My mum loves to use Aquarelles, and she is not that bad at it, and though she is was born in 1943, and she speaks English very badly, she now wants to improve her English, and adviced her to watch videos like this which refer to her hobbies and interests.

hmm so i guess ive been using them wrong the whole time. i would always dip the lead part in water first and go on from there. its actually much easier for me cuz i hate brushes

There is no wrong way. I love dipping the pencils in water first, rather than brushes, because it gives me more control.

I do the actual opposite from her. For skys I do a water technique. Wet the paper and then get some blue paint from your pallet and it will look like a blotchy sky. the white very lite blue parts represent clouds and stuff. It looks really really nice. If I were you dont take advice from this lady.
