I actually remember watching this. Now I wish I could forget it again....CURSE THEE!!!!

  • I love you for this. I really, really do. I mean, I loved you already, but you completely won me over with this. I LOVED Knightmare as a kid (Only nine years ago - I watched the repeats on UKTV Gold), and this is so nostalgic for me

  • Treguard better than Dragon Strike's Dragon Master? Aw, Spoony, say it ain't so...

  • 2:33 Pay a while, play forever. Do you think that is a play on speech from Impossible Mission on the C64, stay a while stay forever?

  • It was NOT on the BBC. It was on ITV evry Friday 4.40 loved that show bring it back

  • The kid reminds me of ico.

  • you can really tell spoony wanted like hell to have participated in this show

  • This video has made my whole life<3 I adore this show, but the contestants were ridiculously stupid sometimes! Still, makes me proud to be British with awful shows like this:D

  • Can I hear the Zelda theme in the back ground?

  • @ClaytonPoweredup I hear it too.

  • @shikagrey So I'm not crazy...?

  • @ClaytonPoweredup You could be but you weren't the only one hearing it.

  • This was an amazing show, I used to wake up and watch this so early in the morning

  • WHY is there no "love" button on this video? I used to get up every morning at 6:30am and sit in front of the TV to wait for Knightmare to come on at 7am. That was when I was 10, only 5 years ago. WHYYYYYYYYY DID UKTV GOLD HAVE TO DIEEEEE? I miss Knightmare... I miss Doctor Who Omnibus...

  • The few times I saw Knightmare completed, the teams tended to consist of highly intelligent super-geeks, who probably spent all their time playing D&D, were led by a bespectacled genius and who had devised an elaborate instruction and directional system for the purpose. To win, you just had to not be an idiot.

  • Knightmare was an ITV programme, not a BBC programme.

  • Knightmare was by far the best children's programme ever created.

  • I was just about to correct that Knightmare was aired not on the BBC, but on ITV, until I saw the caption correcting it, but I'm still posting it seeing as it is such an elementary mistake to make, since ITV produced/aired all the best children's programmes at that time. Most BBC programmes were very immature even for youngsters.

  • Comment removed

  • 6:30 would have if he just screamed out BOOOOOM HEADSHOT

  • Was that the Zelda theme in the Background?! I listened really closely and I think it is! O_o

  • @Finalfantasyfreakout @ 1:08 I know it's "Army Of Darkness." XD

  • @Finalfantasyfreakout maybe i spidge of he man though :/

  • I would defo watch this if they updated it today..they should I dont see why it wouldnt be a success.

  • @dageezerboi I also want to see them brign back that ruins explorer one they had on Nickelodian with the Teal Gecko team and so forth.?

  • @WhiteTiger225 I dont remember that, dont think i saw it..

  • @WhiteTiger225 Legends of the hidden temple! best show ever. no teal geckos though... Orange iguanas!

  • Weird im british and ive never even heard of Knightmare...

  • @Goldendriger young kid I assume? This was such an amazing show i was a little kid when it was on TV but it was awesome. best thing on TV along with gamesmaster back then.

  • @dageezerboi Actually not, im like 20 =/ i guess i just never ran into it

  • knightmare was Awasom only 5 channels in Britain back then so us kids got a damn good dose of it i tells thee,,,intresting to hear that it was broadcast over yankee doodle seas, yeeehahahaha an excellent review excellent i say...they really should bring it back for the new generation but with real traps.

  • @dave00dance

They could easily bring it back and use the guy who played the gatekeeper in atmosfear, pretty similar to treguard and sinister.

  • @dave00dance There were only 4 channels when this first aired.

    No Channel 5 until 1997.

  • HANG ON A MINUTE AT 1:57 or so you say "the cheapest, dumbest hand drawn effects" thats a bit harsh, it was twenty years ago and a childrens program! This show was the best.

  • Ooooohhh... Chuunkkkkyyy.....ಠ_ಠ

  • That wall was cool! Bilbo Baggins WIN!!

  • @SpoonyOne: quite an entertaining documentary till you started swearing

  • @symphonyfantastic Well thats Spoony's style, deal with it or stfu

  • @symphonyfantastic then it became awesome. =D

  • WAIT!

