I think most people are fully aware of H1N1, it's effects and the relative levels of risk. In addition, I think people are also much more aware of how to minimise the risk of contracting the virus (and indeed any other airborne virus) through adoption of the very basic hygiene guidelines we should all follow at all times anyway.

You can't get it from cooked food. The temperature required to sanitize food when it is cooked is far above the level that viral proteins can survive at. Even if the pig you are eating had swine flu, the virus would be denatured and couldn't possibly have an effect on you.

I had swine flu...it wasn't really all that bad it was like all the other flus. The only thing I didn't like was coughing every 5 seconds and the high fever...and the body aches...Even when I was better I had a monster cough for two weeks-until I went to the beach-the ocean water completely quieted my coughs...

Official figures put the number of affected at 113000, with ~600 deaths.
In reality, it is estimated that 'millions' of people have already had the virus and fought it off just as they would a normal flu virus, making the mortality rate in the region of 600/2000000...

The current mortality rate from A9H1N1 is ~309/32807 = 0.5%
Unless the virus becomes genetically more severe (unlikely) then if absolutely every person on the planet got the virus that would mean:
0.5 % of 6.5 billion people = 32.5 million
Previous pandemics have never reached the full population, usually about half, taking that down to 16.25 million.

There is no evidence at all that the H1N1 strain has mutated into a more 'dangerous' form. It's not impossible that it could do so in the future, but to panic at this time is simply pointless. Build up your natural immune system. Adopt the well publicised hygiene guidelines. Just be sensible.

I think most people are fully aware of H1N1, it's effects and the relative levels of risk. In addition, I think people are also much more aware of how to minimise the risk of contracting the virus (and indeed any other airborne virus) through adoption of the very basic hygiene guidelines we should all follow at all times anyway.

The actual effects of the virus are made clear, and performing any additional research confirms that H1N1 is most definitely 'mild'. A big worry is that, like ALL flu viruses, if this Swine MUTATES into a more serious form (I.E. say 50% of all infected die) then, it is time to be scared. For example, Avian H5N1(bird flu) has a 25-50% or more Mortality rate. But, swine is not to feared, for now. People need to gain knowledge on how not to get the flu and how to prevent from spreading the flu.

Giveaname - The actual figures are for every 1 case tested and reported there are 100 people infected. Once H1N1 is detected in a community, not every is tested - just treated. Don't be scared because this Swine Flu kills at a very low rate. There are 11,000 cases reported today - and 68 deaths. So, there are about 110,000 infections worlwide, but there are billions of people in the world.
My intention is for people to take health precautions - not to scare.

The source of the pig flu is still mysterious. Before the flu of a new style is usually infected with a person, there is big death toll of pork or chicken. But there was no big death toll at all. A virus is scattered on this artificially clearly. I think that Mexican government can't sterilize accurately.

if you knew anything about anything you'd know why. because flu shots are WORTHLESS in most cases! first of all, viruses mutate so fast that you can get a vaccination and in a week it will be null and void because the virus is already different. secondly, by getting a flu shot u r lowering ur overall immunity because ur ramping up the immunity for one specific strain. not very smart!!

You can't get it from cooked food. The temperature required to sanitize food when it is cooked is far above the level that viral proteins can survive at. Even if the pig you are eating had swine flu, the virus would be denatured and couldn't possibly have an effect on you.

My Concern:
It seems too coincidental that within a months time this contagious flu has nearly spread all over the world...And its combination (human, bird & swine) is almost too bizarre to believe as a naturally occurring spontaneous outbreak.

Almost 75% of the worlds population live in the northern hemisphere.
Anti virals will help, it seems that this would be a one shot option and as usual it will start from the top(important people eg Gov, Mil, Police and as an after thought Meds. The more people use the anti-vials the more lightly an anti-viral resistant strain will emerge.
I think the vaccine will work though.
