The US needs to pull out of the Middle East, we didn't seem to learn from the Soviets' mistakes. They invaded Afghanistan in the 1980's and it destroyed their economy and public approval. I think he probably meant painful for the economy, people, everything as a whole. I think this is his solution to extending the benefits more years to come. At the rate it's going the system will be completely broke in no time. If cuts are made now then the benefits wont be as much but the system could keep going longer. So I don't think it's not as bad as it sounds. There is no perfect candidate. Everyone makes mistakes too. I think we need to vote for someone. There's not a lot of choices...
