I don't see why everyone complains about drivers and all this stuff about the union not doing anything. why do people post stuff like this and talk shit when you could of said something right then and there instead of secretly recording them and posting it on here talking bad about MUNI drivers. Don't talk bad about MUNI but ride them.
@romarr85 Have you ever tried arguing with a MUNI driver? Hell, even talking to a MUNI driver will get you ignored most of the time. Of course, then you have all the other times that they'll threaten to call the cops. Confronting MUNI drivers has never accomplished anything; they're a self-righteous, entitled bunch.
And anyone who's riding MUNI is doing it because they have to, not because it's great fun. Are people who can't afford a car not entitled to an opinion?
MUNI drivers are a scary bunch. They run into pedestrians, pretty much always their own passengers. They run into their bus stops with the people waiting to board and hit them. I have heard of a MUNI driver purposely veering her bus to hit a rude bicyclist and then appear to be doing a hit and run until the crowd yelled at her to stop. Heard of another MUNI driver in uniform beating up a gay guy in the back of the bus while another bus driver drove the bus & ignored the bearing going on.

man, just one question, how much do these guys make a year?! Heard that its a lot... Don't mean to be rude, but Muni (well, some of them) are pretty rude, whenever I got to the station, they would run away even though they could see me running to catch the bus!! I don't know but that happened to a lot of my friends as well..
I observed a 10 driver talking on her cellphone as she drove for about 5 minutes... I was tempted to complain but didn't think it would be considered a big deal. In hindsight, I guess it was a big deal. Pretty unsafe.
There are still quite a few polite ones who greet you when you board the bus and show him/her the transfer/pay the fare. Those driving 30/45/9/9X/9AX/9BX won't be too nice because they are rather numb to the (mostly Chinese) ppl swarming the bus from the front and middle and back door in Chinatown.
wow. i just stumbled upon this, but i've been on the 33 before when the driver's had a girlfriend or something tag along. i wouldn't be surprised if it were the same guy. i always thought that was weird. props to you, mattymatt, for capturing this in the internets.
Muni had it's contract renegotiated not long ago, and I noticed that once the new contract went through, customer service went to the dogs. Rather than being the public servants which they are (and should be proud to be), many MUNI drivers have an air of entitlement. Many of them don't feel they need to get you to work on time. Many of them feel that the world owes them something.
As a retired S.F. Muni driver I feel it's the old addage one bad apple spoil the entire box. Please enjoy the beautiful city and I beleive you will encounter other drivers with the correcr professionalism that muni use to have. Sorry for your bad experience. As a college graduate it was still the best job I've ever had and would still be there if not for physical reasons. Keep the faith and enjoy the beauty around you. Shalom. FC77
I am a former Muni Driver and would have at least gotten suspended w/o pay for the first infraction and possibly fired. I guess Muni has gone to the dogs with the rest of the world.
Good for you for posting this. Your video posting made the paper! I once complained to a driver about kids tagging up the bus, he actually told me there was nothing he could do.
Mattymatt, are you just another tattletale carpetbagger taking all the fun out of being a San Franciscan? At any rate, you should have said something, as you risked everyone's life, including yours, while you sat there and played muckracking journalist. If driver tells you to f**k off, which we'd expect from a Muni driver these days, you report his ass.
that was beautiful. totally exposes them for what most of them are. i have had some positive experiences on Muni, i.e they stopped where they were supposed too and were courteous. Wait, that is what they are SUPPOSED to do. ugh. And of course he the driver in this vid is black...oy vey.
While I'm sure your quite comfortable living in your Box O' Stereotypes, you would do yourself a big favor by getting out and seeing more of the world. Like people living in the cities and the country, liberal and conservative, married and unmarried don't do crazy and stupid things also. It's not just in San Francisco my friend, believe me.
Dude.. fuck MUNI drivers. They are possibly the worst damn bus drivers on the planet. Last semester I got my phone jacked on MUNI & I was yelling HELLA fucking loud for the driver to help me (cause it was a new phone, not some old piece of shit) & the bitch didn't do anything.
Not only do empty buses pass riders by, but they seem to delight in stopping fast or starting fast so people that are standing fall and before elderly people have an opportunity to sit down. Twice in the past six months I have been on a bus when the driver forgot what route he was on and went the wrong way before people shouted that he missed his turn. And why do three buses or trains come at once and then you have to wait 20 minutes for the next one?
Here's a toast to the common man (the common bus rider). That is what I love about YouTube. You did the right thing Google by buying it... Thanks rider...
i've seen muni drivers piss in bottles at the end of the line and chuck them out the window, run stop signs and stop lights, pass bus stops with a near empty bus without even looking for people waiting, pass the stops i've requested, etc. just once i would LOVE to see a muni bus get pulled over by police. can they do that even?
Nothing, absolutely nothing suprises me about Muni drivers. I see them talking on cell phones while driving in heavy traffic all the time. I watched one read a newspaper while driving in heavy traffic. Never step into a crosswalk even with the walk sign until the muni driver has come to a complete stop and made eye contact with you - they don't believe that stoplights that have been red for less than 20 seconds mean anything. Buncha friggin ' layabouts.
San Francisco's public sector is an over compensated under supervised jobs program protected by a group of unions that care nothing about delivery of service or respect for the public. A highly educated public whose reflexive support of anything union insures there will be no meaningful changes. The SF public isn't stupid, they're FOOLS. Come visit us, meet panhandlers up close, smell the aroma of stale urine and step over the resident drunks on the sidewalk.
My favorite was the time the 22 Fillmore operator, drunk, let everyone on for free and then decided to see if he could ride the trolley coach off of the overhead wires at the foot of Fillmore, make the left turn onto Waller and then right onto Church, where he connected the coach to the juice. This was with the old Flyer trolleys, not the new ones that have a small battery that takes all the sport out of such an effort.
The sign say " Information gladly given , but safety requires avoiding unecessary conversation with the driver . " That don't mean a thing with about 80% of them !
Yeah. There's a sign above the driver's seat on the buses that says something like "Driver will be glad to answer questions, but any unnecessary conversation is dangerous." Meanwhile, the driver of the 22 Fillmore I took recently was on her cell phone for the whole time I was on the bus. I understand this is common practice.
That's what I call a hot date. "How about you want to come to work with me and stand in back of me for the whole route?" "Sounds great! See you at 8!"

The problem is my SAFETY. If you trust your kids with him driving the bus, then you are one of the very FEW people in the world.