Deagol was not a hobbit. They were hobbit-like, but not covered in the prologue on hobbit history.

    All right.

  • Waaaaaait a minute. Stop the video, people. Hang on.

Knightmare was on ITV, not the BBC. I remember 'cos there were adverts.

    Carry on.

  • @ 3:11

    "...Really, Treguard? Really?"

  • oh man! i miss knightmare they should bring this back :)

  • Excellent review, really enjoyed it

  • 3:10 "u have got 2 be kidding me" LOLZ =D

  • Is it just me or if you listen closely you can hear the zelda theme (I noticed it while he was talking about the children being used to enter the dungeon)

  • is da music in da background from the legend ov zelda???

  • brilliant ! :)

  • You thought they died with those terrible effects? XD

  • Amazing programme bk in the day. I used to think that the contestants actually died lol.

  • Two tips you missed; these were occasionally mentioned "rules" of the dungeon:

    1) if in doubt, choose the right-hand door. The left-hand door almost always leads to a room full of fire or something equally "oooh... naaasty!"

    2) Never take a weapon. Three items on the table, one of them's a crossbow? Take the other two; weapons were *always* useless red-herrings.

  • Smeagol & Deagol weren't Hobbits; they were "related" to Hobbits, they were just Hobbitish, a bit Hobbity; they weren't actually Hobbits.

  • What is that movie at 6:47 ?

  • @samscuba1104 final destination

  • in my country we had a special show in Hannukah (yes I'm jewish) that had action, ridlers and in the end you go to a dark room and for 10 minutes you can collect almost all prizes. the show was awesome and it even had a storyline that made me enjoy even more

  • That looks like so much fun to watch!

  • @Querty1995: It was. It rocked. 90% of the kids failed; there'd be maybe one winner per season. Sometimes you'd get three teams nailed in one show; if they lasted two shows, they were doing well. The only break they ever got was if the season ended while they were still playing; then they'd get a fast-forward to the end. Otherwise; one strike and you're out. It ran for seven years; it's great that any Americans have heard of it at all.

  • Btw, Smeagol wasn't a hobbit; he was one of the riverfolk, which were like hobbits but not hobbits.

Yes I am a geek, thanks for asking!

  • @LaceNeilSinger smeagol was a hobbit he was a stoor who lived near gladden fields where he found the ring

  • @LordAzanko No, he wasn't a hobbit. He was like a hobbit, yes, but a different breed. Teach your grandmother; I read the books loads of times.

Oh yeah, and he didn't exactly find the ring; he murdered Deagol to get it.

  • @LaceNeilSinger if he wasnt a hobbit what was he then? and yeah i know deagol found it before he killed him for it i remember reading there are 3 groups of hobbits stoors,Fallohides,Harfoots

  • @LordAzanko In the books, Gandalf says that Gollum's race were "like hobbits"; that seems to suggest that they weren't. But they were similar; in the way that leopards and lions ar similar and have many of the same characteristics but are different races.

  • @LaceNeilSinger actually he WAS a hobbit, as mentioned in bilbo baggin's memoir, there and back again.

smeagol was just corrupted by The 1 Ring.......and grew about 500 years old.

    p.s. I'M a geek, ya bespectacled arse.

    jk

  • @jere3416 Just going by the books; I just thought that "like a hobbit" was a bit obscure; saying "was a hobbit" would have worked better.

Anyway; awaiting the film of "The Hobbit" so I can bitch about it and nitpick with the other geeks. XD

  • @LaceNeilSinger man, now that you mention it..... how long has that movie been in production?

i mean, the game came out years ago already.

  • @jere3416 I think they finally decided to bring it out this year. It's been stuck in development hell forever, it seems.

  • @LaceNeilSinger No smeagol WAS a hobbit as he dwelt on the banks of the Anduin which tolkien clearly describes as the geographical origin of the halflings, over which they later migrated, journeying over the MistyMts. into Bree. Later, with the permission of the Numenorean king Tar-something or other who at that point ruled Arnor from Fornost (as well as ruling Gondor) they crossed the Baranduin (Brandywine), finally coming to dwell in what later became known as the Shire.

