Kiss my ass. Persians were in a seez fire with greeks. Greeks send application about getting help by persians, cus they had power. They lured them all, actually betrailed...
@theworldisfucked1 The persians could not have, and had no reason to, take more than 100 thousand on a punitive expedition against Athens. At thermopylae there was a pass, 14 meters wide, that allowed about 20 men to form the front line. In such a case, the greeks' longer spears gave them a clear advantage by allowing more troops to engage, but they still managed to lose.
@theworldisfucked1 Besides, I know they wrote stuff down, but more in a propoganda way, stating the achievements of the kings - intended to impress. Not like Herodotus and other greeks - they wrote to pread the word to the next generations.
@theworldisfucked1 AN ARMOURED hoplite. You should know that armour was extremely expensive, and most hoplites only carried linen corselets at best - the same as persians. Most hoplites never received any form of training, and a shieldwall by the immortals could defeat them pretty easily, as would more skilled. At marathon there was not a single companion (known to you as "immortals") present, and chokepoints always favour the defender - it was the hoplite's longer spears that mattered there.
If you can't, the first and most obvious one is that they only fought tribal enemies on open desert battlefield. You state their infantry was poorer... Than what? The persian regular troops could easily defeat most hoplites. A 5 year old knows the greeks and romans IN YOUR society, so it doesn't matter for shit. Besides, it's only because the greeks were the only ones writing shit down - others simply saw no need to do that
@theworldisfucked1 How do you know? I have never been shy to state my opinion. Noone knows that where you live, but in, let's say the middle east, most people probably know nothing of the greeks. Their way of fighting was superior on their home turf, that's true, but that doesn't make them a better civilization. I am not angry, I have learned the ways of the internet the hard way. Most people just don't read anything longer than "you are retarded". Why would I expect you to be any different?
@theworldisfucked1 you are right i mean why be angry on the internet this is just a discussion before i was like you hating evryone i didnt know about i'm currently 16 and i look other to things like gaming is an adiction and stuff but appart from that persia was a great nation just as greece
@theworldisfucked1 states and nations in the east, and finally died in the midst of battle fighting the massagetae confederacy north of the river Syrdarya, more than 3000km from his homeland. So shut up.
@theworldisfucked1 LOL you, fair sir, are pretty retarded. You have no knowledge whatsoever on the persians, but still pretend you do.
Just for starters: the persian empire was created in less than 20 years, by a young warrior king of a petty kingdom, named Cyrus II. He rose up against his overlords, the medians, overthrew them after a bloody war, and then proceeded to conquer 2 of the 3 remaining world superpowers (the medians were the first) - Lydia and Babylon. Then he conquered many smaller
@theworldisfucked1 i havte one question for you im for the greek bye de way i just love there armor and stuff
why did persian rule 3 kwarter of the known world? i mean they where good in there style of war but when the 2 collapse youll see that the greek way of fighting is at the and better but greeks didnt know how to hold a empire the persians did so that is the difrence greek now is a smaal country the persians where rich and didnt know what do do with tthe money so rich they 're
Actually Slavery was not a common practice in the Persian tradition. The Persians never possessed a slave army, this is a common misconception. The standing army was paid under regular service.
Slavery was common feature of ancient Greek society.
@danbagheri ok i do have respect my friend :P but i still can't beleive why persians would have been retreat against like 1000 greeks and those spartans i dont know how many it were but why was the persian king attack all its forces at the hill pass? i mean they are smart they build a bridge of ships haha so can you explain that to me! :)
@hermanuslinssen thanks for being civil. Yeah well I dont know, but I know at Termapolye'a there were nearly 7 000- 10 000 or more Greek coalitions present lead ofcourse by the Spartan king. They were heavily fortified in a narrow hill pass. Even a Roman army would have suffred heavy casulities under such cercumstances- But the persian never retreated though. They defeated the Greek coalition and latter captured Athens for nearly 50 years.
@danbagheri yes but one thing the only thing i think the persians where good in is get a huge groop of slaves force them to fight and with some luck you win?

Guys stfu.
First the Persians powned the Greeks. See the battle of Thymbra where 60000 persians defeated 150 000 greeks.
Later the Greeks powned the Persians. See the battle of Gaugamela where 60000 greeks defeated 240 000 persians.
Soooo, both empires are awesome.

@theworldisfucked1 You made several incredibly false assumptions, and your lack of punctuation does not help either.
