This is much better than a lot of the other "instructors" who have put lessons on here, if your starting out then you need to listen to this guy! (no BS and he talks to his audience like they are on the same planet)

i'm finding it difficult to get doubles off my floor tom, would it be something to do with the tightness of the skin?

As long as you have at least one rebound it should not be a problem. It's a bit harder to do it on the floor-tom than the snare-drum so it'll take some practice :)

not at all. just play it really slow with a metronome and increase the speed as you go. i found that it helped me. =]