  • Later when the witch-king came to inhabit the Mts. of Angmar, he drove the Dunedain out of Fornost with his forces and the realm of arnor was lost to Men (excepting Bree) And as a millenium passed, the hobbits, having poor literary traditions only retained the dimmest recollection of their origins on the banks of the Great River and did not particularly cherish the study of their own ancient history. Hobbits only dated events going back to the colonisation of the Shire. (Shire-reckoning)

  • This show was so epic.

  • FANCIED HIM !!

  • the opening music sounds like deathstalker

  • Sweet , at 3:03 in thats me back in 87 - old skool...

  • Is that the zelda theme playing in the background?

  • From a time when enemy's were flat and squishy, long behold the infintile quest to right wrong's... Bethesda would shit in there pants if they witnessed.... KNIGHTMARE

  • this show was amazing!!!!!!

  • It was ITV not bbc

  • @antonyhamill rly?

  • lol

  • I loved this show when I was a kid. All hail the dungeon master! The show was broadcast on Itv not bbc. Great review

  • What was the movie where the kid got crushed by a falling glass thing?

  • @TheRealBurninator Final Destination. Which one, I have no idea.

  • @TheRealBurninator it was final destination 2

  • Respond to this video... Why do I hear the legend of zelda them at 3:20? lol

  • The mindless threat of the mechanical warrior.

  • Like for Gooey and sticky endings

  • BULLSHIT! READ THE BOOK YOU STUPID WALL. LOL

  • Ooooh, Nasty!

  • Haha, your British accent is worse than Dick Van Dyke's = D

  • what's the song from 0.55-1.41? Spoony uses is all the time!

  • This was my favourite show as a kid. Everyone I knew wanted to be on it.

  • ooooooo.. naaasty

    FOFL

  • Granitas? I dun get it.

  • @rubino83 Granite arse

  • It wasn't on the BBC it was on ITV?

    Nas-teaaaa!

  • ...uuuuuuhg nnnnasty. Cracks me up.

  • was that the theme music from Evil dead????

  • i was nearly sick i laughed so much. naaasty.... thank you thank you.

  • hey spoony, do you have the link for the hellfirecomms version of this? Not that i dont love this ne its just i havent seen it in a while xD

  • The "magic of childhood" is lost a lot today. Kids these days want instant gratification, have no memory and always want the next thing. I think years ago people used their imaginations more, and that made everyone more different. Even the music, they don't make 'em like they used to. What's the equivalent to that these days? What's the equivalent to BlockBusters? X-Factor? Kids these days are getting so much crap force-fed to them they don't know what their missing. Shows are now about hosts.

  • @macflyfilm same with the videogame industry..kinda sad

  • Where the hell did you discover knightmare? Did they show it in the U.S.?

  • I was on knightmare, and I won one of them scrolls. When i got it home and opened it it said "You are a geek, signed :Treguard"

  • @antonyhamill I did that too, and my scroll was just a photo of him screwing my mum....

  • @videogamenostalgia Your Ma as well? Treguard is a player.

  • @antonyhamill Dude, you're lucky to have been on this awesome show!

  • AAAHH!!!! spinning skull with eyes! spinning skull with eyes! the source of all my childhood nightmares has returned! make it go away!!!

  • LOOOOL, I can't believe you did a review on knightmare! I used to LOVE this show as a wee child, I remember legging it home from school to watch it. :D

  • Ooh.......nasty......

  • Oh shit! It just thought of old school games.

    Anyone remember:

Fun House (Hosted by J.D, Roth)

    Video Power

    Finders Keepers

    Nick Arcade

    Legends of the Hidden Temple

Didn't Video Power or Nick Arcade have a segment where they revealed a "Cheat Code" for a game council or was there another one that did that?...

  • @CoHScrapper I saw a rerun episode of Nick Arcade. They actually played Kick Master for points, and the kid lost because he could barely figure out how to kick, only to punch.

  • LMAO 4:54 This riddle reminded me of "Scream"

Killer: "Name the killer in Friday the 13th." *gets it wrong*

Casey: "Listen, it was Jason! I saw that movie 20 goddamn times!"

Killer: "Then you should know that Jason's mother, Mrs. Voorhees was the original killer. Jason didn't show up until the sequel. I'm afraid that was a wrong answer."

Yeah, common sence (if you read the book) says Spoony had the correct answer.

  • One of my favourite childhood shows, ever. Believe me, we kids growing up in the UK got just as frustrated as you did over the stupid decisions some teams made. Did you ever see the episode where someone on the team told their Dungeoneer to sidestep left into a GAPING HOLE? Classic moment. But the difficulty level was what made us love it so much: if you won Knightmare that was a real achievement.

  • ooooo nasty..

  • DID ANYONE NOTICE THE ZELDA SCORE?

  • Not being funny but Us Brits have never had anything as good as knightmare and It finished when I was 7/8

They also picked kids who were rich or clever to go on this show...

You can say the dumb ones are the rich kids ha

  • *Takes a deep breath* Ahhhhh, I love the smell of intolerant assholes in the morning!

  • knightmare was freaking awesome

  • Nice t-shirt.

  • This is a funny funny review of the show. I was a kid when the programme first aired and I loved it. Looking at the graphics of the show restropectively doesn't really do it justice as although it looks naff today, it was actually quite advanced tech for the day and there was nothing like it around. I would love to see what they could do with this show with todays advances. FINGERS CROSSED :-)

  • funny vid

  • Ooh, Nasty.

  • "Yes don the helmet of justice, then put thy hand in this bowl of eye balls!"

  • @xtcsydney

    Granitas = Granite Arse.

  • I'll pop in to be the trillionth person to point out that it was an ITV show and not a BBC show and add that the BBC do make a programme called Raven which is as close to Knightmare: The Next Generarion as you're going to get...

...a programme that I watch as a grown man of 32...

  • great review spoony i fuckin loved this show but a few things always got me like if a team was doing really well but the series was coming to a end the adventure would just end and they wouldnt be allowed to continue in the new series instead they would have a new team that would start

also because it was like a video game i always wanted to see the later levels but because the teams was full of retards we only ever saw the same parts of the dungeons week in week out

  • Nice... I will say though watch the last team in season 7. Barry is the legendary dungeoneer.

  • burt hehehe

  • ...granitas?

    i don't get it...someone explain plz!

  • Because sounda like granite ARSE ! :-p

  • @dylandior123

    woooooooooooow lol

  • No need for sarcasm lol

    :-p

  • @dylandior123

    o,o

    it wasnt sarcasm.

i said was cause i was like i didnt noticed it sounded like ass.

    sorry :)

  • It's very difficult to understand clearly just by writing words.

    I wasn't being serious. That's why I also said "...lol :-p".

    I

  • Nasty!

  • it wasn't the BBC. Anglia television made it in collaboration with Broadsword. My brother was in the first episode and my other brother did the graphics/bluescreen years later. Made in Norwich england!

  • next> bruce's price is right

nice to see you, to see you NICE

  • Unfortunately I never grew up with knightmare. But I did grow up with video and arcade top ten, which is a badass show it was like electronic playground, but with PRIZES! Like board games and electronic watches! Aw... the ninties...

  • What's tip 3?! I can't see!

    ...oh, part 2. :P

  • FYI, I called it a game to farce the lack of knowledge of it XD

  • got to love the kid's expression at 3:11.

what a great concept. I would have loved the show as a kid.

  • great video, I used to watch this as a kid. This brought back great memories. Oh, and that saturnspeak guy has no taste so ignore that idiot.

  • Yes, it is obviously a great game, and that is why many still play it tod-OH WAIT! They don't, because it sucked :p

  • Cool story, bro.

  • @neon6

Relevance - That meme has little.

  • This was the absolute highlight of my friday nights when I was a kid, it was cutting edge in its day! used to come on after astro-farm on CITV :D I believe this show went on until about 1995 then just dissapeared WTF. Treguard your a pimping LEDGEND BRING THE GODDAMNED SHOW BACK!!!

  • Zelda theme, awesome.

  • "Hahaha, That kid is dead as shit!" That line was pretty win

  • Spoony, I love you! But ...this has probably been mentioned already, it was actually broadcast on Children's ITV here in the UK.

Sorry to nit pick. I do love your videos, though. The phantasmagoria 2 videos are hilarious! :D

  • I just read your video annotation. Forgive me.

  • My brother and I grew up watching this. They don't make things like they used to.

  • am i just imagining it, or is music from "Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past"

    Playing throughout?

  • "BAM! Lightning bolt to the fucking head. Hahahahahaa, that kid is dead as shi!" lolz good one
